I have loved and lost people . I believe that our afterlife offers abundant happiness sometimes to love is to let go. My mom was put to rest in July after a life of trial and suffering. Bless your souls. Peace. I'm happy for those who don't have to struggle in this life .
What a great moral example for all the people out there who feel terribly sad because they ain't the new iPhone, the new Mac Book Pro, or the new iPad! Grow up people! Life and living are far more different than just owning and collecting things!
I think about how thankful some of these people are for the iron lung and how they have enough courage to keep on... Martha Mason is very inspirational too check her out. Many of us are much more fortunate with our health and do not truly appreciate how lucky we are.

@drdst17 I'm not certain it requires strength, only surrender. We only suffer when we are in conflict with what is so. That is why some people are at peace on their deathbeds and others are not: the grace of surrender to what is so, to life as it presents itself.
@sbeer6er The windows on the side allow caretakers to reach in. I read in the newspaper when she died that she could spend 2 hours a day out of the machine, so that was probably when she bathed.
To tell you the truth, if someone said I had to spend the rest of my life in an iron lung, I would have just wanted to go ahead and die. I wouldn't want to live like that. That woman is truly an inspiration and after hearing her story, everyone should be more appreciative and thankful for their health
We would like to use this video for our Health Careers on Oct 22nd at UNC Hospital. Any way we can save this to our PC? or do you have on a DVD that we can purchase? Thanks Donna @ ddavis2@unch.unc.
I can't wait to buy this DVD and show it my Rotary Club. Many of the young members know little or nothing about this terrible disease. What a great film!!!
We all have to stop and pause for awhile, when we think we have it rough in life, and realize everything is relative. I wish I had met you , Marth, and your life of humbleness truly inspires me!
Just an amazing story and what an inspiration. You can just sense the strength and joy that lady carried, she eminates character and peace. Of all the times I've travelled through Lattimore, I wish I had known about her....I would love to have stopped by and got to know this amazing lady. God bless her friends and family.

May God rest this woman's soul. To spend an entire lifetime encased in a machine. Few today would have the strength to do this.

Sixty-one years in an iron lung... and a smile. Gives one pause for thought. Rest in peace. Dance on the clouds.
