Didn't Public Enemy have a song at one time called "Payola"? When I tried to look that song up, this is the only song that I can find. Did they change the name?
I think "Crayola" was to attack Dick Clark (American Bandstand, the $20,000 Pyramid, etc.) with the line ' Got These New Souls Controlled Goin Outta Their Mind, Missed What I Said Cause They Don't Even Own Their Damn Hits!' meaning that Clark sold all the rights to the songs he owned before to escape payola charges against him whereas Alan Freed didn't.
I like Professor Griff...dude drops knowledge.
