  • shut up everybody. enjoy the music.

  • I LOVE YOU JESUS WITH ALL MY HEART!!

  • Who's to say this song is about religion? Why isn't it just however you take it?

  • Sick of looking for your comment so here it is. You wrote it, you should know where the wrong lyrics are.

I know you'll come in the night like a thief

But I've had some time alone to hold my lies inside me <-----SEE IT?

I know you think that I'm someone you can trust

But I'm scared I'll get scared and I swear I'll try to nail you back up

Supposed to be, "I've had some time alone, to hone my lying technique."

  • @mikejoemarrs He actually says " I know you're coming in a night life a thief, but I've had some time alone to hone my lying technique" In other words he had some time alone to prefect his lying... that's what the devil was all about ... makes sense

  • we ALL take requests at one point in life...

  • This song is beautiful. All you people bringing religion into this need to stfu.

  • ...this song is more about being lonely and accepting your failures than religion

  • love the song so easy to listen to

  • no. its helaman. its moronic to be interested in having no sex, its also too late to become punctual...shes' doin what shes always done...great gay name...gay

  • life is too short to waste it on other peoples opinions, live and let live

  • hi

  • This song reminds me of my little brother who died in a snowmobile accident. LOVE YOUR SIBLINGS. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'LL BE TOO LATE

  • Comment removed

  • The lyrics are "I know you'll come in the night like a thief, but I've had some time alone to hone my lying technique." Not "keep these lies inside me." Not being a dick, just helping :)

  • do you believe you're missin out? that everything good is happening somewhere else? but with nobody in you're bed, the night's hard to get through.

  • they're not even a christian band or anything lol, so shut the fuck up and enjoy the music.

  • @KillaxKay13 You don't have to be a Christian band to make a religious song. You know the song is about questioning your faith. You have to be some ignorant person to think only Christian bands sing about religion.

  • This song says alot. Even though I'm agnostic, I believe that jesus could have been real in life. There is a lot of questions that i still ask of today. Atheist call Christians. It is true but the reality is that everyone is a hypocrite atleast once in their lifes. We just argue with what is real in the world. I just want people to get along. "Tongue tied in hate factory." Means that no matter how right or wrong people are with their opinion, they still lie to get away with their own mistake.

  • You all need to shut the fuck up and listen to the song. Quit trying to push your shit on other people; it only makes you look like an immature prick.

Listen to the song, think what you want, and keep quiet about it. Or if you want to say something, at least be respectful. It's fucking common courtesy.

  • I don´t believe in anything. So, .. good I don´t really understand a lot of these english songs ;D

  • Atheist, Christian, Muslim, whatever....this song simply expresses what so many of us fear, feel, love and hate about this life we live. Maybe, just maybe, the end won't be the culmination of the worst we've done.

  • @GoldenPig2012 Amen.

  • this song makes me cry every time. <3 ripmelissa

  • I just take it as something we all share, questioning the greater cause or power and being on an all time low while trying to let faith take you higher.

  • Everyone shutup, it doesn't matter if you're a different religion and you listen to this song. Im atheist and I love this song so just chill

  • Well Jesse is a Christian, so yeahhhhh...It's most likely religious. The song is called "JESUS CHRIST!!!" who's gonna say this isn't religious? If you aren't a Christian and know nothing about Christianity, then go and do some reasearch before you commenting about this song!

  • @crybaby87Crosby Well you're wrong! BTW Vincent wrote the lyrics to this song and both Vincent and Jessee proclaim to be Atheist not Christians.

  • @ososuperpowers If you actually watch one of their interviews, Jesse says he's a Christian, because he comes from a Christian family. And even if they are atheists, it's still a religious song.

  • Honestly, I don't think it not about religion at all and it doesn't matter. Just a great song

  • "So I'll know it's you, and that's it's over, so I won't even try!"

  • Jesus Christ lives!

  • Guys, shut up and enjoy the music!

  • Ahh, the chills.

  • Beautiful song<3 god i love this band.

  • who really gives a fuck what this song is really about, it should be how you interpret the song that matters

  • @OMGiflysm Thats a logical fallicay T_T

  • You know the best part about this song being on any website or forum that allows comments? It sparks religious debates because it's title is also the name of a man who was alive 2000 years ago. That's the only thing religious about this song. The name. Please stop ever arguing over the religious context this song is meant to be taken in, because it isn't.

