  • your phone speed suck.

  • I pick my phone up in the morning with 100% battery power. I have JuiceDefender installed. I use my phone for THREE days, and in the evening of the third day I have got round 10% battery left. (Enough for a call or a quick internet session!). If you really only get 15 hrs, I would consider replacing your battery with a newer one. Its battery dump to overclock your CPU while charging. This gives you... wait... nothing. Have a nice day :-)

  • same result no differ

  • lol stfu

  • i set my screen on speed 200-1200 (200 overclock), with these profiles: when charging 100-400, screen off 100-400, battery below 30% 100-400. i just installed this app a few minutes ago, so hopefully this extends my battery life noticeably.

  • hi i have a question for you ... btw great movie!

i have setspu and my question is why i cant move the mhz to like 255 or 285 like u do ... i can only do 200 , 400 , 800 , 1000 why is that ? why i can only use round no# ?

btw i have a samsung vibrant rooted , dont have a kernel or whatever it is ....

hope u can help me ... thank you :)

  • performance means it's alway the max, so not between the two.. you should do power save or something, it will be back to a nice speed fast enough..

  • ...minimum Screen On clock of 600Mhz? Really? And I thought my Chacha's stock screenon clock of 480Mhz was overdoing it... /facepalm

  • @houstonquail92☞ It goes to show you that speaking educated shows no color. Unlike your statement - it shows ignorance!

  • no offense.!!!

  • is it me or does those black hands sound like they should be white..?

  • 2d 3h 44 min 53 sec since unplugged. now i have 44% battery. :')

  • @leoforwow do you actually use your phone?

  • @leoforwow what did you do to your android phone?, my battery runs out very fast

  • @HAHAHARIC minimized brightness and animations. that's basiclly it!

  • how do you get your evo to just have the pattern unlock and not the slide to unlock? I have a rooted evo. everytime I want the pattern unlock, I have to do that slide to unlock and then the pattern, it sucks. any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • does screen off profile really work?

  • Set the minimum lower, no need to be running that fast, also use an interactive or conservative governer. never use performance unless your benchmark

  • @PrEdAtOrZ97 Most ignorant comment on Youtube by far. If he were to talk "black" then you would make fun of him too so where's the balance?

    .....?

  • How did u get ur notification bar to be black?

  • @PrEdAtOrZ97 wtf

  • use juice defender i get 15 hours with 25% left

  • @PrEdAtOrZ97 translated by a light skin(white is too broad) guy so that you and I can understand him.

  • I'm a running an Android ROM on my HTC HD2 (which is not a native android phone) and I get about 12 hours of 40% to 50%, and I do more than what you seem to be doing according to your screenshot. And still my battery life is not very good on that ROM. Basicly a non-native android phone usually burns up more battery, so I have to say you have AWFUL battery! :@

  • a very usefull video ;)

  • my optimus 2x (dual core 1GHZ) with 1500mha battery runs for 36+ hours with normal use without any tweaks like these, using CM7 Android 2.3.4

  • What is amazing is that you actually get 14 hours of battery life with any kind of use whist your phone was running at 600+mhz ALL DAY!!! Screen off or an you set it up so that your phone NEVER EVER went below 600mhz. This video should be taken down because it will cause someone to cook their phone taking your directions.

  • First of all you are doing it all wrong! You are telling the phone to never run at any speed lower than 600mhz, and then you have a profile(which is not ever being used) which you force the clock down. That part is at least correct. But you have to set the master control to allow you phone to reach minimum speeds. You should never set your minimum to anything higher than your phone's minimum possible cpu speed. You need to make a screen on profile and then set your minimum all the way down.

  • If you are too afraid to root your Android phone, why the hell did you get one?

  • Should I use this on my evo 4g?

  • I don't see why you should only go for rooted phones to be honest. It voids the warranty, and isn't for the user-friendly-seeking people.

  • Do they have a set cpu app for non rooted phones?

  • the Truth is Android battery sucks.......I am very sorry to say...but same usage on the ip4 will be something like 2days? 4days on Blackberry and only OS that sucks on battery will be Android and WP7

  • @shdxc iOS won't get you 2 days if you are using it like anybody would use it.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • hi great video dude... what about ur brightness is it set to automatic.. or full ... let me know please ... i m following ur steps on my HTC Desire 2.3 gingerbread.. thanks again

  • Very informative video, please get an IT guy from the getgo with your smartphone. They know about things like overclocking), security and voip.

