  • not bad duders

  • Could use some work here and there, but otherwise GREAT job.

  • I'm not trying to be racist but I saw a black guy in the thumbnail, and I was like SHIT THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME! And it was.

  • the passion runds deep with u, u blessed the music..

    gratitude, continued blessings..

  • I'm trying to learn this now. The tab isn't even half of what it takes to make it work.

  • nice work. keep the funk alive!

  • Come on guys . Only 74 likes ? 85 total ?

This video deserves way more views and rates . Seriously, good job . Not many people can pull of what you did . Amazing .

  • I heard this song and its so dark and evil!!!!

  • Nice work man. You got the most important part of it down packed: the feel. Anyone can learn a song note for note but not everyone can feel a song.

  • Man, u look like the guitarist for Buddy Guy...

    nice job!

  • great man! really goood cover

  • hey how you get that sound .... when it sound dirty , wachu doing?

  • its cool, but there was a couple of fails but they wasnt bad

  • Eddie Hazel is incredibly underrated. You slay. Keep it up.

  • buy urself a loop station, thats what I do for the backing beat with this tune,

  • @Goldin69 use the comp.

  • cool man thats a great cover im trying to work on it myself might i ask what Wah your using

  • awesome...............i working my way there people really dont understand music isnt made by a technician but by heart and sole and putting alittle of your self in the piece you play and you are showing them that

  • godddamn you can't play that song with just skills man you gotta play it with some heart and you nailed it.

  • thank you so much for that:)

  • very nice man. im getting that same guitar:O but the fretboards maple 5 STARs

  • ah man... u r lucky! thats the one i wanted but wit the 3 single coal pickups and the 70s style big headstock... this guitar is great tho.

  • Hey Where did you get this guiter from and what kind is it? I am looking for a nice electric guiter, not too expensive min price 350-450 any suggestions? Please and thank you.

  • great video man just great

    check out my cover

  • lotta people dont know about nothin about this shit

  • @rowin09 so true......

  • boi do i miss playing:(

  • Nice work! I hear lots of Jimi Hendrix influence here, which is a good thing no doubt. I couldn't think of anyone that could be a better influence. Even today, people are still trying to emulate his sound etc.

Anyway, keep it loud and proud! Best wishes,

    Kel

  • Nice play, but you need the backing melody for this to really work!

  • Man you sound like Glen Goings Jr..

    You're on this 100%!

Your #1 with a bullet, on my chart. You're a total smash Bobba! :-)

  • great video but bend a lil higher at the beginning near 1:07 to 1:16 but other than tht you did a DAMN good job

  • LOL this is awsome luvv it when black people play Guitar and play it good like you GJ bro

  • ive watched tons of covers and nobody can get that first bend just right.

  • Sorry folks! Von der ersten Note an: die Tonart ist falsch, und die Gitarren sind nicht gestimmt.

  • cool brotha!! i can dig!!

  • you need to have music behind you. if you did it would be awesome.

  • Why call it weak ?? The playing is good so why dont you shut up and do something usefull instead of breaking down someones vid's

  • Wait why would you call my video weak then save it in your favorites? lol

  • @funone2no its not weak, tell that to beginners....this guy has skill,...PLAY ON BROTHER.....

  • @funone2no hater

  • Keep the funk alive! That is a truly underrated solo that often doesn't get the respect it deserves. Good job man, I'm sure their are things your nitpicking on playback but the soul is more important. But never use soul as an excuse not to improve technique, a lot of friends have fallen into that trap. Great job man.

  • very very nicely played , LOVED IT

  • Damn man i was just surfing and came across you, from one brother to another that shit is tight.

I often hear people (Me too) complainng about this weak ass rap, but you give young brothers another image. keep that up Homie!

  • thank u. i appreciate that. ima keep doin wu i do:)

  • Beautiful tone! Keep posting, this rocks!

