Technically phenomenal dancers!!!! But, do you REALLY think the choreography organically develops out of this piece of music or is the choreography inertly grafted onto the piece of music? Could any other piece of contemporary music be playing while these poor dancers are forced to contort their gorgeously talented bodies. At one point Alina sickles her foot flat on the floor for a moment. Why was this done? What does it mean? Yes, very showy--thanks to the dancers.

@ploplisphilin I actually think, in my opinion, that the choreography is very musical! Because there is not a plot, and every movement does not have a meaning to advance it, the piece actually has to rely heavily on musicality-- and yes, physicality. While the aesthetic appeal of the movements do take center stage here, I would like to say that a piece can be plotless and still have a distinct mood or emotion to it, a "story" if you will.

I can't make up my mind whom I prefer - Alina or Tamara. Much as I adore Alina, I'd probably go for Tamara as she is one of my favourite dancers ever.

They're both awesome in this - and so is everyone else.

@balletnut For classical, I'd go for Alina every time because, although Tamara has technical brilliance, I feel she can lack passion and emotion. First saw Alina in Sleeping Beauty and her little girl lost look melted may heart, as she did in Giselle, even though I'd seen the ballet many times before. This is the first time I have seen her in a ballet where the emotion is expressed through the body in this way; I hardly recognised her. Possibly in this sort of ballet Tamara just has the edge.

i love watching alina do neoclassical stuff. she has too much movement and talent in her to only do classics i think

Iagree with "emmsteemastewart" (long! :)), it IS amazing to see that kind of neo-ballet dancers.

The sad thing is that it's not ballet that gave her this thin flexible body - it's the gymnasic she started from. (it shows)

Ballet brought it to this level, but those flexible muscles is what really "wows" us. You can't compete with girls that started in gymnasic and switchd to ballet :-(

i couldn't agree with you more about the ballet dancers who have had gymnastics experience. it's incredible how much more strength and flexibility they have. maybe they should start including gymnastics in ballet, just like many ice skaters take ballet to help them.
