@MTLFAN11 Way to maintain your Catholic image with those 'words of wisdom' And by the way, the NO mass is a VALID mass. The real problem are all the liberals who abuse it, and put it into THEIR licking. I believe that the NO if done properly WITH REVERENCE even that can be as beautiful as the Latin Mass, and this is coming from a traditionalist myself.
@checkthisout732 I didn't say the NO wasn't valid. I have NEVER seen it done with reverenece or beauty. I don't doubt it could be made up to look great but a hooker dressed up in a ball gown is still a hooker..not snow white..if you like it, you attend it .At the best of times I have seen extra ordinary ministers, girl altar servers, folky band music, holding hands during 'Our Father'..that's from my own experience of course, but I know it pretty much the norm for the NO
@MTLFAN11 The one on EWTN is done with reverence and it's beautiful. Yes Liberals are all over the place, but there HAS to be a NO mass that is done perfectly
@checkthisout732 EWTN is as close to the perfect hybrid that most scholars say was problably the intention of v2 with the use of venacular and the use of latin for the most sacred parts of the mass as well as the preservation of use of incense communion on the tongue, and preferental treatment of old latin church music.
They at ewtn do have at least one tridentine mass at mother angelicas shrine church for the first saturday and they are the same monks that say daily mass.
@MTLFAN11 all of us traditionalists that have attended these serves without a doubt have seen this first hand. indeed it is really disturbing. We musn't lose hope! When the mass was in Latin 25% of mankind was Catholic. Today, less than 12% of mankind is Catholic. Since 1980 decade, Islam is the world's biggest religion. And more than 55% of the babies are Islamics. I live in Brazil.
Apocalypse 18:16- "And saying: Alas! alas! that great city, which was clothed with fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and was gilt with gold, and precious stones, and pearls."
This is perhaps one of the most revealing verses in the Apocalypse. In the Catholic Church, bishops wear purple and cardinals wear scarlet (red)! Notice that they are clothed round about (around their waists) in these colors.
Cardinals (in scarlet at the top) and bishops (in purple at the bottom) at the Vatican
@ ktomasz999 It is probably the most trickiest verse in the book of the Apocalypse/ Watch out for what you first think. This verse is talking about New York City, that city that people proclaim to be 'the greatest city on earth' with all these fancy mansions and apartments, and all these jewelery stores. Among the first States to allow abortions, among the cities that allow homosexuals to run about in their parades tempting the young.
I agree 100% SanctusMatrisTemplum. Behold the Sodom of our days! Among the cities to get hit by a silent earthquake (the big one is on it's way), the financial capital of the world! You dont need to take the WHOLE book of revelation symbolically. Apocalypse 18:16 is literally talking about a city. Woe to you Babylon the great, YOU HAVE FALLEN!
Apocalypse 17:4- "And the woman was clothed round about with purple and scarlet, and gilt with gold, and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, full of the abomination and filthiness of her fornication."
such a huge shame that the Mass changed. btw there should not have been any changes AT ALL. the Mass is supposed to be said the Way Christ instituted it without any defect as Brother Dimond said in a dvd i just watched and Sunday
AMEN! I talked to my parish priest and asked him why we have woman speaking on the pulpit, and why we had 'Eucharistic ministers' etc and his response was close to liberalism. "Because the church wants to teach equality between sexes"
I was Like 'You call THIS equality?!?!' well I didnt say that but it kind of opens your mind to the dangers our clergy face if they to caught up into modernism etc.
@mindspring57 If you mean woman speaking on the pulpit then look at 1 Corinthians 14:34 when St. Paul HIMSELF with the guidance of the Holy Ghost said "Let women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted them to speak, but to be subject, as also the law saith." These one one of the many bible verses that even fundamentalists don't take literally...
The Byzantine Rite of the Catholic Church, in full communion with Rome, uses the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, which predates the Tridentine Mass by at least a thousand years.
I am very happy, however, that Pope Benedict XVI restored the ability to use the Tridentine Latin Mass for those members of the Roman Rite who prefer it.
At least I am not the only one who thinks Paul VI was decieved by those he trusted. Card. Villot, Benelli, and Casaroli are the ones MAINLY responsible.
i'm sorry, but i have to say that I disagree with this. With this method, we come back before the Vatican II council, and personnaly its not a good idea. Even if im catholic and i like latin songs, we MUSTN'T go back before the last council.
