  • @XshowbizzcodgamerX Not sure if you noticed, but the Vette rocks on the Nürburgring and the 24hour Le Mans -- without AWD .. it's definitely more than just a muscle car. Having said that, I think it could gain superior traction with AWD and do better -- maybe not, but I'd like to see one with it! ;-)

  • @mbdulka Yes, the ZR1 -- bad ass. But ZR1s are 120 K ... STis are 35K. Put in 20k more into mods on the STi, and it'll smoke that stock ZR1 on the ring. Stock for Stock, yes ... ZR1 wins -- and should!

  • I'm having a hard time believing this was a z06. We never saw it- and even with big f/i kits on the sti, it just doesn't have enough motor to keep up at high speeds.

  • my dad owns a 2008 Z06 and my mom has a 2008 sti. There is NO comparison. the Z06 is a fucking monster.

  • Too bad the Boost Logic Supra scattered the engine after a few passes. The TT Z06 was making pass after pass to 226 mph on 93 octane making 1,100 rwhp. That is the advantage of cubes. Sick power on pump gas. If they wanted to just blow up the TT C6 Z06 beating the Supras time, that would have been easy.

  • Why all the hate? I drive a STI, love it, but Vettes are sick ... I race Z06s all of the time, and can't hang (I beat CO6s ... check my videos for 2 kills) ... Z06 stock for my Stage 2 STI is still too fast. If you want to be a Z06 in a STI, you'll need to bring AT LEAST a GT30 Turbo or bigger ... otherwise, you better hope the Vette driver sucks. However, as said, I'll eat Vettes all day in rain, snow, or Autocross, Hillclimbing, Rally ... Drag, Vette Z06s roast me for lunch.

  • @mbdulka I will slightly correct myself ... I have beaten Z06s now with my stock turbo STI on E85 :-) Now, the big dog Corvette ... ZR1 beat me (11.8 to my 12.29) ... stock VF39 turbo record on a STI is 11.7 ... so, there is still hope. I am still playing with my tune on my ECU ... going for the record :-) (keep in mind, this is a ZR1 NOT on slicks). :-)

  • @mbdulka 20g is big enough to beat a ZO6. But anything smaller you won't be able to hang. My friend Shane has a 20G and with that and his other mods he runs 11.3 in the 1/4 mile.

  • @mastrlegacy That a 20G on race fuel? I've never seen a 20G that low into the 11s .. it doesn't make that much more power than a stock VF39 ... it'll just hold that power longer (peak vs. curve) ... but, if you say so. I've beaten a few 20Gs with my stocker on E85.

  • @mbdulka He has a raw performance signature series short block. He has a ton of money into it. I think he should get a GT35 but he is happy with the 20G. So i'm not going to argue with him about it. And the 20G is a way bigger turbo than the VF39. An 18G is bigger than the VF39.

  • @mbdulka Way to put things in persective. Each car has its own uses. My c5Z06 rips from 0-100, because it is set up to do so. My blown C6 is a top end car. BTW, like your videos and your a pretty funny dude commenting after a race.

  • @mawk27 Yeap, each car as its own use, and of course, depends on how much money you wanna blow.  Next up is Full-Race Twin Scroll setup with Borg Warner 88-75 (a bit bigger than a Garret GT37) ... on E85, I'll easily push 650 HP. This setup will be completely worthless for amature rally and hillclimbs ... way too fast and laggy. But, you Vette boys won't be pushing me around anymore :P

  • @rallypros GT-Rs are automatic too -- so is the Bugatti Veyron. Most drag cars are automatic (faster). Shifting takes some skill, but it's not rocket science mate. A car is a car and fast is fast -- regardless of transmissions ;-)

  • Have a look at this vid, awesome corvette....now look at an STI in the same conditions. If you live in California....corvette all the way, if you live anywhere where it rains, snows, or is cold........trade it in for a bus ticket.

  • Hey. The EVO and STI are all wheel drive rally cars. The Z06 is a rear while drive track/muscle car. Apples, and oranges. Race a Z06 and an STI in a straight line? The Z06 will win. On a dirt rally trail? The STI and EVO will win every time. All three cars do what they are designed to do. Very well.

I never said that the Z06 is an LS3. However, I made the comparison to be fair and put the $34K STI against Corvettes least expensive LS3 @ $50K and not the Z06 @ $75K.

