  • but... what is the point of re-writing it in a more complicated way?????? OOO__OOO

  • my brain went :P

  • i read somewheres that korean is similar to turkish. is that true?

  • @burak432 no relation

  • When I write English, (and all people in my class as well) I tilt my paper and write at an angle. Is it the same for writing Korean? Thankyou!

  • When I see this I guess my Korean handwriting must look like Korean kids one XD

  • @lae1819 cool ... korean kids one is better : ) very honest and innocent

  • I love your handwriting.

  • good god and i thought i wrote bad ahhahaha damn :P dude u did the first one wrote hard to read but i was readable the second one i thought u had a some kind of panic attack

  • I can read 99% of what you wrote! BUT I think that's because I made my Korean friend write alot of sentances with a light pen so that I later could look at her writing and see which lines she drew first... after alot of guessing and checking.. haha after two years now, I've got my own handwriting! :D

Thank you for your video~! 감사해요!

  • I want my own type of handwriting! Lol I just write all.,,, computerized! HA

  • Its gonna get a little bit hard to get used to it... but its ok for me ^^

  • @Bristy90 um, I think.... you should study a lot how native Korean write hangul. and practice like how they write!TT

  • just one question what does Hangul mean??? thxxxxx

  • @merci2505 it's the korean alphabet :)

  • @merci2505 it's the korean alphabet! :D

  • awe man i wish i can write as pretty as you.. my handwriting looks exactly like the text book darn it!

  • gosh I don't know how many years it'll take for me to be able to write like that

  • So what I wonder is that, will my handwriting also become cursive like that if I write a lot or is it something you have to practice specifically?

  • omg -_-

    it's lovely though.

  • wow! I love your handwriting! It's really beautiful!

  • I.m from Europe and i cant understant anything you wrote there. xD

  • 감사함니다! This is very helpful. I'm having a hard time finding more handwritten 한글though. Anyone knows where I can find more?

  • Oh lord, I've got some work to do.

  • ur handwriting is soo pretty

    mine looks so noob ^^

  • i realized hoow bad i'm in reading korean ㅋㅋㅋ

감사합니다 for making me realize that ^^

  • Wow thanks for posting this!

I'm taking Korean101 in uni atm, and my prof's writing is pretty much like your second one, I have to stop him like every ten minutes to ask what he wrote lol.

Also, what is the dict form of cold? I thought it was 주위다 right, but then when you conjucate a neutral vowel in the past tense do you always add the 어 so it becomes 워?

Anyway thanks for your videos, I've subscribed!

저 비디오가 재미있 지만 좋아요! 나는 판을 있어요. 감사하아요.

  • @thundersites

    감사하요*

  • He wrote as:

    안녕하세요 (= Hello)

    감사합니다 ( = Thank you)

만나서 반갑습니다 ( = Nice meet you)

    저는 선현우입니다 ( = I'm Sun - Hyunwoo)

    저는 한국사람입니다 ( = I'm a Korean)

오늘은 추웠어요 ( = Today was cold)

  • 글씨체가 매력있네요. 크흐흐흐.

  • wow I am very bad a reading Korean handwriting and I write so slow I just realized

  • is really hard for me to read it that way, kind of confusing @...@ but I'll try my best to improve xD Thanks for the video :)

  • My writing in korean is more readable than yours even when im going fast! but when i write in english my writing is UGLY..

  • saranghae oppa!!! loved it!! I see I was writing wrong!!

  • Thankyou Hyunwoo ssi!

would you consider doing more handwriting videos?

  • T_____T helpful yes, but argh.. T___T

    too difficult to understand T____T

they should teach also the handwriting version of hangul in books T___T

  • you're killing me man... this is so hard. but the way you write korean is the way i write my english, so it's all good! i'll definitely learn it!

  • 질문있어요. How do you write on lined paper? What I mean to say is, would I write on the lines? Or would I use the lines as a center for the syllabics? I don't have very many examples to go by unfortunately and what I see from your videos got me curious. Anyway thanks for the video very helpful

  • @KpopCanadian

It doesn't matter concerned with any lines. :)

    It just a his habit.

  • your handwriting in korean is just like your talking in korean.......so fast ㅎㅎ

  • o lord its look like tamil handwriting mix with thai...my eyes getting round..doh

  • too much

  • what pen is he using. seems so fluid

  • Thanks for this video, it's the little things in life like this that help me understand Korean better!

  • what is that???

  • annyang_____? forgot the otther one.. What did u write in korean? I'm thai so idk korean writing

  • yaik !!! that's unreadable ... i am dead and i believe all beginner will dead too. but like you said, we will be exposed to this kind of handwriting. well ... wish me luck. i have long way to go.

  • oh crap.. i can read words written out clearly then when i saw this video it made me feel I still have a looong way until i can fully decipher Korean handwriting..

  • 한글 is particulary easy to write on paper. Some how I find it easier then writing Romanize

  • NOSE BLEED!

  • nose bleed..

IT LOOKS LIKE WALKING PEOPLE . wahaha

  • whew~ thanks for this~ now i would understand jaejoong's handwriting..xD

  • Just like English, whole point of using cursive is mostly write fast and comfortably. Korean writings you see in textbook are printed. It has very straight lines and etc. As you can see in this video, it's very cursive. It has curves and some letters are connected(like in English cursive writing). Reading cursive Korean writing should be easier once you get used to it. Because there aren't many style and variations like in English.

