  • looks like a fking bike tyre

  • do you have to have the gears

  • If this small flying object didn't have a wire and be on remote control, then if I see it, I will thought that this is a real flying sauser with little aliens inside :P

  • was this guy mister wizard?

  • fuck you!!!!

  • dont say that there is kids that think that look at these

  • why did you write that do you not care if kids look at this im not trying to start any trouble or anything i just dont like when people write comments like that

  • That is a cool RC ufo!!! Brilliant idea

  • Sorry for my misstypes on my earlier post :)

  • i bought one that was like this but consisted os a single rotar that span inside the ring and had 2 funky blue leds on the outside creting ring of blue when being flown at night but mine had a recote control and was wireless? and only cost me £5 hovered comfortably at over 70 feet

  • Dadyyyyy Cooooool.....

  • 4:31 is my favorite

  • I built one of these using only two brushless motors, and it was able to lift the motors plus two 2 cell LiPo battery packs. The first attempt I didn't secure the motors well enough and the centrifugal forces ripped one off. The second design worked, but like the Vectron shown here there is no directional control. Only up and down, so it's not much fun once the initial novelty wears off.

  • Very knowledgeable!

Mr Herbert, if you have an "EXTRA"

RC flyer around send me one!! -=]

  • How do you put your name on the vetron ufo its sopose to say vetron instead of your name

  • hmmm that vectron is not that interesting, if i would have to choose i would take his grass-cutter,really nice one it must be soooo fun to drive one

  • new ways of masturbation

  • its like 4 helicopters o.o

  • YEA! well ,um,er,ur,

  • he looks like Hitler

  • have u ever seen hitler?omg...

  • a older version of hitler sorry...

  • Hitler neveer was fat. You say it only because he has similar hair cut.But there is nothing else.

  • he also got the stash...

  • how did u extend the wire ?????

  • there was more of the same wire in the middle hole of the platform. Peace

  • What year was this manufactured? Will there ever be a wireless version?

  • i have a wireless version it flies 30m into the sky

  • looks expensive. well. i have a kite. and with practice, it can accurately be steered with the amazing rope using my hands which are programmed to be very steady. and it can fly sooooo damn high.

  • I take it it's powered through the wire?

  • now just go brushless and add lipos! :D

  • Great Job ... I still have mine ... I actually made an extension tether for it to allow more flight freedom. Used it for a trade show booth once ... nice attention grabber with that customizable message. Wish I had a new one too ... especially with that external battery pack adapter ... guess this can be fashioned too. Keep up the great work!

  • Thank you. If you find one, let me know. I need a gear. LOL

  • where do you get your 6 way control helicopters

  • @NightFlyyer old ass prick u cant use lol ur like abillion years old go do society a favor and kill yer self bastard

  • @ibetdougiecan3 Go do society a favor little prick, go die, we will all cheer and party, and the world will become a bether place. Yeah, its true. And you dont even know who Hitler was and what a Pussy is.

  • @ibetdougiecan3 Where is your respect? Instead of verbally assaulting Dave try giving some criticism instead what was so wrong about the video? Just please think before you post offensive and rude stupid comments on cool videos.

  • pusssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssy

  • does it have any gyros?

  • None.

  • 3:48 answers that. :]

  • it doesn't need to have gyros because the whole body is spinning.. it is mentioned on the video...

  • i still have mine in the box working fine, one thing is mine also came with an umbulical cord that allowed you to hook two seven cell ni-cad battery packs togeather and then to the controller so you could take it out side or in a larger indoor area not be limited by power cords. i got mine at wall mart back in 2000 or 2001 for about $75.00. i saw my comment on this had gone away from b-4 so here it is again. GREAT JOB as always.

  • Thanks. Not sure where your comment is. Yep, that was the price I paid at Hobby Shack, it used to be called, now hobby people. wish I had a new one.

  • The Discovery channel store used to sell those years ago. Ever since they stopped I haven't seen them anywhere. If it has no batteries how does it work? Solar?

  • Their is a power cord from that plugs into a wall socket power adapter. It plugs in to the transmitter, and the wire from the transmitter plugs into the Vectron. Wish I could find a new one too.

  • Oh, lol, I didn't think about that. I have the original Hirobo X.R.B. Lama helicopter which works the same way. I haven't been able to fly it though because the wires are damaged.

  • Thanks. Yep, I wish I had another one too, as parts are nil and nowhere can you find the original today.

  • Thats great how it spells out different name like that,5*

  • Yep, I can program it. Thanks kindly.

  • weird how the legs stay almost stationary...no torque on them!

