A great tip which nobody seems to mention is to make sure your chain is in the top (biggest ring) at the front, that way if you slip you don't shred your hand on the teeth.
I've got an old bike and the pedals will not come off, I think due to corrosion. I've soaked both in WD40 to try and free them up but they still aren't coming off. I wish people would clean and grease threads before reinstalling parts.
Thats the level that you think at. If you want to think that way about heteros itisn't so pretty either. How about your mom blowing your dad? Licking his balls? lol I mean if you want to think on such a base level that is your choice. I am starting to think this is all funny. Here we are saying all this shit on a bike repair vid. lol
@mosaicglass you basically just said that you think gay is gross, yet you think its ok? *sigh* you seem like one of those types who think any race, orientation, religion, whatnot is great and we should leave everyone alone to do what they want. listen. some thngs just dont fly. gay is one of them. Reaply if you have something intelligent to say.
yeah um mines quite tight...i kinda broke 3 spanners trying to get it off and i know i was doing it correctly...do they wield them? cause my bmx is fairly old..like 7 years old and a bit rusty. lol
What if the ravages of time have fused my friggin pedal to the crank shaft, what the hell do I do then? I have the same exact bike they use in this video and it aint so easy.
Mine was on there super tight. I ended up using an adjustable wrench and tighten it as tight as I could and used a hammer like Crazedmodder said and smacked it hard a half dozen times and voila it came loose. I didn't have to lean it against a wall. If u guys want to, its cool
I was REALLY striggling to get get my RIGHT pedal removed so that I could replace it with an SPD type. Thank you ever so much for this video and reminding me that only the left pedal has reverse threading! Once I realised that, a little shove in the right direction and the pedal popped right off!
@ToyMashene This video says nothing about spray painting, so thats your fault that the spraypaint exploded. and if you bought the bike and sold " everything you had for it" why the fuck would you even bring spraypaint near it?
@noobishdumbberry fuck you dude, its a fucking garage. real men have tools and paint in their garage. im deleting that comment so i dont get any more replies
Stuck pedals: You have to use a breaker bar; you may have to remove the crank. To remove the pedal with a stuck crank place entire bike on a workmate vise-table and use a breaker bar on the pedal. On hex key pedals, use a breaker bar or an impact wrench and be absolutely sure of the thread direction. If you don't have the tools, don't try and fix it.
i have a problem mike the left side of my bike i tryed to do it lefty losey but it reverse and i ender up stripping it. how can i get my pedal off now?
@BonBon3589 Look out folks! It’s the spelling police. They are at it again. What cool sunglasses you have officer! You should go to Africa for a while and see what kind of tickets you can write there. I hear people in Africa don’t even know how to read English. What losers.
@alexsjunk Place the pedal you are not removing against a corner (wall outside) of the house or the edge of the garage door, anything that is strong and you do not mind getting possibly scratched a little, so that the wall prevents the pedals from spinning and then take a hammer and smack the wrench in the loosening direction. It worked really well for me, before that I tried penetrating grease and it did not help at all.
Thanks.. I wasn't positive that you twist the connecter to the pedal different.. so, i think i tightened it too much... i actually tried it the right way then went in and watched this vid, when i went outside.. it was already loose.. lol didn't know i already loosened.. thanks anyways!
No he doesn't. The wrench is turning the bolt the correct way. (You can turn the pedals the opposite way to unscrew the bolt, but effectively the wrench is turning the correct way.
When i worked at a bike shop it was common practice to overtighten the pedals to get the customer back into the shop for service as only he-man could undo the pedals. We used the park pedal wrench that the dude uses in this video, its nice and long for lots of leverage, plus its narrow to fit in between the pedal and crank arm.
Yeah, well that must be what's going on with me. My pedals are so tight I need a cylce of steroids before I can attempt again. would it help if I put a long pipe over the wrench handle?
sorry guyz!!!will find a bloody body in your closet hanging there haunting you and will kill you and ur family and if u want to stop this just sends this to 6 videos in 30 mins or this will happen good luck

Sure you can! If he wants to keep the bike light, keep the plastic pedals. If you want to grind and make some sparks,or just want the metal pedals, put 'em on!
(You grease the threads of the new pedals before you put them on so they come off nice and easy next time you have to take them off - not only to stop them seizing up. Same thing I suppose, but a point he could have articulated.)

how about you tell me or make a video to show how to take off pedals when they are in a aluminum crank with a steel insert
twag0735 4 months ago
I just changed the pedals on my bike in my garage.
I turned each crank arm I was working on, level, and pointing toward the rear tire. This way, I could use downward force.
I supported the crank arm I was working on with a small hydraulic floorjack, pumped up to the proper level and protected the arm with cardboard.
I took a 15mm open end wrench, and rapped the wrench with a rubber mallet until loosened.
Inspected threads, applied white lithium grease, and installed left/right pedals.
Done!