  • indeed i will my friend. thank u so much

  • Excellent work man, you have some chops. Tone-wise, that stuff's straight from the Maggot Brain album. If you haven't already, you should start a band.

  • i play in a band rite now but no music like this. i hope to start a funk/psycadelic rock/soul/blues band one day tho.

  • Dude move to L.A., I'm trying to start one too lol. It's pretty hard these days to find people who are into the heavy stuff like Funkadelic and the smoother stuff like Earth Wind & Fire.

  • Don't see many black people playing guitar nowadays... everybody is just rap. Good work. Keep it up

  • indeed i will:) thank u

  • This is awesome dude

  • glad u dig it my friend:)

  • You've got soul!

  • thank u so much:)

  • the next eddie hazel

  • lol i doubt that but thank u:)

  • you.

    are.

    amazing.

Youre a credit to musicians everywhere.

You should try and take youre music further if you havent already.

  • indeed i plan too. i appreciate your comment my friend

  • How do you produce that "feedback" effect at the 2:38minute mark. I am new to guitar so this is probably a stupid question, but Is it a pedal effect or is it feedback from the speaker? Great job. I have been playing to the backing track, and am building up some courage to post a video...lol maybe..... Great cover. peace

  • well its all about having the rite amount of distortion and a sometimes a certain kind of distortion to produce the feed back. that takes tweakin between ur amp and distortion pedals, sometimes even your guitar, atleast for me it does. after u get that part handled then u pretty much sustain or hold the notes u want to gain the feedback off of. sometimes a good vibrato helps. check out my machine gun vids(the end of part one and the entire part 2) better examples of feed back thru out those vids

  • oh also a wah wah pedal and a distortion together works well when u set the wah wah pedal from mid position to down position. if that makes any sense. Any questions, let me know. i'll help as much as i can

  • VERY NICE!

  • thank you kindly:)

  • you're doing great!

I'll be trying to learn it too

  • thank u:) not a hard song to learn. keep me posted on your progress:)

  • DAMN! KEEP IT UP...DON'T STOP!

  • thank u a bunch:) i wont stop

  • This has to be my favorite song of all time, and you do such a great job with it!! Superb!

  • thank you so so much:) i'm glad u dug it

  • Hi mate.

Watching you tube all night for inspiration and have found it.

    Great job.

  • thank you so much my friend. glad i could help:)

  • Real good stuff wish I could play like that. Keep at it

  • thank u so much. i appreciate that:)

  • No prob. How long you been using the wah wah pedal? Is it hard to figure out?

  • not too hard to get. jut dont over do it and make it smooth n sexy. lol

  • i just watched your vid man:) outstanding job:) i wouldnt even dared to try maggot brain at 3 months but u did it very very well:) i dont even think i was using a wah wah pedal at 3 months. i'll say i probably bought my first at like 6 months i believe

  • Man you got talent! That was outstanding, God bless you!=)

  • God Bless you too my friend and thank u so much:)

  • intro was wrong but besides that great job

  • wrong chords?

    thank you:)

  • Just the first chord, it should be minor, but honestly, the way you play it adds flavour so dont stop.

Plus, I've just uploaded the backing track for maggot brain if you want to make your jam comlete! :)

  • Great job, you've got some skills friend. Nice strat also, and can i ask what pedal you are using?

  • i'm using a fuzzface, crybaby original wah, and dunlop univibe in the intro... and i have a lil reverb set on my amp

  • u can sho nuff play

unfortuanately u didnt follow the song

dood iwsh i can come jam with u honestly

  • what do u mean by i didnt follow the song?

  • he IS playing with no back up music, thats tough shit to keep the feel of it going by your lonesome, big props man it sounds awesome

  • thank u so much:)

  • B+ You did a great job,I guess eeveryone tells you that. You could have gotten an A, but your room wasn't clean. I want to learn the guitar,Thanks for the lesson.

