I love hearing these instrumental alternative outtakes from Trout Mask Replica. It's great to be able to obtain a clearer idea of what the band are doing, and at the same time helps to appreciate how much Beefheart's vocals really make the tracks what they are. Also, they dispel once and for all any lingering suspicions anyone may have had that the band were just playing randomly.
@grimblefish Yeah, I definitely agree. Some tracks like Dachau Blues and Sweet Sweet Bulbs have parts that I only picked up on once I heard the house outtakes from Grow Fins. Going back to the album I can pick out lines that were either too quiet in production or overpowered by Mr. Vliets powerful voice, and it really adds to the album as a whole. Thanks for the comment.
