  • The "people" decide nothing, God decides. I feel for the homeless, I really do but these people need to understand that Catholic charities is not a "program" it's a charity!

  • THe coruption of some faiths become more clear day after day. Religion that clims "Love" fights love, and follows failed leviticus laws that are inhumane. SO many become the Lucifer fallen from divinity by their hate and following blindly. They rather scream hate and take money then find true love and compassion. Serpants in disguise.

  • Good 4 u girl thanks 4 supporting the LGBT community:)As 4 the catholic church, once again has proved the intolerence and injustices they commit on people! Thats why i became a christian and so many more people are becoming christians:)Christians we dont gudge or condemed people! We love one another and we help eachother,ok!

  • "You know that you have created God in your own image when he hates all the same people you do." - Ann Lamott

  • How intolerant of the D.C City Council to try and force the Church to accept gay unions or else!! Even at the expense of the poor. What a shame Whats interesting is people that reference 500 yrs ago where the Church used harsh methods on those who didn't agree with them. It was good of JPII to apologize for that. I wonder when the D.C. City Council will apologize to the poor and the Church for trying to force them into an immoral position. Nice try by 1 member to place blame on the Church.

  • @1seticat How awful of the church to care more about denying grieving widows or widowers their rightful pension than to care about helping the poor.

Of course, the church could just deny all that money from the district, and then there would be no problem... but when have we ever known a church to turn down money?

  • @thanatos 101b No, the Church isn't going to accept the acts of homosexuals and include a disorder as a home for a child. Its a bad as letting Madonna adopt children. And the Church will accept not make money and continue to help the poor regardless of the corrupt city council of D.C., which I think still includes Marion barry does it not?

  • @1seticat The church can do whatever it wishes... provided it takes no money from the government, that's what the Mormon church does. And no, the church has made it very clear that oppressing others is more important than helping the poor. Note the sheer amount of money it uses in political campaigns which could feed the hungry and cloth the naked.

And no organization has ever been as corrupt as the Catholic Church. The current pope covered up child molestation.

  • @thanatos101b Now that the church can't take care of poor, (much done by Catholic volunteers), the full cost needs to be paid by D.C. - who has so much money? All stop for Gays!!! Sorry poor people! The city council is the problem. It used poor people as a bargining chip to move the gay agenda onto the Church, but lost. The council could have figured a way to respect the Church's position & still facilitate services to the poor.Tell me this couldn't be done?. Prove the Pope covered up as U say?

  • @1seticat Except the church can take care of the poor. They just can't dip their hands in the community till while discriminating against those who fill it.

No, the exact reverse happened, please read the news. The Catholic church tried to exploit impoverished people in an effort to kill a bill designed only for good. Then they got the massive backlash they deserved for their, frankly, evil actions.

The council, in fact, did just that, you can even watch them state exactly that on video.

  • @1seticat And as far as the pope goes, we've uncovered a signed letter where he knowingly left a priest already convicted of child molestation in the priesthood, but also left him as a youth minister, citing "the greater good of the church." Look up Stephen Kiesel.

  • @1seticat How hypocritical of the Catholic Church to take a stance against gay marriage, while harboring and transferring pedophile priests from Parish to Parish.

It's the Church that needs to apologize to the poor for forcing them to have more children than they can afford. The Church also needs to apologize for LYING to it's own people in regards to the use of Condoms, and telling the masses that condom use causes AIDS.

No church has or will be "forced" to perform gay marriage.

    Try again.

  • @1seticat Well, doing some good things for the poor doesn't make the church a good place or institution. It is their discrimination that is the problem. It appears that you try to heal a mistake that the church commits by saying:" Elsewhere they do good". But this is idiotic. It seems to me that you try to hold up some internal defenses against the idea of same sex sex. Can you explain to me why? And i won't accept an explanation as: "God said so". God says much when the day is long.

  • @soccerlover 1980 If I understand U refuse to accept a religious answer from a religious institution? So this passage won't help Romans 1:26-27: For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error.

