Funny how joan thinks america is land of the whites it belonged to native americans ... U whites are basically british who are immigrants to real americans( natives) pls go learn high school history
"Giant" COULD have been a great movie--but by ditching Jett Rink 1/2 way thru (& killing off the intrigueing Luz early on), it stumbles badly, misses opportunities & becomes a poorly focused, inflated mess. We keep on wondering why Rink turned out the way he did--but "Pygmy" provides no clues. I think Dean would have been completely disapointed in the film--if not his performance--had he lived to seen it. He's only in a 1/4 of it. I had no interest in the badly cast Taylor/Hudson roles.
This was back then with White America, but since whites in America has been systemically had their numbers lowered, and having mass non-white immigration, this America that should have been more protected, is no more. Now we have to settle for shaking booties everywhere and degenerate so called "exotic" cultures in this so called "melting pot"
@JoanBeatrington001 That's a whole lot of ignorant gibberish. You make it sound like God gave America to the whites exclusively, and everyone else is trespassing. This country has always been a fusion of cultures, and fortunately for all of humanity, people with your narrow mind-set are a dying breed
@cokebaronacn No Whites are a dying breed, and its because of our newly adopted, brainwashed absolute pacifism which is reducing us to minorities everywhere. Racism is not a dying breed, because we will always be different and conflict is human nature, but Because of your pathetic pacifism, our race is disappearing
@JoanBeatrington001 Think what you will my friend. Unless you and an army of like-minded individuals are ready to take arms and recover what you claim is yours, your opinion makes no difference. At least the natives died valiantly trying to defend their cultures and homelands from the unmerciful white invaders, while you just let it happen and bitch about it on You Tube ;-) Yep, lots of dignity there
@JoanBeatrington001 And I agree with you, by the way. Muslims are overrunning many parts of Europe, and many white Americans have their panties in a bunch over the growing quantity of Latino immigrants. Yet we live in a "politically correct" and money-hungry society that painstakingly tries to avoid conflict with minorities and its international trading partners. Get used to it, we now live in a global village, and most who are opposed are cowardly since they do not act upon their beliefs
@cokebaronacn Thats true. At least you have the guts to acknowledge this destruction happening to our people. Watching Giant made me nostalgic for the days of fresh white civilization in USA, but then we were brainwashed into pacifism and have washed it all down the drain. But if we grow a spine, we can revive our people and society, but thats not looking very likely at the moment :P cause everyone is brainwashed and too afraid to be called "racist" even if the facts are right in front of them
@JoanBeatrington001 I'm actually Mexican-American of mixed European and Native ancestry, but nonetheless, I acknowledge your point of view. I believe one of the messages Giant wanted to get across was tolerance and even harmonic coexistence between significantly different cultures. If Giant wasn't a controversial film at the time, it sure had the potential to be... but I guess our interpretations of the film are not alike.
@cokebaronacn True. Well yea, i did see the message it was putting across, but even back then, they wouldnt have imagined that one day they would become 100% pacifist and non-defensive and allow their culture and people to disappear. Back in the Giant days, it was promoting tolerance, but its good to draw a line somewhere, or else everything that your people represents could be in danger if your tolerance turns into total pacifism.
@JoanBeatrington001 We're not being destroyed. All that's happening is that we're getting a new set of genome allelle's mixed in to the bloodline of our children, that's all. The differences in race are only skin deep. If people from other countries act any different, it's because they were raised in a different culture, not because their brains are naturally hardwired that way.
James Dean was so beautiful. Each time I see his performances, my eyes well up. I think it is because the characters he played were a lot like him. He really was to be admired because he accomplished so much in such a short time and did it by himself. He had such sadness in him.
A classic movie, i saw this in elementary school when i was 10 and blew me away. Liz Taylor was cute in this movie i agree and James gave a good performance
September 30, 2010 ~ 55 years today since James Dean died. Today is also my 49th wedding anniversary; I specifically picked this date because of James Dean. It also makes it easy to remember our anniversary. ♥+♥=♥♥
I love my husband, but I will also always love James Dean. ♥
I wish someone would please upload the fight scene from the diner - where Sarge and Benedict beat each other silly! That was A+++ and this whole movie is great!
LOL!! You mean WACO...home of Jennifer Love Hewitt! Don't mess w/Texas...ha ha....but you have good musical taste... I got that song via a cassette; I'd placed an ad in "Goldmine" Magazine or something... the collector was an insurance agent...go figure! "This land is Texas Lone Star State of Texas This is the GIANT Land I love!"
i love Elizabeth Taylor in this movie - her character Leslie Benedict is an inspiration to anybody who leaves home to start a new life in a totally different setting.

What was the name of the city between El Paso and Waco?
pourmoinyc 3 years ago
Now THAT is an obscure question. I lived in
Houston,but I wouldn't know this answer. I
don't know the name of EVERY Texas city;just
the major ones.
Look it up on a map...thanks for asking...
RonaldVaughan 3 years ago
I was referring to the lyrics of the song.
Its first verse is "Austin, Houston, Alamo, El Paso, (missing city) and Waco." You provided the last verse.