  • @MrJakeum The song is not completely religious, but their are parts of religious text mentioned, like the Thomas part, which in the New Testament is when Thomas asks Jesus for proof of the claim that he had risen from the dead - Jesus shows his scars from the crucifixion then, including the ones on his hands. So i would say that there is a significant amount of religious context.

  • @MrJakeum But i also agree that the song can be understood in other interpretations. Personally, i think he's taking religious texts out of context, relating them to his own life struggles - but that's just one interpretation, i could be wrong.

  • My take on the song is that life can be lonely and disappointing; it's easier to let depression in....the familiarity of it can be almost comforting...faith is questioned and you want to believe, but are afraid to...as if anyone can take the disillusionment away....denial is a front for fear. I'm not sure, but these are just some thoughts that I took from the lyrics.

  • its about losing his faith...an he just needs some type of sign to get him back on track an he is referring that he isnt good enough for god cause he feels hes not the person he once was faith wise an thats why hes saying im not someone you can trust an hes saying we all have wood an nails cause we turned our back on him as we get older an dont believe im goin through the same thing i can relate at least thats what ive heard numerous people say about this song an is what i believe it to be about

  • music is diffirent to everyone, we see and hear things differently. just shut up and appreaciate the ears that God gave us all:)

  • Just When You Thought The Best Song In The World Was Over... It Starts Again.

  • I don't believe in God...but this song touches me in a way no other one does

  • @prich222222 then there is a God dont you think?

  • Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful song. ♥ But I can't appreciate it very much for I do not agree with christian beliefs...

I don't believe in the lord, but I do love the beat. x3

  • @HiddenInYourSight

They're not a christian band.. what a mongoloid

  • @HiddenInYourSight Well you can appreciate it, even if you don't believe in god, I don't believe in god but I take so much from this song, like the emotion, and certain things just strike me, its more than just a good beat, it can be appreciated for so much, even on nonreligious levels.

  • just can't stop listening to this... I love u God <3

  • i'm not scared to die, I'm a little bit scared of what comes after

  • Jesus Christ this song is good.

  • I have literally listened to this song everyday for about a year now.... fking beautiful song

  • atheist 4 lyfe ~

  • If this is a song about religion, why are you atheists watching and commenting anyways? That's pathetic.

  • @dtngothtslotat DUMBASS

  • says the atheist with nothing better to do but slander a religion.

  • @dtngothtslotat i don't relate this with religion, i'm not religious but i still love the song. Anyone is allowed to watch this..

  • @kaydollll You are absolutely right, but that doesn't allow other who believe this song is religious to spend 8 hours a day slandering the christian faith.

  • @dtngothtslotat I'm an atheist. I'm here for the music, not to slander anyone's religion. It's a beautiful song with great meaning, regardless of the fact that it's about religion it's still one of my favourite songs. Just because someone's an atheist doesn't instantly mean they hate religion. I don't hate it, I just follow one less God than you do.

  • @ItsDov Not sure why people think atheist are iconoclastic. Must just be a stereotype?

  • @ZOOMRichie Searching "Jesus Hates me" won't bring you here. Searching for Jesus however might get you somewhere.

  • @sdfdsize I think i know what I searched, its in my history and everything so shuddup

  • @ZOOMRichie LMAO

  • To those 9 ppl that dislike this song Jesus still loves you... remember that!

  • Just a heads up. This is YouTube. Not Dr. Phil.

  • This song is gorgeous. Truly beautiful.

  • Why's everybody talking about religion? I thought this song was about horses

  • @IWishMyNameWasIggins i wish my name was snuffalufagas

  • @IWishMyNameWasIggins

    HORSES......?.....LOL

  • this is so true its amazing how many people think the lies people tell!!.....ITS SICK

  • Such a good song.

    I love Brand New.

  • This song is not about Jesus you fools! It's about loneliness and fear of staying that way.

  • Even though this isn't religious, if you wanna take it like that, then go for it. That is the beauty of music.

  • But with nobody in your bed

The night's hard to get through

And I will die all alone

And when I arrive I won't know anyone

  • Comment removed

  • @sisi40 the title of the song is '' Jesus Christ'' he's talking to Jesus through out the whole song asking questions etc. he may not be, ''praising'' Jesus but he is the main point of this song I don't think your smart enough to realize that, and to say this song isn't about Jesus? wow your stupid lyrics are in the description try reading them

  • @sisi40 dude read the lyrics there is no way this is not at least reffernceing jesus

  • @sisi40 lol you're not smart enough to read the lyrics.