  • haha well anything higher then a 'd' is passing for me so i'm thankful for that B+:) good luck on learning and if u have questoins about playing let me know and i'll do my best to answer:)

  • Sick cover man. Good job.

  • thank u so much:)

  • rock on!

  • i will. thank u my friend:)

  • u sir r the only one that can play maggot brain as good as EH and the funkmaster....all u need is the right set up!!!!!!!! keep rockin'

  • thank u so much. no way i can even touch eddie on this song... or any at that. i appreciate that tho

  • This is really good, love those bends! I did one of these too, mine's a lot different though.

  • thank u so much:) i wached your vid and i loved the way u played and changed it up. very unique:)

  • Funk on!

    *P-Funk sign*

  • thank u my friend:) i'll give u any feedback on what i know. i'll message u

  • I love this song, it is one of my all-time favourites. Listening Funkadelic has inspired me to play guitar, I have listened to them for years but only recently took the initiative to start teaching myself.

The guitar has already shown me so much, and given me a new level of appreciate for the music I've always loved. It is such an expressive instrument.

If anybody out there has any pointers on technique, best effects units to go for, learning resources, etc. I would greatly appreciate ur time.

  • some tempo issues, but aside from that, great job on a great song

  • yeah its hard to play without a backing track but i plan on making my own backing track and doing another vid

  • GREAT! never heard that song played so well on youtube *****

  • glad u dug this... i didnt think it was that good tho lol:) thank u

  • great, nice feeling in there man

  • thank u so much:)

  • Man great version, glad to see someone focusing on good music instead of cRAP...

Sounds a lot like the live versions :) Very good, especially with the minor details. Did you get a tab for this or do it by ear? I can only find tabs for the first 3 or so minutes of the solo.

Does anyone know where one can find the backing track? :P

    Again fine job.

  • thank u:) i learned this by ear... i'm supriseed that there are tabs for this song... i might do this agin sometime soon with my own backing track. when i make one i can send it to u thru email if u'd like:)

  • does any1 kno wat effects hazel used, and here to find a good tab for this?

  • man you have some of the nicest tone i've heard. keep it up!

  • thank u so much:) i was kinda sceptical bout my sound cuz i had set up different then i normally do.

  • Man that was some great playing

I haven't heard that song in many years

sounds exactly like it too great job

  • thank you so much... this song is like one of the first songs i tried jamming to on the guitar... love this song... eddie was the man:)

  • awesome

  • It's beautiful, good job..

  • thank u so much? glad u dig this:) thank u for your time

  • YEAH! Good job dude! I do kinda miss the backing guitar, but other than that you played that really well, very soul-full, and really reminded me of the grand original. Eddie was indeed a very under-rated guitarist, he was one of the best out there. Keep on playing dude!

  • yes he was:) thank u so much... one day i'll do it with a backing track:)

  • you invited me az a friend (no idea how u got my name lol) so i thought i gotta check out some of ur videos. This one iz good bro...ok theres bits that are 'wrong' (by which i mean different from the original...i would never call a guitar solo WRONG..just improvised)..but still man the bit at the start was phrased well. I get goosebumps whenever i hear eddie hazel play maggot brain. Letz just say the start of ur jam reminded me enough of eddie's version to give me a few goosebumps! Keep it up

  • thank u:) i appreciate the time u have given me and ur kind words

  • awesome cover man, eddie is a ridiculously underrated guitarist man your right. You did his finest work justice, great job

  • thank u so much:)

  • dude u gotta get a recording pedal or record ur own back tracks, then it would be so awsome, but dude ur still sooo good, powerfull song

  • thank u so much... i will probably will do this wit a backing track soon. this vid was unplanned... i had just been messing around testing and tweaking myamp and pedals and randomly maggot brain had just came to mind and i went on from there lol:)

  • keep practicing, relax too ur stiff as a board

  • ok i will

  • pero k demonios..... este cover esta bien culero no mames.... k culera la tok... no mames y dicen k esta chida.. por favor, k estan mal de la cabeza?? k asco de cover..