  • @1seticat I clearly don't care what the Bible says. This is a book that was not written by God, that's for sure. We can talk about other things: Why is the Bible so important to you? What does it represent in your mind? I guess it is an object representance for your introjected parents, quite sure.So your parents thought the only possible, "natural" relationship was the one between man and woman. Seems to have been quite a severe childhood history. Reminds me of mine.

  • @soccerlover 1980 U ask a lot of questions about a book U don't care for? Happy to answer. The Bible (I'll address the NT) is the inspired word of God through revelation & from those who were with Jesus. It is the inspired word of God. Since introjected means, "incorporated unconsciously into one's own psyche," How can anyone know? Interesting, U went from asking questions (good) defining me without asking, (bad) & then making final assumptions. U were doing well til U stopped asking questions

  • @1seticat Hm, you got my point but you have not answered my question. As Jesus goes, there is evidence that he was a paranoid schizophrenic. However he said some things that i find unobjectionable, for instance:"Love thy neighbor". We can interpret it that it means that the gender is no matter. Well, as my psychological claim goes: You remind me a little of me when being a teenage. I was very religious. So is ask: what is it that makes you believe God is such a madman?

  • @soccerlover1980 I love it! Site evidence he was a paranoid schizophrenic? Who was "out to get him?" other than those who killed him? The word use would be "sex" not "gender" as gender refers to male & female forms within Romance langauges. Moving on. The great thing about being catholic is 2000 years of scholors who have studies the context and the meaning of what he meant. Showing love and compassion is not "screwing everyone in sight." How did U lose UR faith? I don't believe he's mad?

  • @1seticat You can google an article that appeared in "Secular nation" in 2001 where people provide proof that he was a paranoid schizophrenic.Sex, gender...i am a German, i confuse such things."Screwing everyone in sight" is hardly the essence of same sex love. I am an agnostic, meaning: not so quite sure about God existing or not. I just reject the catholic church because i can't see how it should be necessary for us to "fear" God .You see?

  • @soccerlover 1980 Why is a fear of God the only apart of the Church U focus on. God has set down laws and if these laws are disobeyed, there is a price to pay. its more about the fact that God loved us so much that he gave his only son who dies for our sins. But not nothing if there is a God, if may be pointless to go on. Its more about love and forgiveness. Not do whatever you want.

  • @1seticat If God sacrifices his son for others, he is not worth obeying at all. This is murder. I can't see any reason why his son should die for the sins others have committed. So either your portrayal of God is wrong, or God is a madman. I guess the earlier is true.

  • @soccerlover1980 Well U can draw any conclusion U want. Explaining wouldn't matter would it? I suggest if near a father who lost a son or daughter protecting this country, U not tell the father he's is not worth obeying.God didn't kill his own Son, humans with free will did. The council tried to corrupt the Church. they failed and the poor who suffer have no one to blame but the council. I don't choose either of your selections in terms of its either this or that

  • @1seticat If you don't choose either of my selections in terms of it's either this or that, then this is a choice too - and again for good reason. Of course did God sacrifice him, he was the predicted victim of the old Testament. And God did not intervene at all - and he should have since he is endlessly good and endlessly mighty, right?

  • @soccerlover1980 No because if God wanted robots, we'd be robots. Loving God occurs through free will or its not real. Unfortunetly people can make evil or bad choices. Like the High Priests or Judas. Jesus didn't have to die. Follow Ur logic and what ever U do u calim its God will. not true U play a part in this in terms of choices as do others, like the City council. Again they should have cut a deal with the Church. there R secular organizations where gays could adopt. getting it yet?

  • @1seticat Obviously i failed to make myself understandable because things are probably too complicated to be understood by some of us. So i'll try to put it in a more simple way:1. Jesus is not the son of God. 2. If God exists or not, is unanswerable. 3. That the Bible is God's word is YOUR hypothesis, proof it if you can. 4. What the Bible has to do with gay marriage is your secret. 5. Above all, you have presumably secret gay wishes you disavow.

