Spoon is very much a part of Indian dining etiquette since ancient times even mentioned in rigved.
A knife was never required to eat Indian food because Indian food is made in such a way that it is cut while it is being made. You don't need to cut it while eating.
If you need to cut something on the table while dining then it is not Indian food.

OK we DO NOT eat food with fists like that.....it is too disrespectful what that Indian lady did.....Washed hands, only right hand, and only the fingers.....and small bites. Food should be sticking on the fingers like thatthats why only small bites.
omgggg---I am a south Indian but this is definitely not something I hv ever seen. That was disgusting. Nobody actually touches food in ur plate. We of course eat with our hands but only with the fingers of the right hand. If food touches the palm, it means that you are not eating the proper way. The lady just used her entire hand and shoved food into the women's mouth. Thats soooo disrespectful.
@brotherhood0505 You invaded other countries, destroyed their culture, killed their people, stole their land, enslaved them, took what you didn't deserve, and you call us barbarians. That just shows how ignorant you are. BTW, when Europeans were nomadic "barbarians" and just wandered in the jungle, advanced civilizations existed in Africa and India where people constructed double storied buildings, and wrote books about astronomy and cosmetic surgery. Again...IGNORANT.
No way.... it's crazy, cultural differences! I've been to China and saw many interesting things but being fed by hand from your own plate reaches another level. I hope she hasn't said "Never again" because of that...
@aparaajita10 dude, i have seen people from orissa eat like that, with hand. I dont mean whole south india eat like that, but there are certain people, there might be people in orrisa who might not eat like that. Do not take it personally.
I give these people MAD PROPS for eating with their hands but give them a fork and knife come on !!