  • . The STi on one hand was engineered for rally racing, the Z06 for closed track racing. I personally race my slightly modified GSXR1000 05, STI just for year round commuting. Z06 when my d!ck shrinks and feel over the hill.

  • Really rally races? I didn't know that lol. STi's and Evos can't even outhandle an S2k, they're about equal with a C6 Vette. Nowhere near the Z06, I've owned both. STi is a joke compared to the Z06. Then again the STi is a cheap $36k car so I wouldn't really expect it to be good. Yeah maybe Lambos are Ferraris from the 90s. The Sti only hits 68mph throught the slalom and the Evo is only at 70. Z06 is 71mph, ZR1 is 74. Lp640 is 73, Lp560 is 74. So you're very wrong.

  • Oh and btw, I got such a kick out of how lacking your knowledge is about cars I actually went and looked it up. 2006 C6 Z06: 0.97 g average, 70mph slalom speed, 2006 EVO IX MR: 0.92 g average, 69mph slalom speed, 2006 Subaru WRX STi: .91 g average, 68mph slalom speed. So you're are very incorrect. They're not even close, the Evo is up there but still not with it, and the STi is way back. You're just biased towards American cars. On the road course they weren't even close to as fast either

  • Aps TT kit, 1300rwhp, and It will do 250mph. It tops out at 200mph bone stock in 5th gear. With that much power the 6th will be usable also. So suck on that.

  • HOw should I be embarrassed. First off its not my Z06, I wouldnt want that much power for the street. I was just saying, APS TT kit makes 1300rwhp with only 16psi and a tune(fact). The Supra probably uses 35-40+lbs, so it really evens it out. Big engine, less boost=Small engine, high boost. Z06 has double the engine, but the Supra has double the boost. I'm not saying the Supra is bad, just there are other cars out there that are just as capable.

  • You can get a used low milage C5 Zo6 for anywhere between 22-30k. The normal C5's can be found around 19k, how much are sti's?  Oh and the C5's get 28-32mpg on the highway, pretty sure the sti ain't touching it there either.

  • Well let's look at it this way, the subaru also has 4 doors and seats more people, has all wheel drive, has a better trunk, and you can get a used sti between 22-30k also pal :)

    Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Corvettes, but I also love STis, and they are both fantastic cars.

  • An STi doesn't handle better than a stock C6 Vette, yet alone a C6 Z06. I've owned a 550awhp STi, and a 622rwhp Z06. The Z06 is a monster compared to it, it handles ALOT better than the STi. If you didn't know the Z06 actually handles as good as an F430. Stats and tests have proven it, plus I drive both often and can tell you right now the Z06 is almost as good. So please shut up. You're very dumb, you're like 90% of the car world, think they know everything about cars they don't even own.

  • Don't know about a 5.0, but a LS1 with headers, cam, lower gears and drag radials will easily match it. Seeing as how a 5.0 has 8 cylinders to make the torque, I wouldn't doubt with a few good mods it could too.

  • Search Autotrader for 2001-2004 Corvette for under $26000 and under 30,000 miles keyword Z06. Right now there is a 2003 Z06 with 23,500 miles for $25,495 and another 2003 Z06 with 24,800 miles for $24,500. If you are willing to go up to 70k miles, there are a boat load of them.

  • I was planning on buying a 2002 camaro ss, but when I looked at the c5 z06, you could get them for about 5 grand more, so I might go with the z06. How much is the insurence for it?

    That depends on a lot of things, of course. I pay around $100/month for full coverage with Progressive. I have read from many people on corvetteforum who say the insurance is LESS than their Camaro or Mustang. That's because the accident rate is lower for the Corvette than the other two.

  • ok, plus Im going to make it a part time car, cause I have more cars than drivers, which will save me alot of money too. The insurence is the only issue with it so far. I like them both, hard decision.

  • If you are into drag racing, I say the Camaro is the way to go. It's cheaper and the solid axel is better for drag racing. Only down side is the Camaro is harder to work on and doesn't hold it's value as well. Now for road racing, the Z06 is the choice for sure.

  • ya, I want to keep them mostly stock, and the z06 with some headers will haul ass, where as I would have to do a little more to the camaro, but then the camaro has the back seat witch is nice, im gonna have to drive both of them several times, lol.