  • @ccaskins1 finally someone understands! haha

  • @ccaskins1 Lol never listened to it yet, but actually looking at the lyrics I'm getting that idea...

  • Everything good is happening somewhere else. I don't just believe it I know it cause I'm living that line.

  • God u r beautiful!!!!! He just used my cuzin to get me to hear this song and feel His Holy Spirit. God bless u for uploading this and God bless the artist

  • hearing this live changed my life

  • i`ve never heard more beautifull words jessie is such a genius at writing, i just love this song so much

  • i'm not religious at alllllll and i still love this song. <3

  • TO HATERS - christian or not, this is good stuff. alot of christian bands are great and dont get play. stop being so critical and enjoy ppl. i got alot of christian bands on my playlists because of the music, not the msg. open your ears. i remember when stryper's & thrice's sales dropped because ppl found out they were "christian" music... is it that bad? really?

  • Ooooooo, nice clean version - thank you becca

  • dammit now i have to go back and find davemathis2's comment

  • @ItsAllGoodInDaHood66 tell me what he said!

  • everyone needs to chiil. religious or not...beautiful song. i think its more about his uncertainity about of jesus christ," hes not scared of death but what comes after", so he doesnt know if there is a heaven, my personal favorite line, "i swear ill try and nail you back up ,you think we can work out a sign." i feel this way and i am unsure if there is a God but please dont try to convince me otherwise, its obnxious.

  • @lunalovett agreed, that's how i feel about there being a god too

  • Dawkins*

  • @adxndbdfie you sir are so wrong its incredible there are religious aspects throughout the song like "what did you do those three days you were dead" or "at the gaes does Thomas ask to see my hands" congrats sir on being incorrect all i did was pick out to blatant instances and left the metaphors alone so suck my hairy white irish christian nutsack stop spreading hate on anything religious and tell Richard Dwkins he is a cunt at your we have nothing to live for meetings

  • I dont understand the songs meaning??

  • Any which way 'We' choose to interpret this song. BRAND NEW! Beautiful song full of What i believe to be a slight "window" to your heart!

  • this song is seriously so magical ... I was listening to this song & then I got a sign my ex wanted me back

  • @jeansstayfitted Seriously? How do u know its the song though?? WB soon.

  • lyrics are wrong! it's "we turn out hate in factories" not tongue tied in hate factories........This video is FAIL

  • This song has helped me through so much shit.

    And I'm not even religious.

  • thought it was blue october at 1st, but this song is so amazing <3

  • This song means so much to me, I'm an atheist but I don't fucking care.

This song is just fucking beautiful in everyway possible, and so more than just 'religious' Besides, if this didn't have the words 'Jesus Christ' in it it and replaced it with another name, it wouldn't be religious at all..

Fucking jesus freaks and shoving their beliefs down peoples throats.

  • @adxndbdfie yeah, I still don't understand how this song is positively religious anyway.... it's almost like he is wondering if jesus is real or not. for instance one could think "So what did you do those three days you were dead?" that he is questioning his "omnipotence". "But we all got wood and nails Tongue tied in hate factories"- he could be pointing out hypocrisy in the religion. it's almost like he is questioning if there really was a god, why would so many bad things happen. idk though.

  • @kpgpwi64 Exactly! What upsets me most is that people can't just LISTEN to the song without questioning if its religious or not. It's a beautiful song nonetheless, they should just enjoy it.

  • this is ONE song out of the many that brand new has sang. if you choose think that this sounds like blue october.....you need to relisten to blue october. This band is great however.

  • I am not afraid and i am not ashamed of what you people think...I LOVE THE LORD! ♥

  • @GirlGoneJuicy25 cool story bro

  • @GirlGoneJuicy25 no reason to be ashamed. The popular thing nowadays is to follow one's own heart, whether that may be atheism, buddhism, christianity, etc. it all depends on personal preference, but all religions do the same thing: Improve your spiritual health

  • these guys sound just like blue october......

  • @Vinnygil incorrect.. brand new sounds like brand new. if anything blue october might maybe somewhere else in the universe sound like brand new, but never the other way around.