  • @soccerlover1980 I disagree with #1&3, agree with #2 Secrets out! Romans 1:26-27: For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. I do like judy garland movies? Oh no my head exploded!

  • @1seticat In case you concede that # 2 is a valid point , how can you take the word of the Bible as unquestionable law????!!! This is absolutely incoherent. This makes me believe that my original hypothesis is true: that the Bible and religion are an object representation for your parents. And that's for sure: the object relations theory is proven to be true, so my source is a little more valid than yours.

  • @1seticat "the inspired word of God"

Why does the bible have so many mistakes and contradictions if it's the inspired word of God? I guess inspiration sometimes runs dry for god too.

  • @1seticat

No one has to try to force the Church into an immoral position. They get there just fine on their own. Just ask all the little boys they raped.

  • catholic church = Pedophiles

  • @brianh406 = stupid

  • Come on Catholics, What's the difference between sheltering gays and sheltering pedophiles?

  • @oh snap 31 Pedophilia is an act and is a crime. Declaring oneself a homosexual is not a crime but the act of homosexuality is a sin. All priests take a vow of celibacy. If a priest has consensual sex with an unmarried adult woman, he has broken his vows but that is not a crime, but a sin. If anyone engages in sex with a child, it is a crime. Mnay organizations shelter gays. They R human beings. I guess some treatment center "shelter pedophiles. I guess it depends what U mean by shelter?

  • What I think is sick, is a group of people oppressing another group of people in the name of their lord. Hence the "their" in the last sentence. Not everyone believes in the Big noodle in the sky, silly xtians. EVOLVE

  • @wood9670 Id rather you stay a xtian too!

Thats my point you idiot. You be a xtian I be what ever the hell I want. You believe in the invisible I believe in the tangible. You believe in the rights of fetus' I believe in Adults make their own decisions about their own bodies.....You believe in what ever you want, I believe in what ever I want.

You and your ignorant church forcing non-believers to believe.......Sick

    jeebus is soooo FAKE! LMFAO!

  • Do you honestly think Jesus would say to someone oh sorry I can't help you because you're (insert whatever here). I mean this is revolting on so many levels and is akin to blackmail, which is morraly incorrect. Ban gay marriage or we're going to stop helping the poor people because we might have to help an individual who is gay? It doesn't need to be opressive for it to be sickening.

  • @SShootingstars, Queers weren't being denied social services, queer employees were going to be denied spousal benefits due to the Church's view of marriage making the Church be in violation of its contracts with the city. DC refused to offer a religious exemption.

Society can go to Hell if it wishes, but the Church will not aid and abet in the process. DC was the one saying, 'If you want to continue partnering with the us, then you cannot follow your faith teachings. How is that fair?

  • No where in the catholic teachings does it say that you can treat another human being as second class citizens, the church doesn't have to marry them so they are not going against their religious beliefs and this is beyond stupid, the catholic church helps everybody and they hire people who do not believe in what the catholic church believes and these people still get benefits and i'm sure they go against the teachings of the church and they still get benefits.

  • @SShootingstars, Giving spousal benefits to a queer couple would be condoning the relationship tacitly & implicitly.

And the benefits Catholic Charities employees' receive do not contradict Catholic moral teaching. No on who has health coverage can get abortions or birth control due to the Church's position & Catholic Charities would close its doors if ever required to provide it.

In any case this is all moot, Catholic Charities dropped spousal benefits in general in order to stay open.

  • No it wouldn't because quite frankly the Catholic church has no business in your private life, such as if you chose to wear a condom, or had pre-marital sex the church has no business to fire you, give you warnings etc. They don't have to know who you're married to etc it's none of their business.

  • @SShootingstars, Um, you aren't entitled to benefits or a job. Employers offer benefits as incentives for ppl to work for them. If you don't like the incentive package or the limits they place on them then you can choose to work elsewhere.

