The guy in the upper right panel is a joke, talking about a trillion dollars. What about the 14 trillion that went to bail out the Wall Street banks? Pretty soon we are going to be talking about real money here!
I have a premonition, that one day Alien beings will come to earth and hopefully remove all religions/ theists and their followers from our planet along with all politicians, so that we may live harmoniously together in a world of nirvana.

@deejayedwards Yes, and he's a total moron...irrelevant and beyond ignorant. Hitchens is a prophetic genius and yet again, laid waste to these simpleton buffoons...
"People have a right to their basic beliefs". Yes, and everybody else has the right to challenge those beliefs and ridicule them as they see fit. As an atheist, I do not stand in the way of the religious saying what they will about me, but they must be on notice that freedom of speech is a two way street, and I have every right to shine the light on ALL of the things they cling to with NO empirical evidence to support. One is free to believe what one will, and I can laugh at it all I want.
wasn't there some interview of palin where she was actually against teaching creationism in the classroom? she said something like "keep science in science class". that actually improved my opinion of her somewhat.
He wants a trillion dollars to go to the "private sector" to create jobs. The real truth is that it WILL create more jobs, in foreign countries. Big business does not invest in American workers anymore. They pay slave wages to illegals or foreign workers while giving themselves exorbitant salaries and bonuses. That's the Republican way.
Hitchens talks about Palin's religious fanatical views, and the other guy talks about not letting Obama take $1 Trillion from taxpayers because the government would get it, instead, he wants it to go into private businesses.
.
Don't private businesses/banks pretty much run the government?
@SunnySide247 I don't think he's talking about private sector like The Federal reserve. I think he's talking more about private sector as in entrepreneurs.
I love Hitchens as much as the next atheist, but he's wrong about the creationism bit. Sarah Palin said biology should be taught by biologists when asked about creationism.
@TheWad1959 Given that free thinkers rely on logic and reason, science, and the senses how come they don't all agree? If logic were true, all would agree, science is ever changing and what is not known will always be greater than what is known. The senses cannot tell the difference between a mirage and a lake. And reason. Whose reason? Bertrand Russell? An upper class English Lord with a very privileged life, or a street kid from Bombay. Hitchens? Or a Palestinian women in Gaza
@alienlifeform11 I think they'll also remember the depravities of our foreign policy since the 50s. We are indeed the Evil Empire, and it's all coming down upon us.
@MEpianist What a nice, masochistic comment. Why don't you contribute to America's demise and join a terrorist group so we can be done with you and your type, or are you too much of a coward to live by your principals?
@MEpianist while america's foreign policy since forever has left something to be desired it can hardly be said to be worse then that of any other big power- china and the old soviet empire are/were much much worse.
@alienlifeform11 as an American i would welcome that idea I'm tired of policing the world spending huge sums of money with no return. I would like to go back to isolationism and work on our country.
@SC1337 Don't get me wrong, America is a great nation and it's easy for me to give advice looking at it from the outside BUT in order to stay a great nation it may need to focus on itself (as you say).
@SC1337 I understand the notion, the idea of "retreating for recovery". Unfortunately, the world doesn't really work like that. Countries, which truly isolate themselves, are sure to decline much further and faster than they thought they could.
What the US needs indeed is an inner reflection and return to its core values but this reflection cannot result in the ill mannered games the US has played in the last decades, waging war for economic purposes and letting others pay for their own faults.
@SC1337 I am from Britain, and in an ideal world, I too would like there to be a time where we can forget about international matters and work on improving our own country (big improvements needed). However, that time cannot happen. I would believe that our man Mr. Hitchens would also agree that we have a MORAL responsibility to support and protect the world, even if their problems do not directly affect us.
@SC1337 Nationalism is a disease and Isolationism is bloodletting. This Hatfield and McCoy bullshit has got to stop. We have to stop being Americans and Brits and Chinese and start being Earthlings. United under one banner, as one People, is the only chance we stand in the end. We are not just citizens of a country, or even a globe, but of the universe, after all. We should start thinking and acting like it.
@SC1337 No country can ignore the global world, countries or mere arbitrary boundaries and identities that can only exist and be recognized through interaction with the world at large.
@SC1337 you can not have a policy of isolationism in the modern world. we live in a global economy, what effects one effects all of us. Did the wallstreet crash teach you nothing?
@alienlifeform11 No country has ever been in hard times and rebounded? Don't count us out just yet. Although, at this rate, if we don't see major progress in the next few decades...we will fall behind and become a shell of our former selves.
@alienlifeform11 "We are witnessing the fall of another empire right now. In 200 years the world will be reading about 'The rise and fall of America'."
We are past the times where empires simply 'fall'. The world holds up one another now for the most part, because if one of the big ones fall, the chances are that the rest of the big ones will too. America will not be falling - get over it.
