  • Hey, it doesn't get any better than this--and--then............

  • "If you want to hear my piano playing tribute to Billy just go to my page. I learned to play by listening to Skynyrd when I was a kid! Please let me know what you think."

  • That look at 1:00 is why most guys learn to play an instrument.

  • One dumbass had to dislike this? Go shit in your hat, ASSHOLE!

  • This is my Skynyrd, not those goofballs running around today. Rest in peace Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, Dean Kilpatrick, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson, Billy Powell, and Jo Jo Billingsley. None of them ever recieved the appreciation they deserve.

  • R.I.P. BILLY..

  • The greatest piano solo ever done and it was by the best pianist that ever pissed on the ground.

  • Happy Birthday BP

  • Honestly it isnt freebird without billy powell.

Billy Powell was brilliant Like Mul211 said. He made it what it is.

Honestly I dislike the original freebird with the start of the guitars in the beginning. The version with Billy Powell. is EPIC

  • por q "%&$! todos los integrantes de lynyrd skynyrd terminan muertos

  • RIP!!! the best piano player!! brings tears to my eyes every time!!

  • the band is finally FREE from this cruel ravenouse world RIP all band members that have perished. "may the bird be free at last"

  • The post-1987 era of Lynyrd Skynyrd will never be the same without Mr. Billy Powell on the keyboards.

    RIP.

  • billy died the exact same day i got together with my girlfriend... soo sad about it but kinda fits...

  • i can do this solo and its intense, RIP Billy

  • Love it!!!!

  • I found out he died on that exact day while i was using wikipedia to search information about all the band members

  • YOU WERE AND STILL ARE THE BEST

  • No!!!

I just learned of Billy Powell's death of January 28. (Don't ask where I've been) and am CRUSHED!

Met them--Billy was especially kind, gently scolding me for being nervous and telling me they were "just folks--nobody special" but he was wrong.

He and they are all special--always have been--always will be.

    Rest In Peace, Billy!

--Fan since the age of six--

  • Billy made Freebird what it is. If you have ever heard the original demo with only guitars you know what I'm talking about.

  • @mul211 He was The Best the band has changed ever since he has passed it has changed from Southern Rock to (Rock/)Country

  • @mkonjhg1 In my opinion it hasn't been even worth listening to since October 20, 1977.

  • @mul211 I have and I do brother.

  • @mul211 I have heard it.I have the box set.It sounds like a"bar band"playing FreeBird without the keyboards.

  • Billy or none of the others of Skynyrd know or knew me but they have rode around with me in my truck, on my radio for twenty years now. Billy you will be missed.

  • fly billy fly

  • My mistake, thanks for clearing that up. I was just saying that Billy Powell once he joined up with the band, stayed with them throughout the history of Skynrd.

  • This band IS America. Bouncing back from adversity and tragedy to continually triumph. "and this bird will NEVER change!" As for Billy - he combined the honky-tonk of Jerry Lee Lewis, the raw rock-n-roll flash of Little Richard with some down-home southern-style kick-ass soul to create a signature sound and the back-bone of what makes this "guitar band" phenomenal. Long live Billy's memory. Blessings to his and the entire Skynyrd family.

  • RIP Billy Powell!

  • What a loss,,Billy was great, and He was my favorite, and the only original member that stayed with it. God Bless you Mr. Billy Powell !

  • I morn with you but your incorrect Gary Rossington who was in the band before Billy and still plays today. Billy was a rodie for the band and Ronnie (RIP) heard Billy playing Freebird on the piano and liked it so much he invited Billy to join the Band. Every one else that started the band have passed all ready.

  • Billy will be missed!!! R.I.P.

  • .r.i p billy wow their all playing together again.

    ^^^^^^^^

    .tonight