Likewise, you're not entitled to be hired. You work at your employers leisure & they have every right to demand you behave a certain way as a prerequisite to hiring. Universities & jobs call this a "Code of Ethics." If you don't like it, work elsewhere.

  • @wood9670, What if Planned Parenthood were told that as a condition of public funding it had to refer Catholic women having 2nd thoughts about abortion to a crisis pregnancy center, it would scream violation of church and state, refuse the money and end the program.

The situation is no different with Catholic Charities. The Church is being told that as a condition of public funding it had to recognize a definition of marriage & by extension a use of human sexuality in opposition to God's will.

  • Churches can preach anything they want, they are not forced to marry gay people, however the issue becomes discrimination, if they hired a homosexual which is where all this boils down to they are forced to give them benefits since they are married which boils down to equal protection under the law. The church can be disproving it can even get away with not hiring gay people to a certain extent they can't get away with such blatant discrimination.

  • @SShootingstars, The church does not believe that it has to, as a condition of public funding, essentially subsidize a lifestyle it finds immoral?

DC valued spousal benefits to gay couples over the children harmed due to their unwillingness to grant religious exemptions.

The Church is in the business of saving souls, charity is 2nd. It the work of charity compromises its first end (upholding God's will) then t will end its charitable activities.

  • Are we talking about the same church? I mean what they protect pedophiles but they are against gay people getting married and being faithful to each other? They tell people in AIDS stricken countries that it's not okay to use a condom because God doesn't want it, and then lie and tell them that condoms are useless? The church is immoral and yet it does not to check itself before critisizing others.

  • @SShootingstars , okay so now you are no longer trying to understand the issue and are now trying to win an argument by attacking.

With that I take my leave.

May you one day overcome your bigotry.

  • @wood9670 May you one day overcome your delusions that the Catholic church is a source of good.

It's your choice. Wake up and see the blatant reality of this archaic hypocritical dinosaur, or drink the Kool-Aid and continue on your road of denial.

    The choice is yours.

  • I understand the issue perfectly, and it's not bigotry. I'm nailing the Catholic church for it's hypocracy, if they want to preach about immorality they should check themselves first. I have nothing against Catholics let alone christianity,I just want to point the fact that the Catholic church itself is not a pillar of moral fortitude they are in the wrong constantly these days and they are in the wrong here, They have protected pedophiles but they refuse to give a loving couple benefits?

  • @wood9670 The church is not in the business of saving souls. It's in the business to make money, and serve (read: protect) it's own interest.

It's there to save it's own ass. Noting more.

  • @brianh406 Yeah same for the governemnt! Your right , let all the murderers go. Heck why should we call anything murder, just another opinion. How dare people judge!! Who's to judge whats right no body!!. Everything goes. no problem right? You are so stupid, its actually funny

  • @1seticat ???? Murders?? Where does that fit in?

We are talking about a hypocritical church and its followers. The churches big problem with pedophilia and sex and you resort to murderers??

    -Youre Stupid-

Then again you believe in a invisible Mystical noodle in the sky, what was I expecting.....LMFAO!

  • @brian 406 Can't answer my question! Remember U said, if U can't see it, it can't exist. This was i believe your "logic" as to why religion is stupid. i pointed out that one can't "see" love as its an emotion. Why have you dropped that discussion? Brain freeze ? Gte your GED and we'll talk again

  • @1seticat GED? Why do xtians always ALWAYS resort to throwing stones? Aren't you suppose to turn the other cheek? Oh you must be one of them Millennium xtians, you're rewriting the bable to fit your lifestyle, a lifestyle of throwing stones.

  • @brian 406 Naw we throw stones as long as they're in the right direction. Another misconception on you're part. U are consistent. Same as the distortion of "do not judge" Wrong there as well. I'm not a protestant so no I'm not rewriting the Bible. U seem to care an awful lot about something you don't believe in. Don't you have anything better to do? Why not go to a blog site for "atheists are us" That way you can talk all day long with your "enlightened" friends.

