I don't like when somebody is trying to

maniuplate the truth. SA is a dangerous place to live and I do know that as my husband comes from there. I personally would take all the precautions when going there. Not only because me and him are white but because I am uncertain what could happen and usually it is something negative. I've heard milions of stories coming from south africans and it was not pleasant to hear. However, don't stop yourself from going to this beautiful country but be careful

DubsWest I must admit I was unfair because not all SA's provinces are violent and crime-ridden - The Western Cape is the exception. But then again, that's probably why so many international stars have bought homes there - even they seem to know that they should avoid everything north of the good old Cape. Not surprisingly, it is the ONLY province with an effective, non-corrupt, incompetent government. I will never persuade tourists not to vist the Western Cape - even promoted it in Germany!

I totally agree with you. Some of these people have turned a really fun and vibey advert into something ugly. The demographics of the country is 80 to 90% black, so that is reflected in the advert as it should be. And nobody is denying that there is crime in the country, of course there is. But there is crime everywhere in the world. There is not one city that can claim to be 100% crime free. Why don't you try and look at the good things that happen here?
