i wonder if it's worth getting sooooooooooo worked up over a hideous cadenza like the sauret - but you know competitions, which have ruined schools of violin playing across the globe -now there must be a zillion wonderful great violinists in the world - hehe
@jfxc1 I totally agree. First I thought that he was too harsh. Then when he played soft and gentle parts were so subtle. His accurate, clean, and emotional play has his own style.
Do you have any problem with racial dicrimination? If not, why do you use such a sarcastic and malicious wording? Or do you think that Chinese musician doesn't deserve being treated fairly?
Do you know how difficult this cadenza is? You guys just know how to criticise people in such a malicious way, as if you were the best music know-how in the world. I even doubt if you can play the violin "properly"...? Sham on you all!
its a cadenza, its purely for virtuostic display not for melody. I agree that music should be for listening and not a spectator sport but this guy IS incredible and i can appreciate it as music. Its not like hes just sweeping scales like Steve Vai, what hes doing is actually in key and has SOME structure and some melody and harmony
Look at his angry bow strokes. Im not one at all to make fun of the way someone plays, but that just struck me as odd the way he plays with such agression. This performance is spectacular though.
Bravo Ning, regret for not being able to attend this concert in my hometown! Were you playing the Strad which you played during your recital in Singapore in Febuary 2008?
not nearly as good as tedi papavrami

sauret must have been a freaking beast on the violin because the cadenza is 100x harder than the concerto.

The cadenza blew me away. I tried playing it, alas, that cadenza made me mad. Now, I just try to play Joachim's cadenza. It is soooo much easier!