  • @1seticat Yes, we can see love. We know the exact chemicals that produce love. We can take them out and look at them. We can inject them and measure them.

In the future, be more intelligent.

  • @brian 406 There U go again lumping all together. OK when U state that the Church is hypocritical, UR taking about the whole Church or don't you know that? Therefore, what part of the Church's official position is hypocritical?? its a simple question?? Can you site an official position of the Church and objectively respond as to how or why it is hypocritical? Sure you have an opinion but you don't state this is your opinion so it must be a fact?

  • @1seticat I was saying not everyone is xtian, not everyone is muslim. I don't believe in the same things you do. So why would you want to force your ideologies upon me? If you say I am a sinner in your religion, and I respond I don't believe in your religion, its not for me. Why do you feel you can press your beliefs upon me?

  • @1seticat Okay, I'll tell you. The Catholic Church's stance on Capitalism is wildly hypocritical.

  • Catholic Church = American Taliban

  • Love doesn't rejoice in evil and God is very clear on homosexuality..it is an abomination unto Him. Using the "love" phrase is not what gets you into heaven. Jesus Christ is the only way into heaven and the Bible is very clear on homosexuality. No unrepentant homosexual going against God, will inherit the kingdom of heaven..neither will drunkards, fornicators, sluggards, adulterers, murderers and so forth.

  • The fella said, "I feel sorry for the Catholic Church". Pllzzeeee. Get a Grip! The Catholic Church has a right to do things according to their beliefs.

  • @esquireyes maybe the Church should do things according to the beliefs of Roman Catholics and follow the "sensus fidelium" - we oppose injustice, including homophobia and every other sort of bigotry and are passionate about helping those who are poor, hungry, homeless, in need, or in prison. That's what we Catholics believe.

  • And they do not approve of gay marriagess in any form. Even though the priests are a whole different story. Fact, it's the city's place and/or Federal Gov't to take care of the homeless, not any of the religious organizations.

  • Actually, according to national poll conducted by the Boston Globe on 9 May 2005, although only 37% of Americans approved of gay marriage, Protestants were more likely to oppose it than Catholics.

And a 2003 poll in Hudson Co., NJ--"a working-class, blue-collar and heavily Catholic county ... we surmised ... would be strongly against gay marriage"--found that 60.4% of Roman Catholics approved of it.

Priests are not married, and only about as many of them are gay as men in the general population.

  • You're right. Government should indeed take care of the homeless, and we shouldn't *have to* rely on private organizations. But if religious groups also want to help the homeless (as long as they are doing so responsibly, which Catholic Charities does), then more power to them.

  • Ref to religious groups helping the homeless, etc. And if religious groups do not help the homeless because of conflict of beliefs, then there's nothing wrong with that, either.

  • Fact. All authentic religions oppose Gay Marriage.

  • @esquireyes Fact: All authentic religions worship Invisible "gods"

  • @brianh406 Wrong Jesus was seen by others on earth. Nice try.

  • @1seticat REALLY!!! OMG!!!

    Did they take any pictures?????!!!!

  • @brianh406 I may be stretching it but is your IQ larger than your shoe size? Don't quit your day job,..assuming you have one. Read the gospel of St John the Apostle as well as Matthew. They describe Jesus and his actions as they traveled with him.

  • @1seticat WOW!

So your "evidence" of a Super Sky Daddy, is a book???

    LMFAO!!!!

Only Really REEEALLY ignorant people would believe jesus is anything but a human, who may or may not have existed.

I say show me proof of his existence and you mention a book I can buy at Wal-Mart........LMFAO!

  • @brian 406 That's actually a really cool name for God. I guess this is where I admit I'm older as I don't know what LMFAO means. How do U know he was only human? How do U know he disn't exist? Isn't it possible. A large part of religion is based on faith. U know, "Prove UR mother loved U? U really can't but that doesn't mean she didn't. having faith is really cool. Its not just blind ignorance. if U only believe what U can see, life will disappoint you my friend.