Instead, why don't we finally do what the Vat. II Council told us to do. It did not tell us to throw out the Latin Mass. Its actual documents speak as though it assumed that Latin would still be normative in the Church.
Sacrosanctum concillium, first decission of the 2nd Vatican Coucil, published in december 1963 stated that the mass only needed minor changes and that Latin should stay the language of the mass. This was the only decission during the council made by blessed pope John XXIII, although he already passed away in december 1963. His weak successor Paul VI made a total mess of the councill and lost all control over the church after the council.
Almigau79, Do you really know the true events of the VATICAN 2? The "Novus Ordo" Mass of Paul VI were done under the influence of three Protestant Ministers who were present during the council. Thhe Late Cardinal Bugnini (not sure if spelling is correct?) who was a FREEMASON connived with these 3 protestant ministers to changed the Sacred Liturgy to something that will satisfy them being protestant. The results? The DESTRUCTION of the Catholic Church and it's Liturgy.
It is easy to learn Latin , but as a dead language it's impossible to carry on a conversation as there are no words for modern terms. Some people adapt words ( make them up) & that's OK. As for ecclesiastical Latin , the church has always pronounced Latin as if it were Italan , so , for example ; a 'c' might be spoken as 'ch'. E.G. "caelis" (heaven) = chaylees.
My father and my grandfather who both learnt latin at school tell me it's one of the most simple languages to learn because it all follows systems without exceptions (basically just word endings) so when you've learnt the verb tables etc you basically know the language.
Also, if one goes to the Traditional Mass one picks up words easily enough, also learning prayers in latin can be good.
Latins not actually much of a barrier like the liberals wil have you believe.
I am English of Irish blood. We must keep this wonderful belief or truth alive and take care not to swallowed up by people that are determined to destroy us
For the western countries where the education is not a major problem, latin mass is suitable. And the fact that latin also is a part of the curriculum of many institution. But what about in Africa and Asia where the gaps is too big between educated and uneducated people? In the cities, some of the churches celebrate latin mass some time, and local language mass too.
the answer is plain and simple... there will still be masses in the local language... I never studied latin but with the iad of a booklet that had both latin and english on the same page I could follow the liturgy and enjoy a latin mass. If I didn't want to attend latin mass there were way more masses in plain normal english for me to attend on the same day. :)
The Hebrews didn't not conduct their sacrafices to God in Hebrew because many spoke Greek and if you went to Church frequently with Latin which is a sacred language you'd learn the parts of it you need to know through supernatural Grace. there's 1 flock and 1 shepard there should be one language as there's always been. The mass is meant to be the same in the Phillipines as it is in Orleans France. God is the same in both places so the mass should be.
yeah it's true. by the way I'm Filipino. Our masses here in the Philippines are in Tagalog(and other local dialects) and in English but never in Latin. Coz there is no Latin classes here even the richest catholic school for the rich kids.
FYI. After the issuance of Summorum Pontificum, there are many churches now here in our country(Philippines) that celebrates TLM. In my opinion, there's no need to be knowledgeable much on Latin to understand the Latin Mass. It's almost the same as the masses that we have although longer. So if we truly understand each part of our mass, it's not difficult to hear and understand a Latin Mass. :)
I think that is a very good point. From what I understand, translations of the mass in the local languages were always available to guide the faithful through the Latin mass, so eventually they would learn it. Once they learned the mass parts, that would equip them to participate in the mass in any part of the world. The Latin mass predates me, but I am currently studying Ecclesiastical Latin so I may fully participate in it, now that it is becoming available again. It seems very easy.
Beg to disagree bro. There are Latin Masses now being conducted to some churches here in our country (Philippines). We don't need to be rich nor to understand fully the Latin Language because if we are to know the mass by heart, it's not difficult to understand nor to appreciate the TLM. Adding the majesty and mystic of it, the Latin Masses, the original language of our Church, is a tradition that we should not be forgetting.
Since when are the Gospel and Epistle not in Latin in the Tridentine Mass? The only things not in Latin are the Kyrie (which is in Greek) and the Homily (which is in the vernacular).
