rhcp are my favourite band BECAUSE they are so unique and literally nobody will ever sound like them. music is about creativity and trying to create your own masterpiece not trying to be another band. you couldnt pay me to go watch a tribute bands concert. its an insult to those who write their own music and work their asses off perfecting their OWN music.

it is true that great bands are unique and that there can't be no replacement. maybe it is normal in canada to see rhcp every weekend but in croatia people have to be satisfied with tribute bands...for now...the crowd in the video proves this.

thats a very valid argument i suppose...i just never understood the point of putting all your energy into learning and perfecting other peoples songs instead of using that talent to make your own. if this band actually does make their own music and just does this as a side thing then i completly understand from an entertainment perspective but personally it doesnt interest me.

I don't get people who just play cover bands, it would get boring after a while. however, thats exactly what most of classically trained musicians do (in terms of bach, beethoven, chopin etc.)

I agree, but as a member of a band that cover and do their own stuff live, I think it's good to try other songs by famous bands - mainly for crowd reaction, but by learning them, you pick up some new tricks and it helps you to realise how the chords and notes use interact with eachother to crate a great piece of music. I do agree that noone can ever sound like the real thing, but its useful to learn and perform other bands materials sometimes.