  • @1seticat Faith= believing in the invisible = Believing in the impossible = Ignorant to reality.

god doesn't exist, and if it does it isn't the god you claim.

  • @brian 406 Try this one if it will help improve your IQ. Does/did your mother love you?? If so, PROVE IT!!! Whats unfortunate is that if you answer yes, according to UR own logic, UR ignorant. If she didn't , it explains a lot. Getting it yet???

  • @1seticat What? Uh....My mother isnt invisible and has a voice....

  • @brian 406 I never said UR mom is invisible. I'm not talking specifically about UR mothers physical appearance but an invisible "emotion." She could be untruthful when she tells U she loves U. Scientifically, it is a possibility, right? U can't "see" love but because of faith, U want and should believe it exists. But following your logic, if U can't see something, it doesn't exist. Faith is a gift my friend and its not just restricted to religion. Is any of this beginning to sink in?

  • @1seticat Faith is, Ignorance to Reality.....

Do not call me your "friend" We are anything but.

To pretend something intangible loves you, to pretend you hear the voice of an invisible being, to pretend religion isn't obsessed with sex and death.

IS PRETENDING you don't belong in a Mental Institution.

Think, the people in Mental Institutions Love things that can't love back, hear voices and believe make-believe IS reality..

Open your eyes and look around you.

  • @brian 406 Faith is a gift & unfortunately not having any its your loss. I didn't know your mother was intangible?? But you ignore my original statement. Does your mother love you? If so, prove it? You can't. So if you answer yes, according to you, your insane. So the answer must be your insane or if the answer is "no" your mother didn't love you, it may account why you're disturbed! My friend!

  • @1seticat HAHA My loss? Lets see... I am all about human rights, I shed a tear for nature, I give my money to the needy not a needy church. I just texted my mom I love you, she responded "I love you too, A kiss and a peck and a hug around the neck." I just got a warm loved feeling. Difference being I projected a caring phrase into the world and I got a reply. You with your faith gets nothing back. -sad-

  • @brian 406 Some humans practise religion which involves faith, if UR ALL about human rights, why disparage them? Could UR mother be lying? It is a possibility. If not, then U have faith she's not lying. You can't touch "love" as its an emotion. If U believe she loves U, UR believing in something you can't see. Even if she writes it or states it, it could be a lie. UR arguing against yourself. I've seen actors do what you describe, they don't LOVE one another. U can't prove she loves U. FAITH!

  • @1seticat WOW, youre really reaching.

What the xtian schools primary focus in teachings is what and what not to do with your penis, how to cut the skin off of a penis, how you should treat a woman with your penis and when,

Faith is the belief, ranging from confident to absolute without evidence

The evidence is my mothers spoken words....LMFAO

You dont have a loving mother do you.....-sad face-

    ROFL!

  • @brian 406 Not sure why UR obsessed with male genetial or how that relates to the discussion. Why do U avoid the issue? UR mother could be lying. (nothing personnal) Scientifically, it's a possibility, is it not? So, if U believe she's truthful its because U have faith in her & the emotion called love. U can't see love. Actors pretend love all the time. So based on UR earlier comments -only delusional people believe in the unseen, UR arguing against UR own position. My mother died 1997

  • @1seticat Really?? The Xtian Churches are VERY VERY Obsesses with "genitalia".

Anyways, I'm not sure how to reason with you. You asked me how I know my mother loves me and I replied because she states it through hugs and loves and kisses and voices. jeebus on the other hand gives you none of that....LMFAO! Because invisible inanimate mythical objects can not love.....OR dead mothers.

Nobody loves you, thats why you're upset with Homosexuals???? Sad little girl.

  • @brianh406 Whats UR source for the genitalia obsession? U speak of reasoning? I'll try again. - Agree or disagree.? You can or can't see an emotion? Not the manifestations, i.e. a frown or smile but the thought? Actors give hugs & kisses in movies but that doesn't guarnatee love. So UR explanation of UR moms hugs & kisses doesn't prove anything. So what do U call a belief in something, like love, which U can't see? Can U see UR conscience? or don't U have 1?

