  • I really didn't think this was actually a high schooler, but his bow is riding a little far from the bridge. other than that is is redonk.

  • @nathpowe -- you can see my brother at our personal youtube site where we post our HIGH SCHOOL performances, concerts, duets...go to ~~ Musicasa2ndLanguage ~~ i know he sometimes acts like a 12 year old...

  • Wow! Can't wait to hear you give the Bach Cello Suite No. 6, The Prelude a shot!

  • When was this viola made? The sound is marvelous! I wish my viola sounded like that... Honestly, I'm still renting. (God, please help me find a better viola that actually STAYS in tune.) Did you buy it? (Random question.)

  • @MsSceneDinosaur -- i think it was made in the early 20th century sometime. the instruments that me and my sister sample here on eboyinc art part of a collection of instruments that belonged to a professional orchestra violinist who passed away a few years ago. their family asked us to help catalog the collection by recording a short sound sample of each one. we only get about five minutes with the instrument...just enough time to tune it and record the sound sample.

  • I'm a big fan of the cello suites :)

    Your playing is awesome!

  • @VirtuosoInTheMaking -- thanks...glad you like them. they're definately a work in progress for me.

  • Great playing :)

  • how beautiful, i just wanna play your viola in a cave and hear it fill the entire room up with this sound. Where do u get these Violas from?

  • @gvn933 -- thanks...its a fantastic viola. these instruments were owned by a violinist who passed away a few years ago. they spent a lifetime collecting them.

  • Very nice as always!

  • @douskara -- thanks...glad you liked it!!!

  • omg, you're amazing!

  • @Animeolin -- thanks!!!

  • Sounds better than some cellists I know. Seriously, good video.

  • @violadoc33146 -- thanks!

  • Awesome! Who's playing? Lol, can't tell from the camera angle....

  • @TheSingingViolinist -- its me (not my sister) c:

  • @eboyinc Lol. Ever play Ziguenerweisen? I'd love to hear it on violin and viola:D SO COOL! Watch that you don't let the scroll dip too much... Lol, like an oversized fiddle.... Fiddle on steroids! HAHAHA-I'm such a violin nerd:D

  • @TheSingingViolinist Ziguenerweisen is for Violin... not viola....

  • @heinsteven So? Bouree from Bach for Cello has been transcribed for violin. It would just be in another key.

  • @TheSingingViolinist I am Playing Ziguenerweisen right now. being a Violinist and a Violist, it just wouldn't be the same on viola.Bach cello suite works well on viola is because the viola is tuned an octave above a cello. thus the integrity of the key signature and how the composer wanted the pice to sound would remain the same. Ziguener on the other hand would loose both of the elements i just spoke of. i just think its un-logical to play a great song like Ziguener on anything but the violin.

  • @heinsteven :/ It doesn't hurt to experiment with different pieces on different instruments. Thais Meditation sounds just as nice on viola, flute, cello, trombone, or piano. Chopin composed for piano. Yet people still found ways to transcribe for Violin, viola, ect ect. I guess what I'm trying to say is just because a piece is written for a specific instrument does not exclude other instruments from playing it.

  • @TheSingingViolinist i guess i don't really want to bicker about this.... but i just think its good to respect the composer and play the pice on the instrument the he (or she) wrote it for... and now i am done

  • @heinsteven -- according to Wiki: Recent research has suggested that the suites were not written for the familiar cello played between the legs (da gamba), but an instrument played rather like a violin, on the shoulder (da spalla). Variations in the terminology used to refer to musical instruments during this period have led to modern confusion, and the discussion continues regarding the instrument "that Bach intended", or even if a particular instrument was indeed intended.

  • @spunxter we weren't even talking about the cello suites... so keep out of our business (p.s. thats over a year old)

  • @heinsteven my apologies; since this fell under the heading of the Suites, I thought it was relevant, and my comment is still valid even if was directed at the wrong discussion.

  • @spunxter its not at all valid to what we were talking about, we were talking about Ziguenerweisen. but yes i do know what a da gamba is, and as a Violinist and violist i was explaining why Ziguenerweisen wouldn't work on the viola like it does on the violin. read the comments a little more before you get all involved with it.

  • wow awesome!

  • @3carson3 -- hey...thanks so much!!!! glad you caught it...
