I know this list is a year old, but I am an Eagles fan who has watched Asante Samuel every game for the last two years. I'm not a fan. Not only does he not tackle, and shies away from contact, but he tries to jump tons of routes each game, occasionally coming up with an INT. The tradeoff? He doesn't shut anyone down, and gives up lots of big plays.
thats an accurate assement of Asante but it isn't ocasionally gets a pick he gets a lot(most in NFL since 2006 and 7 this season so far) plus he has great hands for a corner and attacks the ball when its in the air thats why he gets INTs off deflections from teammates and droped passes, he makes plays, however he gets burned but usually for small gains because he attacks the ball to well to throw deep and is the best player in the NFL on defense at getting the ball to wind up in his hands
I respect your opinion, and I realize that he has the flashy INT stast, but I would much, much rather have a Charles Woodson, who hits (and tackles) and doesn't try to jump so many routes, as well as at least 8-10 other corners mentioned elsewhere. I find him to be a selfish, borderline "dumb" player (not person...I would not go there)

And if you went by career right now I would have Woodson at #1 just because his career #'s and how is is still just as good if not better then he always was. Amazing consistency. I can definitly see how you would say that. I would agree with you if Bailey stays healthy this year. When Bailey is on the field, he is the best. But lately Bailey has been getting hurt and missing games. You can't benifit the team missing games. To be the best, usually you benifit the team every game. If Bailey stays healthy he will still be the best. But when Bailey was in his prime, he was THE BEST OF ALL TIME HANDS DOWN.
Cromartie is great, but just on the Chargers, Jammer is the better corner. Cro is flashy, gets insane pics and makes some great plays... but Jammer shuts receivers down. He generally won't get great stats, because people won't throw his direction. People won't even RUN his direction after what he did to Garcia last year ;)
hes not one and done, everyone has a dip in their career and he needs at least one or two more weak seasons to be written off like that. I still dont think any corner is for sure better than him accept Asante Samuel.

Um all I know is the clear cut # 1 and 2 CB's are Asumugha at #1 and Woodson at #2, hands down. And if you went by career right now I would have Woodson at #1 just because his career #'s and how is is still just as good if not better then he always was. Amazing consistency. I swear the guy gets better every year.

2. Champ Bailey (but he is not #1 only because he is getting older and gets injured easier, but he is still the best to ever play the game)
3. Astante Samual

I can definitly see how you would say that. I would agree with you if Bailey stays healthy this year. When Bailey is on the field, he is the best. But lately Bailey has been getting hurt and missing games. You can't benifit the team missing games. To be the best, usually you benifit the team every game. If Bailey stays healthy he will still be the best. But when Bailey was in his prime, he was THE BEST OF ALL TIME HANDS DOWN.

Cromartie is great, but just on the Chargers, Jammer is the better corner. Cro is flashy, gets insane pics and makes some great plays... but Jammer shuts receivers down. He generally won't get great stats, because people won't throw his direction. People won't even RUN his direction after what he did to Garcia last year ;)

I'll be honest I missed this list up a lot, it's not even close, I made this list using stats from Madden 08 and remembered Cromartie's 10 pick highlight reel 2007 season when I made this list, do you guys want me to make a new list?