  • stem-cell research is wrong.

women in the priesthood is wrong.

even to priests being joined in holy matrimony to women is wrong (as they would then experience the unmentionable.

marriage between people of the same gender is wrong.

Even marriage between one man and one woman forever, though one of its sacraments, is treated like a "necessary evil", tolerated only for those not good enough to be called to "holy orders" or the sisterhood.

  • Second

masturbation is a "mortal sin", reason enough to earn one eternal damnation,

birth control is a "mortal sin", reason enough to earn one eternal damnation,

abortion is a "mortal sin", reason enough to earn one eternal damnation,

artificial insemination is a "mortal sin", reason enough to earn one eternal damnation,

divorce and remarriage is a "mortal sin", reason enough to earn one eternal damnation.

  • THIRD

Jesus couldn't have any brothers and sisters, despite the mention of such in the Gospels, as that would mean that Mary and Joseph experienced the unmentionable.

According to the Catholic Church, Joseph, Mary & Jesus never had sex, John the Baptist didn't have sex, the 12 apostles didn't (at least after becoming apostles) , Paul of Tarsus didn't, practically everybody who mattered didn't have sex.

  • @brian 406 Which gospels recognized by the Catholic Church are you referring to. Too bad reality isn't the Davinci Code, oh well. Here we go again. WHERE can I officially reference these thing you state are "according to the Catholic Church? I'd like to read them Please tell me? Tell me and I'll send you $1000 dollars. All of it???

  • @1seticat Give you money to charity.....lord knows your church doesn't. Need I mention the billions spent on your lavish stain glass windows, bronze cups, gold accents, marble statues.......The church is sick and its followers are even sicker, neither are smart, both are dumb.

  • Fourth

Jesus' Mary couldn't even be conceived like every other human being, she had to have an "Immaculate Conception"

Mary had a baby, but unlike every other woman who has ever had a baby, Mary had hers without any sex being involved. She was a virgin not just before, but during and after the conception of her child.

  • @brianh406 Very good as Jesus was God and so no Mary was not conceived the way humans were. So whats the problem?

  • @1seticat You're sooooooo Ignorant. She gave birth to a baby, a human baby. The same way other humans give birth to their human baby's........You would think a "god" capable of making this universe thats how old? 6 thousand years you say. Would be more capable of something greater than to come shooting out of some whores Koot.

  • The Catholic message here by closing social services in retaliation to DC gay marriage is that WE, catholics, cant continue serving our poor and needy brothers and sisters just because we disagree with state law; AND the church, who should be models of love and charity, becomes the tyrants who make the helpless suffer and pay for state law. Christ did not deprive the poor and sick of his company just because he disagreed with the religious laws of the land. Shame on the Diocese of DC!! SHAME!!

  • So when catholics say they love the poor it is not unconditional love. How hypocritical they are.

  • Ok once and for all....there is religious marriages and there is civil marriages. Why is this so hard to understand! There's a Reverend stating that the Government will force him to marry people of the same sex, give me a break! Yeah like the Government will force them to marry my heterosexual non-baptized Jewish butt!

  • Basically they are threatening to punish innocent people if the government doesn't allow them to discriminate.

Yet again religion is holding back progress...

  • That's right. You tell them lady! =)

  • Most gay ppl are some of the most resourceful and kind ppl on the face of the earth. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THE CATHOLIC CHARITIES/SALVATION ARMY WOULD BE REPLACED BY BETTER CHARITY ORGANIZATIONS. PATRICK WALTER SOUNDS VERY ARROGANT AND CONDENSCENDING! AFTER ITS ALL SAID AND DONE, HE WILL BE BEGGING GAYS TO ATTEND HIS CHURCH AND WANTING TO MARRY THEM. WHEN WILL PPL LEARN THATCHURCH ORG IS A BIG HYPOCRITICAL CULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What kind of Christians are they? Cut off services to needy people because gay marriage so directly effects them? I left the Catholic church long ago. I will stay gone forever.

