  • Terrific driving a short wheelbase 911. The tail happy reputation these short and narrow cars have is evident in the video. It must be in relatively narrow tyres too, maximum 205/15. The engine is soooo lovely, reaching 7-8000rpm by the sound and not reaching rev limiter. Oh those 2liter Porsche engines, lovely things... From a fellow Porsche driver, my sincere admiration.

  • Car is a hand full

  • great footwork !!!

  • wow great car control very good lap :)

  • Who is the driver and more info on the car, please... Super cool video!

  • @P51Russell

Driver is Pascal Pandelaar, car is CC-motorsport's 1965 Porsche 911 2.0. If i'm not mistaken, this was in 2009. Google it, there are some external shots of it and more car info on cc-motorsport site.

  • drives like a boss

  • Jaw dropping... Am gonna watch this everyday till my next race. A bit like a student who would sleep on his books to learn their content :-)

  • 2:35 OMG i had pissed my pants fu..in sh.t great drivin ... but why in the hell do you have so less grip ? well you handl it like a genious ^^

  • @RingMotorsport never lift :D

  • Which year of construction does that car have ?

Pretty crazy and skillful drivin ^^ Thumb up man

  • Passes a HOT-ROD Ford Fairlane at 0:54!

  • Holy cow, mad skilz with that over-steering 911 beast that wants to kill you at every moment!

  • The corner at 1:38+ is an amazing example of tossing a rear engine/rear drive car at a turn, and it rewards with a PERFECT drive off. Great driving, great angle, AWESOME sound. I love this video.

  • A esto le llamo conducir¡¡¡

  • Bear in mind that these cars use an "historic" tyre designed to replicate the performance characteristics of the tyres of the era.

It isn't oversteer if it's intentional. This kind of driving style is seen in every kind of motor racing throughout the 60s and 70s. It's simply a result of very different slip angles of the cross ply tyres compared with today's tyres.

If you put a 997 on tyres like these, you would have to drive in a style much more like that shown in the video to be fast.

  • @sinbaadi Yep you nailed it with the slip angles

  • Respect man! You're either completely crazy or insanely skillfull. Or both!

  • I wiykd say the tyres were made of wood actually, this is never the quickest way surely!

  • I love this video! I love the handling and oversteer of my classic 911. The watercoolers don't know what they're missing. :-)

  • @petrol88 The watercoolers are missing the sound among other things :o) The roar mixed with the whine of the airfan makes an aircooled 911 sound fantastic.

  • he beat their asses by sawing at the wheel

  • Pleasure to watch !!

  • 100% pure class!

  • A pleasure to watch and great sound! Scary when passing the Jaguar E-type. He didn't see you coming? Oh and was there a 904 GTS earlier?

  • @byf43 The E-Type was stuck in the middle. There was a slower car on the inside at the same time as the pass around the Jag.

  • @pizzy1969 Yes I see that now. Let me add that you have more skill and courage than me in driving a 911. During the 7 years I had mine I only had the rear end come out 2 times (one of them I managed to activate the window wipers while catching the rear end ha ha). But I see that yours must be pre 1973? Mine was a Carrera 3.2 with 8 & 9x16 Fuchs and optimised suspension.

  • @byf43 I'm just a racing fan with mid-level driving skills, and I WISH that was me driving the Porsche. Alas, i'm just commenting on someone else's skills.

  • I am from a different generation so I cannot appreciate the handling characteristics of this 911.

It seemed to me that as soon as you turn in immediately you face over-steer and you have to counter steer all the way through the whole corner. When over-steer is not enough mid corner you turn in a bit and over-steer continues.

This type of cornering characteristic does not happen to 993 and later 911's.

It is like skating through corners.

  • @golferchin76

    You are definitely right !!

  • turns his steering wheel right to turn left and vice versa...

  • Amazing driving!!!

  • S U P E R !

    Dd

  • 2:48 lol crazy :p

  • awesome!!!

  • Magnifique ! Ca c'est du pilotage,controle permanent du cap de la 911,delicate a souhait a tenir,chapeau !!!