  • good going, bro!

    One love!

    White Wolf

  • thank u white wolf:)

  • Great tone, great cover. I love the guitar, I have the same EXACT colored strat. Its my main axe.

  • yeah its a great guitar:) thank u for ur time

  • My friend, i watched your video again, i jus wanted to ask what guitar/amp do you use? nice tone. Also can u gimme an idea on the settings? im lost tryna get the right sound off mine

  • yo man, nice. Brave to cover this song, and u did it well

  • thank u very much. yeah i was scared to put it up... just like i am with all my vids

  • awesome stuff sir. this is inspiring

  • thank u:) glad u like it

  • good to see a brother jammin out on Maggot Brain, keep it up, we have to bring live instruments back to music

  • 110% agree!:) Thank u so much

  • Young blood, where you trying to conjure up Eddie Hazel's spirit because you are on point.

  • thank u so much bro:)

  • Right On!

  • This is cool man but come on people if this man wanted to make a good attempt of this song he would need just as many people as funkadelic. have you seen some of their concerts theres like an army of them on the stage so lets get this guy some band mates and this shit would be classic.

  • You definetely got some skills. Why not try to cover Maggot Brain? I can't play a lick, but I love some good guitar and this is some flat out great guitar.

You are awesome bro, keep playin. Keep uploading to youtube.

  • thank u so much:) thats very encouraging

  • meh. you are a good guitar player but i dont think anyone should even try to cover maggot brain, that shit is legendary.

  • fantasic mate! you nailed to tone! no one knows who funckadelic are in australia...edddie hazel is king!

  • thank you:)

  • man u touch my soul im just getting started

  • thank u:) im glad u like this

  • play cosmic slopp

  • haha... i wanna do that one wit a band:)

  • awesome job man i love this song evrytime i hear it i just get the best feeling

  • thanks:)... i know what u mean

  • Great job but you'd be alot better off with a looping pedal to get the chord progression in the background.

  • yeah i actually wanted to do a back track for this one but this vid was not really planned fort youtube

  • u have good dexterety (hand coordination) and good sense of timing... just keep practising.. i.e., playing your heart out.... and that redhouse cover will come through... i would say "red house" is one of the hardest songs to cover... i mean if it is to be properly.. but its possible.

  • thats all true. thanks bro:)

  • fucking amazing man..mike from sweden

  • Thank u mike:)

  • Hey organizedblues,

Nice vid, just like the others ;)

I have recommended you on the most famous guitarforum in Holland, hope it will give you some more views and stuff.

  • thank ya:) i will

  • Great!!!

Hazel & Hampton is two amazing guitarist!

  • yes they are. two of the best:) thank u:)

  • well... they are! lol

  • Great playing. It's cool to see another brother (like me) that's into guitar-playing and rock music. I'm a big fan of Hazel and Hendrix too. I love playing Hendrix songs mostly. Or at least I try, lol.

We got the same taste in music, and upbringing, it seems. Too bad we live far apart, it would've been cool to jam sometime.

    Keep it up.

  • maybe in the future bro:) thank you

  • Awesome tone and feeling on this video!

It's OK to step out of Jimi for a while. I have a few Jeff Beck and Zappa tunes that I plan to cover some day.

Tell me about your Stratocaster! It looks just like mine ('96 USA Strat).

  • thanks bro... your videos are really good man... u got hendrix stuff down packeed man... id like to here u cover beck and zappa

thats a nice start to man mine is just an artic whte standard hss fender strat... couldnt afford anything better so i figure when i start gettin some real money i can start upgrading and getting more guitars... and a bigger marshall amp, half stack hopefully or a fender tube amp maybe, but i really want the half stack..lol

  • oops i meant thats a nice strat..lol

  • Can you do "Black Napkins" by Zappa?

That one is virtually impossible to play...