  • Do you have any preference as to the kind of pen you use to write? I'm trying to find a good, thin fountain pen to write Chinese, but there are so many options!

  • ohhhh quuueeeeeeee magnifico...!

  • what the... i didn't know there's 한글 cursive too...

after watching that video, 지금 눈물 있어요...

    ㅎ,ㅎ

  • haha. 울지 마요 ㅎㅎ

  • aigooo, you're going to kill me :)

I learned how to read it in 2 days...but only the computer version, its going to take me months to understand handwriting ^^

but I love your hand writing. and your english is really cute~

  • thanks, im trying to teach myself korean, this is very helpful to see the strokes and the difference between handwriting and computer text. make more!

  • I'm curious as to whether the people in North Korea writes Hangul from "left to right" also.

  • you write more fastly than i do..

amazing coz you write not in a linear motion, while i write in linear motion (latin alphabets)

salute... very graceful hand... i think most koreans write like him...

  • even latin alphabets users have many different styles of writing. some are good and some are messy and illegible (like one of my primary school teacher, she writes very badly, what i can see just wave, all my classmates cant understand what she reads except me)

so if the bad (in hurry) latin script produce a wave-like handwriting, how does the korean script lokk like???

  • it was explanation of handwriting in korean but this type of lessons pretty good for understanding.. this way is better than other videos at least for me ;)

    thanks

  • Very helpful, thanks a lot!

  • i wrote onyohasyo and i was like crap! I did this?!

  • 아우..나두 그렇게 쓰고 싶은데여..

어떡해요?? ㅋㅋ 배우는 방법이나 연습 방법이 있을까요?

내가 그렇게 써보면 한글 같지 않아..아무것도 같지 않아...just a mess ㅠㅠ

  • i think your handwriting is absolutely beautiful... my Hangul handwriting is obviously that of a foreigner... I think a lil too precise and still sloppy at the same time xP

  • Thanks!! :) And I'm sure your handwriting will get better for sure with some practice ^_^

  • 글씨가 완전 스타일 있네요

  • 앗... 감사합니다 ^^!!

  • IMO, It's a whole lot better than the alphabet...

  • hehe ^^;;

  • thx a lot.. but i still need to practice on reading the handwritings.. ^^ kunde, gomapsubnida.. ^^v btw, i still don't get it why the letter ㅅㅅ is read as 't' if it's the end of the first part of a syllable

  • Generally, if ㅆ is at the end of a syllable and the next syllable following it starts with a consonant (or there IS no next syllable) the ㅆ is pronounced as a 't.' it's only a 'ss' sound if the next syllable starts with a vowel. I'd try to explain better and actually tell you why, but I'd probably run out of space, haha. So I'm just gonna go with 'that's how the pronunciation works.' [[[:

  • I LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING~

    i really do ^^

it looks way better than mine~ hehe

maybe i should write more~ i think that will def. help..

write more and break the "proper" way of writing Korean ㅋㅋㅋ xD

  • Thanks a lot ^_^

  • I like your handwriting, nice and messy haha. I find that the more I write Korean, the messier my handwriting gets. It used to be all nice and perfect, then I rounded out ㄹ, then I changed how I wrote ㅂ and now I write ㅎ all messily. ^^ My ㅈ, ㅊ, & ㅅ are more normal-handwriting-looking now, too. ^^

The only problem is that I have such a difficult time reading Korean handwriting when it's so messy haha... But I still like it. ^^

  • Hehe. yeah it takes a lot of practice ^^

  • yep, I've gotten better at it. I think the fact that mine has gotten worse has made reading bad handwriting easier. ^^

  • Wow... Some pretty cool symbols and letters :D

  • Thank you! :)

  • I like your handwriting. Yeah, Korean language is sometimes hard to read when writer doesn't use straight lines. Thank you for useful video.

  • Thanks :) I'll try to make more videos ^^

  • keep up the good work

youre english is pretty good ;)

  • Thanks :)

  • 안녕하세요~~

the difference between 서 and 어 is that '서' has the sound of "s" in front and 어 is empty :)

  • Thank you Naouel!

  • Heh, After I watched your first video, I tried to practice writing Korean fast. That's hard...It looks like I was just scribbling on the paper. Even I couldn't tell what I was trying to write sometimes. But, in this video I read the first two, no problem.

I like your signature. It looks cool.

  • ㅋㅋ 고마워!!

"handwriting" in Korean is calld "필기체".

필기체를 읽고 쓰는 데에 문제가 없게 되려면 시간이 오래 걸리는 것 같아. 어떤 언어이든지 ^^

  • I recognised 안녕하세요 from the first video, but the rest gave me a hard time! I had to really think about it.

I left a comment on your KC101 blog post about the first handwriting video but basically, how do you guys learn how to write this way? We (at least I did, my 동생 hasn't) get taught "joined up" writing in school, we would trace over letters/words to start with to learn the strokes. Is it a similar method?

  • Tali, there isn't any kind of 'education' done on handwriting in Korea, but we rather learn to write like this by just writing a lot or seeing how other people write ^^

  • Wow really?

I guess I'll have to write a lot more then XD