I think it's a shame the software shown above doesn't have presets to maintain core functionality. So I say make it so the phone can still accept old fashioned wireless calls, maintain my wireless or keep my Nimbuzz/email synchronised ( Nimbuzz - "Not as Evil as Skype, Yet").

  • i dont think its even healthy for your android to use setcpu

  • Yeah, I have my DX OC to 1.35GHZ with all the demand stepping bumped as well. And I get about 15hours on a normal day, with moderate use(~40mins of talk, and 50 or so texts, with normal internet browsing). No screen off changes or anything.

Not bad, but you should be able to do much better.

  • I have to agree with everyone 15 hours is nothing, I got 3 days on Droid X with no SetCPU profiles, or it even running, Tasker can do more for battery performance than any other program. The annoying thing with Android, is that you have to install apps like these to get any really impressive battery life. Why cant Google fix that? They figured out the whole steal data over Wifi thing.

  • 15 hours of battery is horrible, my Ipod nano 6gen has better battery life and thats saying something.

  • If you're using a galaxy s of any type do NOT use this.

  • I use this and Juice Defender and easily get over a day of battery life on my EVO with the stock battery

  • Wait... you got 15h out of a charged battery?

    That's really awful!

  • @zpedro16 I was about to say the same but take into account that he is OVERCLOCKING his device, and overclocking eats battery like nothing you've ever seen before...

  • @bigsteamfan you're right but that just go to show that overclocking isn't really that good in some levels.

Besides a 600Mhz processor is pretty good for almost every use on an Android.

  • @zpedro16 600 Mhz is fine for calling and writing a note. For power demanding applications like 3D games, running HD videos and others, you need more...

  • Not bad, But you should definitely check out the MIUI rom that is the HOTTEST Rom for Android to date. I have gotten a record of 1 day 19 hours on this rom with moderate use. I did not even tweak setcpu at all. MIUI -DEV(dot)Com or check out some youtube vids on this rom.. I have tried many rom's out but MIUI has set some new benchmarks. BTW I am using 1-14 version of the MIUI Rom on an Original Generation Droid .. Still kicking strong.

  • What the hell? Don't use these profiles.

  • Lmao that was like a half ass review. You can really get more out of profiles, especially if you are Oc. I have like 7 profiles xD. You didn't even begin to talk about any of the other features i.e. Benchmark, cpu load, system stats, scaling.

  • I don't think you've understand anything on how cpu management is done in Android.

First, putting your screen off in performance is dumb because the performance governor only use the fastest clock which means that you for will never go to 125 MHz thus using more battery.

Second, your screen on settings should have a bigger range than between 600-800. Even if the screen is on that doesn't mean that you need 600Mhz to do the task you're doing.

I'd advise not to follow these instructions...

  • @stevegaron1 Is the advice still good if you include your two revisions? Which governor should be used instead? I'm trying powersave. Is there a better set of instructions you can point us to?

    Thank you.

  • @bjhanifin The only useful governors are onDemand and conservative. They both scale up/down the cpu depending on load but conservative uses smaller increments in cpu Mhz.

Here is what I use on my nexus 1:

    Screen ON: 125-1152 OnDemand (overclocked)

Screen OFF: 125-384 Conservative (Gets me the most battery while still being able to get phone calls)

less than 25% batt: 125-998 OnDemand (no overclock)

Less than 10% batt: 125-768 Conservative (under clocked)

    Hope it helps

  • @stevegaron1 make a sugestion for us noobs then!!

  • @stevegaron1 Personally, I don't think it's such a bad idea. Your response is a bit harsh i think. Underclocking to 200Mhz or so, does have its drawbacks because sometimes when you have processes that require more power and youre in the transition between sleep and wake, it can cause problems, which is probably why he set his governor to performance, remember he is underclocking. Secondly, his screen on levels are personal preference and need not be commented on.. You dont know his usage habits.

  • @stevegaron1 i almost died when he said he had it on performance because he wanted it to be at 250MHz as soon as he turns the screen ON.
