A question for atheists: It just dawned on me: the brain functions a lot like a computer. It can store, retrieve and process information. However, 100% of the interpretation of all the data ultimately occurs at the computer monitor by an entity completely outside of the computer (a human being). All files communicated/transmitted by the computer are meaningless without interpretation as an end result. So this begs the question, where and how does the brain interpret all of the data it transmits?
We're not computers or robots. Our brains do this interpretation. Simple. Animals, bacteria, every living life form is able to interpret "data" or the things around them.

Take a container,inside it you have space or air but outside it there is space and air.How can you have a beginning or an end to it.Same thing with time.How can you ever begin or end it? When we seriously have answer for.... the begining of the universe, different dimensions, the function of a black hole, how to travel FTL(faster than light), how to build a celestial space ship and how to cure our human failures in health THEN religion will fall. Religion only stretches to the extent of our sky. nothing farther. science is our tool as humans to help us be smarter. Christianity - Jesus will return and the anti christ will do battle. and somewhere in the bible all of his followers

i'm on your side buddy. the thing is however that if religious claims are true, then they're true. logically speaking, you're not presenting an argument, but an alternative explanation. People usually keep believing for some reasons, be it personal experience, or the fact that they haven't even thought about other explanations (for example coincidences).

the only reason religions exist, is that people are ignorant and afraid.
ignorant: for example, they dont know how the universe started, so a magical bearded guy must have made it.
afraid: afraid of death->theres a happy afterlife, so they dont have to think about the fact, that life will be over sometimes

It is obvious that we are not intelligent enough to comprehend this because we cannot understand how everything came into being. we cannot comprehend that this all was just there. lets say the big bang is true... how did all this matter come about...

the fact that you are able to argue proves creation. you are using laws of logic. a CHRISTIAN concept. they are universal and immaterial. which don't make sense in an evolutionary universe. they would just be made up. Therefore they shouldn't even apply to an arguement. They would be nonsense. and if they're nonsense, then they aren't "logical". whereas, if creation is true, they are Gods standard for thinking

A consistent way of making sure that you are interpreting the universe correctly (read: logic) would in fact exist in an evolutionary universe. 3. Your conclusion is invalid because your initial argument is wholly incorrect (and because appealing to the existence of magic to explain logic is a horrible way to argue any point since you can't explain your magical deity).

Did anyone consider that this kind of argument could be easily countered by any Jungian psychologist? Sure religion is memetic, but memes are archetypal. And if one buys into the rest of Jung's metaphysics then this doesn't contradict religion at all. A Jungian would simply point out how the memetic evolution seems to occur disparately across geographically barriers all in the same direction (sometimes eerily so).

here we are cloning and crating life only a century and a half after the 1st true major inventions in earth's history (electricity, sewage systems). But we are playing the "God-Role" as a race as we speak.. if we could transport the brain activities and memories to the next body we would be successful Gods in that manner. actually religion is based on actual facts, they are just overexaggerated, misunderstood, or misinterpreted.. every prophet has had links to entities of a higher power and were given messages to return to the people.. Jesus, buddha, moses etc were all in touch with a side long forgotten by human due to science, matter and the physical plane we have forced ourselves into with oblivion. we are all gods believe it or not.. creation is of intelligence obviously unknown to us.. watch the skies!!!

Now, your argument appears to mean that things we cannot explain must be attributed to deities. Is this your meaning?
If so, this an argument known as "God of the Gaps" - i.e. anything we can't tell how it happened, then "God did it".
As for how the mind works, scientists are trying hard to understand this and making progress for it.
As for the supernatural, is there a body of evidence beyond a reasonable doubt for it?

B. You're wrong in your explanation of why people invest irrational belief. Look up the work of Carl Jung and Lloyd Demaus

I learned the religion as a baby and decided to pursue a better understanding of it when I grew up and started to have doubts. Being a youtube browser, I've run into quite a lot of atheists, and this guy is not anything special.
I know he was trying but this just wasn't what the title made it out to be.

I have a feeling that he means communistic anarchist. Essentially saying that there should be no government, and if there were no government everything could actually belong to everyone. It's essentially pure Manifesto communism. It's what Marx wrote, and what Lenin started out to make Russia into. However, when someone has enough power to dismantle the government, they don't like to give it up. Good on paper, but bad in practice.

Religion was first developed as a way to govern people cheaply. Make people believe that there will be consequences for their actions. But for me, I have faith that God does exist, we can try to best explain it, people will point out anything we miss, but have faith. Whatever brings you peace is what you should do.
