hey lordstepalize, this vodka sauce goes well on most any barbecue, -pork, chicken, beef.....caution, it has a kick and too much of it can get you a DUI! (: -BBQ Pit Boys
This is great. I've been doing some experiments with bbq sauces, never added vodka for flavor. I am gonna try that. Maybe whisky? Keep up the good work BBQ Pit Boys!
Just a quick question for you BBQ Pit Boys. When you make all of your sauces and you use ketchup, does that ketchup end up turning into a different flavor? I'm not to the BBQ scene but definitely interested in starting up making my own sauce, but I just want to make sure that when you make the BBQ sauce with ketchup, the sauce doesn't come out tasting like ketchup. Keep up the great vids! Loving every single one of 'em!
good question, UndeadCircus. Many Pit Masters in competition use ketchup as the basis for their sauce. It saves a lot of time stewing tomatoes for a thick sauce. Use a good brand, add your spices, and you will be pleased. -BBQ Pit Boys
hey eckankar, just an import black iron. Potatoes peeled, halved, roasted indirect at about 350f with some garlic butter baste is as good as eating gets off the Q! -BBQ Pit Boys
This is GOOD STUFF!!! A word of advice-Don't try to save the $ and try cheap vodka-It just isn't the same. I adjusted my batch a little by adding some onion powder (What can I say, I just like onion) and replaced the sugar with Steen's pure cane syrup. (1/8 cup). Pure cane syrup is easy to find here in Cajun country, and is more tart than maple syrup. AWESOME on some St. Louie ribs......
like your version for sure, duster413. Whenever we make this sauce it gets rave reviews even before they know the ingredients. And you're right about using premium vodka. We used a premium Polish Vodka called Sobieski. It's the rye grass and triple filtered distilling perhaps....-BBQ Pit Boys
hey jerseyirish, amen brother. There's some magic in this sauce for sure. Hard to explain until you make a batch. Makes any q better. And anyone you serve it to wants the recipe. Much obliged -BBQ Pit Boys
How about some whisky instead of vodka? Also can you tell me what is whisky oil and have you used it in any of your recipes? Thank you for GREAT videos and recipes! I really enjoy watching them, greetings from Finland.
hey Akti03, Sure you can use whiskey but it will change the taste of this sauce for sure. Add some Turkey, or Jack to get that oak barrel bite or some Canadian or Scotch for a smoother taste. Yahooo, pass me some of that turkey sauce!! -BBQ Pit Boys
hey LucLeFou, we use up the sauce pretty quickly so i can't give you a good answer. But storing in a glass bottle for several months in a refrigerator should not be a problem because of the acidity in the sauce! -BBQ Pit Boys
hey conodelamadreputa, sure you can but remember tequila has a much more pronounced flavor and may dominate the flavor of the sauce. I've never used tequila in this recipe so i can't give you any suggestions on changing the ingredients. Try it with a small batch and tweak it to your liking. Let us know how it turns out. Sound like a winner. -BBQ Pit Boys
What is the first spice you put in ? It sounds like you say ground cupid. Im from Denmark and I need to know whats in it, so I can find something, almost like it. Unfortunatly, we dont have the same wide range of spices you have.
hey bluenezumi, it's called cumin, or in this case it's ground cumin seeds. It should be available in Denmark since it's a common spice used in the Near East, India, Greece. It has a distinctive flavor and strong aroma. It is usually included in many Barbecue recipes here in the States. -BBQ Pit Boys
what i really like about this bbq sauce is that you get to have a few vodka collins while you're waiting for the sauce to finish simmering. thanks bbq pit boys
That just sounds so good! Beats any store bought sauces, bar none :) (I wonder if you could substitute whiskey for the vodka, and if so, would you need to change for sugar?) We luvs the BBQ pit boys!
i hate you man.. I always go to steakhouse everytime i see your video lol. Keep it coming, ill try one of your recipe soon - i gotta get a grill first - peace!
Just to clarify - Did you use that entire bottle of ketchup? You said a quart? I'm going to try to make this the next time I bbq. Thanks for the video.
this is awesome!

Damn it that was hot. I just made this sauce, and it´s soooooo freaking hot.
Followed your recipe exactly. The vodka really brings forth the cayenne and chili flavors.
Gonna use this in mild doses.

Why did you use white sugar in this sauce and brown sugar in the jalapeno sauce?

I use brandy but vodka sounds good
WSSD13DANKST3R 2 years ago 2
Vodka is useful in that it has almost no flavor on it's own, so all it does is enhance the other ingredients.
Brandy would bring some extra flavor to the party... so that's good!

Have you tried REAL schnapps from Austria? It's about as strong as white lightning, and the cinnamon variety is amazing in this...