  • the legs don't move because they are connected to the base were the wire goes in ,and in the begining of the flight, the wire wil twist arround until the tension gets to high ( take a piece of wire and turn it at one end for 100 times or so, you will notice that te wire wants to curle, and when you let loose, it wil twist the other way round) witch makes the wire to twist the other way and vice versa. And when it does that, the legs are spinning too.

  • they are still available, i just bought one about 2 years ago at a hobby shop.

  • WOW...The original or the cheap Airhogs one? Tell me the name of the hobby shop, so I can get another original. Thanks.

  • I don't know what brand it was but it said vectron on it lol... looked "EXACTLY" like the one you have. But i live in arizona and i don't know if they have it over there but the store is called "HOBBY BENCH". if no luck over there try ebay or something... Hope this helps

  • Yeah, Air hogs came out with a machine they called a vectron a few years ago, but it ran on batteries and had to be charged.

  • I Know mine looked exactly like yours. it has no batteries. all wired.

  • how mutch did that cost becaus it should have cost alot more than a havoc becaus that is alot more complex (spelt wrong)

  • Back in the day, I paid $89 for it, and that was a lot 20 years ago.

  • I had one of those... loved it....

  • Where can I get one of these?

  • They have not been available for 10 years or so now. Sorry.

  • sweet i want one

  • Cool RC, Love the LED Lights!

  • Thanks.

  • HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH !!!!!!! SORRY MAN i like adolf iam not nazie though so yahhh man s ry

  • I faintly remember having one of these, but I'm not sure. You'd think I would remember it! (Im really enjoying the toy/mini reviews, by the way)

  • Thanks kindly. Haha. Yep, I forgot what I was just going to type. LOL.

  • nize video man but u kindof look like adolf ;)

  • That is sure rude and has nothing to do with the video.

  • vectron was my first r/c flying toy. shame it runs on an umbilical but its still great fun, cheap to!

  • At least if flies a long time on the cord,(no batteries to replace even in the TX) and since we are all flying inside these days, it had it's place when they were making them.

  • oh yeah definately. my cat loved that thing! in a terrified/entranced sort of way.

  • lol it sounded alienish when u slow motioned it

  • LOL.

  • HOVER CRAFT

  • a wired ufo? thats crazy.

  • Yep, well we all had to start somewhere.

  • it looks like it is a little unballanced for some reason. i think it is the led lights.

  • good yob

  • Thanks.

  • Lol what silly bear music is this :)

  • You didnt have to watch.

  • Ya i actually got my flying saucer at Dillards. Dont know of any other store that carried the product. Ive been to hobby town here in Dallas and they told me my best bet was finding the gears on another toy haha. But anyway, thanks for the help. Ill keep searching because the thing really was fun to fly. The best part was no batteries!

  • Your right about the batteries. Im sure Hobby People (the hobby store) can get you gears.

  • I was very excited to see this video. I got a vectron a long time ago but the smaller gears are almost all cracked and will not allow the vectron to take off. You said you used a 10 tooth servo gear. I have searched and havent found any gears that match. Can anyone tell me where to get replacements or what kind of gears i need to look for?

  • I think if you contact hobby people, (they were called Hobby Shack when I first bought this) and tell them you have an original Vectron. They can tell you where to get the gears if any are available. My servo gear was from a Kraft servo no longer made either.

  • oh, and inside the dome of the Vectron, didn't you see the infared emitter blinking during the video?

  • Yes, digital cameras pick it up, but you cannot see it with the naked eye.

  • reminds me of the alien micro fly except you have to keep buying batteries for the microfly and this is also bigger. great video dave.

  • Thanks kindly.

  • when was the vectron sold? A few years ago I tried out one in a store...looked just like this. BUT it was uncontrollable, the vertical lift was either too low or too high with no inbetween. probably was NOT a vectron, or was crashed alot before...

  • Over 15 years ago! The original was totally controllable, not like the toys you describe. But it was a lot more expensive.

  • Well, this is the Original Vectron and it had a computer built in to make it say anything I wanted with only 6 leds. The cheap toys now, never had that capability or flew very well either, considering they had batteries that needed charged. Mine doesn't.

  • They sell these now.. Bought two for me and my daughter, you can't really tell it where to go, but buy moving it up or down, you can get a feel on where you want it to go.. Had mine on a full charge since on batteries, go about 100 feet or so, people freak when they see it at night with the LED's, but you can't do spelling with these at all, but fin just the same.

Seek and ye shall find, "the real deal".

    EZ.

  • They don't sell these now. Airhogs sells a cheap battery version that is just as you describe. Mine was the original Vectron and extremely controllable, as you can see. It also uses no batteries in the Saucer or the Transmitter.