  • @odessyrcr589 I believe this was mostly a decision to stop the bill, they did not want to have gay marriage, exception or not, so they blackmailed the council by saying that they would effectively cut off much of the vote for them if they passed this. Many people would rather have such services kept and have no gay marriage, and they will not be as likely to vote for someone who effectively discontinued these services.

  • ....The reverend realizes that the government will not force the churches to marry the gays correct? They don't have to marry anyone they don't want to marry, there are plenty of people willing to marry gay people who aren't as bigoted as the catholic church.

  • Patrick Walker, are you ignorant or what? Who has ever said you have to marry anyone? Please, stop the bull_ _ _ _ . Your scare tactics are getting old. And who are you to think that gay people want you to marry them anyway? Enough religous crap.

  • God made man and woman to get married and

be together. Gay marrige is immoral and

calls God a liar by saying that people can come

up with their own truth. Repent and open your

hearts and minds to the truth of Jesus Christ.

  • Child get a grip! Its so amazing how you can bend the bible to what ever you want it to mean. They have done it b4. Whites against black , men against women, str8s against gays. Love every body and stop saying what god said becuz it wasnt god it is man that is filled with hate not god. Hateful bastards!

  • There is only one truth God wants us to be opened up to- that is love-one another unconditionally. Something you don't seem to have by the way you're preaching- like a true hypocrite

  • Civil marriage is a civil right. The Catholic church has no place in this debate. I will no longer contribute a dime to any charity that supports catholic charities.

  • it blows my mind that the catholic church thinks that this is an appropriate response... it's sad. and sick.

  • glad to see a dialogue going on this issue - thank you all for your comments.

keep in mind, though, that the pastor is objecting to an abuse of power by the city council, not necessarily the legality of gay marriage.

  • This is why I left the Catholic Church...it has become to politicized and hateful...perhaps the United States Government should reconsider the tax-exempt status of religious institutions...especially the Catholics and evagelical/fundamentalist Christians...who are hell-bent on imposing their bigotry and hate on the rest of America.

  • I agree. Many people feel the way we do. My former church that was once full every sunday is now lucky if it sees a quarter of the parishoners it once did.

  • We all pay taxes for a reason. If a church decide to practice this TERRORISM against equality, no more taxes exemptions for that church. Easy as that.

  • the priest or minister is an IDIOT .. he has the right to not marry people.. they are not saying he has to .. he has his religious freedom .. it wont change biblical marriage ... it for CIVIL marriage

that means the state can marry you and religious people have the right to deny you to marry you ...

they can choose who to preform marriage for.. and he has the right to .. just dont get the facts twisted and say this when its just for civil marriage NOT BIBLICAL

  • X-tianity at its finest.

  • Rev. Patrick Walker should not be talking about a subject he obviously does not understand. Nowhere does the bill say that gays can be married in a church that does not want to marry them; in fact it explicitly forbids it.

Catholic charities can be replaced if they do not want to follow the law.

  • Sorry Rev. Walker but marriage is a social and legal contract, NOT a religious one. If people want to go through a church ceremony that's their business but all the perks of marriage come from the state and not a church. It is therefore the state's decision on what forms of marriage will be legally recognized, how, when, and the legal ramifications therein.

This is political blackmail, pure and simple, for the purpose of sustaining bigotry.

  • God bless that women!

  • @wwe107

    HAhAHAHaHAhaHaHAHAHhaha

    Get fucked

  • @RawDangerMusic I already am and so are you.

  • @wwe107

    true

  • And this is the almighty Washington D.C.

  • I wonder how a gay or one of the Archdiocese were homeless and lost their little shelter they had because of the ignorant, bias opinions of other ignorant bigots.

  • I am catholic but I am horrified that the church is blackmailing DC in this way. This is not legitimate political leverage, least of all by a Christian institution. The message at the end is slightly more reassuring however.
