Thanks Blackie for another well thought out, common sense review. I've considered this fero tool before but kinda ruled it out due to its' size. You've convinced me of it's value and I'm now off the fence and thanks to your recommendation I will be I'll be adding it to my kit.

Where are located Mr. Black Oracle? I'm in So Ga. Would like to take one of your course. However, I'm old and beat up, but would like to give survival training a hot. I used to follow my Dad in the woods as a kid and have a few skills. Ditto on that forgo rod. The wife and I sit around a fire in the fire pit on cold nights. I refuse to use anything but my ferro rod to start the fires.I've struck hard when the stuff was damp and it "danced" until it caught a pine cone afire.