  • thats kool how u can have words lit up on the side the one i reviewd is air hogs so that all you get for about $19.95

  • does it actually know where it is or is what is happening when you use the remote, that you are causing the main central control to make one of the three arms holding the propellers to have the propeller spin reverse direction and to raise and lower altitude isn't the remote signaling the control center to slow the fans or to speed them up, lower or raise, respectively? and is there an ac cord connected to your device? also if this entire item had larger props more power lift more weight ?

  • The reference beam is produced by the transmitter (which has an AC adapter cord plugged into the wall). The props size was chosen to lift this unit and the cord. Bigger props may help, but there is no need, in this case. The props do not need reversed, just sped up and down like a helicopter at just the right points to have control, and as you can see it has great control for being so old of a design.

  • Where can you buy these!

  • You cant buy these anymore. I originally got mine from Hobby People.

  • That's lame on a wire lol. i had a video player with a wire going to the remote controller, does that have the same credibility.

  • it doesn't need the wire u can simply cut it off and it wil stil fly

  • true! ;)

  • Not true. There are no batteries in this original as it gets its power through the wire from the Transmitter, which is plugged into the house current.

  • Not true on this, as the wire is where the motors get power. There are no batteries.

  • ok.thats cool but how does that work?

  • There is a transformer plugged into the wall. The wire from that plugs into the Transmitter. There is also a wire coming out of the transmitter that goes to the Vectron, Which Supplies power.

  • whoops sry i missed part of the vieo. i rewatched it. my bad

  • Huh? Come on! This thing uses the wire to get its power, since there is no batteries in it at all. It all plugs into the house. It flies a long time and I never have to buy batteries. Your comparison is not valid for this unique machine. And the old video recorders years ago, had wired remotes, I might add.

  • Great video, Dave.

  • Thanks kindly.

  • hello again nightflyyer!!! (the best channel of youtube)

I am bored and I puestoi and to see videos from helicopters RC and I have not taken to see one of yours!

I also have a flying saucer that cost me € 5 (very cheap) and it is rare for me to rroto not, what happens is that it does not work. Not that I understand a lot of Aeronautics and RC but not what is the problem with this flying saucer!

volava also very well inside and outside the home ...

    Greetings!

  • Thanks. The new ones need batteries and use infrared controllers. You can buy them at walmart, etc. They are not as well suited for flying as the original, and can easily get away from you, since the sunlight affects the radio. The original like mine was quite pricey, compared to the Airhogs version, but still spin like crazy to remain aloft.

  • I remember seeing one of these at Hobby People. They look very similar but I think tey are the newer versions.

  • I bought this at Hobby People, when it first came out.

  • do you know how high it goes?

  • Mine only goes up as long as the wire reaches. The new ones are unteatherd (needs rechargeable batteries) and will fly away if you let it, then the radio gets interference and it will crash. For that reason you should not fly it higher than the radio can "see" it. 12 foot or so.

  • We had these things at Toys R Us not more than a couple months ago. Im not sure if we still do but I dont see why not.

  • The originals are no longer around for many years. They have different versions of Vectrons now from Airhogs, but they are wireless and not at all as controllable as this one. They are free flight and need batteries that have to be charged after every flight. This one uses no batteries anywhere.

IF you actually can get an original like mine, I would buy it from you for sure.

  • That would probably be what i was thinking of then.

  • can you still buy them

  • No. Wish we could, as I like to have spares of my favorite machines.

  • I have one of these myself, it has been in its box stored for some time but watching you fly yours has gotme itchin to get mine back out, they are quite fun. did you ever try the two pack flight mode where you don't need the 110 volt power sorcr?

  • Well get it out. There were no options for batteries on the original. Only Airhogs has one nowdays. Make a video of the 2 pack flight mode, if you have the original Vectron, as I am not familiar with that, and would love to see it.

  • mine looks just like yours, it came with a "y" harness that puts two battery packs of 8 cells i belive into series and plugs that into the controller. i have been looking at digital recorders for awhile and havent yet been able to decide what i want, it isnt the cost , it is more of a fetures ect that is holding me back so untill i do.....

  • Oh... I see. I thought you meant untethered totally. Sorry.

  • not a problem, mind telling me what you use for all these videos, to record them that is....

  • Thanks. Well the first 50 videos or so, I used an Aiptek Pocket Cam X. ($29). Then I began using a Sony GC-1. I have a video review on it. The Sony files have to be converted to Avi or WMVs before WMM can edit them so I began using Pinnacle studio software to make the movies.

  • Hi Dave. Did you say this thing can be flown untethered? Does't the "cord" supply the electricity?
