Who is Sonny Landreth someone asked...Eric Clapton says of Sonny, he is one of the most underated tecnically advanced guitarists in the world. Sonny was John Hiatt's guitar player on his first big album in the late 80's, and has played and recoreded off and on with John over the years. Sonny has played with and recorded with Mark Knoffler, and was Jimmy Buffet's tour guitarist for a couple of years. Sonny plays smalll venues and blues fests all over the world...Check him out....

But I'm happy to listen to either one any day and I would love to see them play together at a major Slide Jam. @Achuma13 I used to watch Duane when he and Greg were doing the Allman Joys and the Hour Glass, it was fun to watch them evolve over the years. Duane always played the old Fillmore East amped up.

Sonny credits Duane with inspiring him to go for a bigger sound; even has a piece of the shirt he wore in the studio during the Layla album. If there was a fantasy slide summit jam, I'd love to hear Duane, Sonny, Derek, Roy Rogers, Camile Baudoin [of the Radiators], John Mooney and Ry Cooder :o)

And naturally he grow up with Allmans,plays since he was a kid,slide stile as Duane,even tecnicaly superior,very inovative,and with his studdies of sitar and indian music he gave it a new aproach.Very precise,melodicaly and harmonicaly rich and no limits to tecnic,what can i say,i like the guy.Clapton must have thought the same when he took him to tour arround.Guess no one else could play those tunes the way he and Duane did together on Dereck and the Dominoes ¨Layla ...Sure you know all that
