I'm attempting to learn this song on guitar by ear right now and I can honestly say it's one of the hardest songs I've ever tried to play in the 15 years I've been playing. Basically I cannot play it like you Todd. Let alone SING while I play it. I love the riff and the lyrics. I've been finding that a lot of the originals on youtube may feature amazing voice but those other aspects like lyrics and riffs are often not quite up to par.

But this, I just really liked the fast rhythm and the ambiguous yet reflective words.

I agree. Covers are great and all but they aren't going to get you off of youtube very easily. Skillful songwriters such as Todd will, however. In fact, I have yet to find any songwriters who are brilliant besides Todd. I have found some pretty good rappers, though.