  • @sweav88 ..... ok blue october formed in 1995 and this lame ass christian knock off band was formed in 2000. They even list this band in christian bookstores as "try this band if you like blue october"..... sooo ya your an ass. I didn't say they sounded bad, they just sound similar

  • @Vinnygil Lol christian knockoff band? First off, you need to listen to the entirety of Devil and God are Raging Inside of me. That entire album is Jesse dealing with his own personal demons and his lack of faith in religion. Do they have religious undertones? Yes but to label them as a "christian knockoff band" is just ignorant. I suggest you go home and cut off the TV and internet and listen to this CD alone and just listen to the lyrics. Then you'll understand what its all about.

  • @StuDAar0n17 dude i was talking about their sound not their damn lyrics.

  • This song perfectly describes what almost every teen-age Christian goes through. The rough times in life where so much is unknown. It's so nice to know that through it all we have a friend who is looking out for us. There for us regardless of what we did.

  • <3

  • This song is full of so much win.

  • BEST SONG IVE HEARD!

  • the irony of this being my favorite song and i cant even sing more than 2 lines without choking up. . .

  • omfg, when the song started playing i just started crying

  • This song really helped me get over a lot of bad things in my life.

I adore Brand New, they are literally the best band in the entire world.

I already have three tattoos drawn up and ready with their lyrics.

But this song... gets to me every time.

    I love them.

  • This song is on repeat <3

  • this song is incredible i just...i really can't. too beautiful for words

  • this song is great

  • Calms me down . (: So beautiful !

  • Absolutely love.!! <3

  • <3

  • @ llyxbijillion. . . perfectly said man. PERFECT

  • to me, its a song to help you move forward. <3

  • its my thoughts in a melody

  • This is seriously one of the most beautiful songs I've EVER heard, holy crap.

  • It's "work out a PSALM" not "sign."

"We turn-turn out hate" not "tongue tied."

    And "PULL apart" not "fall."

    I am slightly obsessed.

  • @ManaJay6 It's "Turned out a hate factory."

  • @TheBouldBella I find it rude that you'd say that. It's my interpretation of the song & if you don't like it then just ignore it. We all see music in different ways.

  • I remember when this song was played on the radio. At the time I think everyone was going through a crisis of faith. This song came in just in time <3

  • hes questioning his faith. hes saying how is he to know whos right and whos wrong, hes asking god to give him a sign to proove hes really there but as i figured out he wount. hes asking questions, and his fait is crubling.

  • I relate so much to this song

  • Best song ever written by anyone anywhere.

  • 2:25 with my Dr. Dre beats on while baked = amazing

  • this song makes me think of how bad things could be, but aren't. it does make me think about my friend who died in a car accident from a drunk driver and i'm still not over it. it still eats away at me more and more each day.

  • Okay I need help, my ex boyfriend sent me this and he wants me to understand what he's trying to tell me but I just dont understand can some please tell me why he would he send this to me?

  • @Ptownzprincess17 He misses you.

  • @TheScout91 I was kinda afraid to hear that but thank you for explain it to me :'(

  • @Ptownzprincess17 he misses you. he doesnt want to spend the rest of his life.. alone

  • favorite brand new song!! and my confirmation teens love it as well. it's exactly what they need to listen to...

  • what does the "we sleep inside of this machine" mean?

  • @davemathis2 Listened. You're wrong. It's divide.

  • @davemathis2

    Does it really matter?

  • @davemathis2 Get outta here!

  • @davemathis2 Screwed up one word, instantly makes someone deaf now? Good to know

  • how can you dislike this its like saying you hate the bible

  • @Xxnighthawk97xX ummmm, sorry to break it to you, but a lot of people hate the bible.....including me, but I happen to enjoy this song.

  • Interpret the song how you want to. I hardly believe in Christ, but you know what? That's okay.

  • the song is about whats gonna happen when Jesus comes to get you, or jesse lasey... listen to it, wheater its religious or not, well if you know anything about brand new youd know that their far from religious , the song great, and we all wonder what happenes when we die, so i think its right on the money:p

  • i like this song and i'm a wiccan so there

  • Does anyone know what it means when it says, "And at the gates does Thomas ask to see my hands"? I'm thinking it might be a bible reference.

  • @Richnaut after Jesus was ressurected he didnt look the same, he was a different man. So when he approched the youngest Desciple Thomas, Thomas didnt believe it was truely the risen Christ so he asked for proof so Jesus showed him the wounds on his hands where the nails where that held him to the cross. So its pretty much asking if when you get to Heaven if you still need proof of God's exsistance and the exsistance of Heaven
