  • andy fairweather low's voice is awesome

  • i remember now andy fairweather low never sang with his mouth open he looked like a ventriloquists dummy

  • but its still a great song

  • such bizar

  • Yes that is simon dee at the end, he passed away a few years ago.

  • Such a great voice but looks like Alan tracy off Thunderbirds

  • @ElyDeadpool2010 moves like him to

  • Beautiful looking Fender bass

  • oh no. the intro from the American Breed's version is so much better.

  • i thought andy l.ooked more like a vulcan fae star trek in this clip than elvis presley

  • yes simon dee,,,,,,, the dick head was kicked out of tv for trying to tell the bosses what to do,,,, now his a road sweping the roads

  • Fab!!!! :)

  • The sound of the 60's at it's bloody best.So understated.Andy takes minimalistic movement to the top.Absloutley amazing.

  • Is that Simon Dee near the end?

  • Brilliant quality clip, thanks for posting!

  • I guess the Elvis look was very popular in Wales at that time.

  • Great song but miming at its worst.

  • First ever 'gig' l went to...High Wycombe Town hall about 68...Amen Corner. Brilliant! this brings back memories!

  • I saw Andy Fairweather Low and his band the Low Riders as the support act for Eric Clapton in Belfast this week. He was excellent. Maybe the voice has dropped a few notches but he was very entertaining.

  • loved it,one of my fav.records

  • God ..... that rendition sucks .... to the highest degree!

  • @frizzlefrap So you're a Septic retard then.

  • Brilliant, love Andy Fairweatherlow's voice fabulous !!!!

  • seen a clip of this on never mind the buzzcocks, on the 'guess who' round, and the bassist/ lead singer was one of them, and it shown a clip from this performance, and i just can not stop listening to it. and im only 16 haha. just goes to show how much modern music is complete crap to this beat of a song!

  • @PriceyBludd haha that lead me here too

  • This is the trippiest video I've ever saw......

  • despite the plethora of ugly sixties women with vacant stares they had crowding in on Dave Cash at the start, nevertheless just enjoy this Welsh showband, they're pillocks really, I've lost the will to live I really have boyo

  • Its good to be amongst Andy friends I loved Amen corner when I was a little younger.

Andy has been with EC for ages since unplugged anyway. Enjoy your music

  • French version by Claude François.

  • talk about "thank God i'm English" when I watch this, you can keep your foreign european pap to yourselves mate!

  • who is the presenter of this clip?

  • @englishtwister dave cash

  • @englishtwister

    Dave Cash.

  • How I loved Andy Fairweather-Low

  • Andy Fairweather-Low was a guitarist who went for an audition with Amen Corner but they already had a guitarist so he had to be the singer. He's back playing blues guitar now.

  • Love it. Andy really came across as camp.

  • I have an old Amen Corner LP at home, God I was only 13 when this was playing. Andy Fairweather Lowe looks like a little chipmunk with my older eyes LOL

  • "Everyone around is looking for a King Cone..."

  • I'm sorry these vocals are terrible. Also, whats the siger doing not being up front.

  • @alexdroogie100

    cos it was 1968

all of us knew jack **** in those days

    :)

  • @alexdroogie100 Terrible? I'm not so sure...perhaps an aqcuired taste but my band once tried covering it and it's a fucker to try and sing...especially the long bit just before the chorus. Ranks up there with Thunderclap Newman of songs to never attempt at singing...!

  • This song is so Cool

  • It was his thing, I was watching the hello susie song and my friend made a rude gay comment -despite how much i tell him I hate it when he does that and he needs to curb it not just only for or around me- I never heard this cover the American breed song. Nice to hear he still sings somewhere and didn't decide to just pack it in and retire his pipes.

  • I was so in love with Andy when i was 13. I was certain I was destined to marry him! Haha!

  • ie Andys Yokahama 1999 version of Gin House Blues...that is..

  • When ya can sing like Andy did and still does....it dont matter HOW you move etc..

See his take on Gin House Blues :)

  • Reminscing the good old days dancing round my yellow plastic hanbag to this tune.....jeeeez, im ancient :-o

  • Awful whiny nasal voice but somehow it works!

  • Simon Dee at the end of the clip, fantastic days. I wish I hadn't been a baby at the time.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhh...walking home from school days.....Great...goose pimples...!

  • Does Andy Fairweather Low do the same lame limp wristed half lip synch on every clip of Amen Corner doing this #?! Check the "

    Beat Club" clip!

  • @Wilthomer66 Yes, always. I remember thinking at the time that he always looked like he didn't want to be there.

  • I went out with him when I was 18!

  • lol the singer is funny, childish smile and mr.bean type body movements, cool song though

  • @Artemis458

The singer in the Amen Corner video is Andy Fairweather Low. He's been Eric Clapton's rhythm guitarist and backing vocals for many years. He's that good.

  • Had my feet taping without me knowing, must be a great song!!

  • That's the longest men were allowed to grow their hair in those days! How tragic.

  • Can anyone tell me who the DJ is at the beginning of the clip?

  • OK pop pickers I've done my research and thought you might like to know the DJ is Dave Cash and as Glamking 1 says below the footage is from 15/2/68 when he co-hosted with Jimmy Saville. Apparently this is the only surviving footage of Dave hosting a TOTP

  • That clip at the end was from The Simon Dee Show, NOT TOTP.

  • great tune, cool! i'd love to see paul whitehouse (fast show) doing a 'spoof' of this!!

  • Was this guy the inspiration for Austin Powers? Great song, I missed the 60's by a few years.....pity!

  • The lead singer sounds quite like the lead singer from The Zutons, wonder if they are related?

  • IIRC February 15th 1968 not 6th June 1968. Amen Corner did not perform this on 6th June 1968 as timecoded and this was only from the 15/2/68 edition which was reshown on BBC Four as part of their Pop on Trial season.

I am sad to say that EinsFestival have not shown any existing 60s editions because the first two from June 1968 and February 1969 are mute.

  • You seem to know your stuff, so I'm gonna ask you a question: Who's song was this first a hit for - Amen Corner or American Breed? (Or, who stole who's song?)

  • American Breed sung it originally in 1966 and it was two years before Amen Corner covered it a hit over here in 1968.

  • andy fairweather lowe is part of the sixties no they never had to have plastic surgery and andy never sang with his mouth wide open that was the way it was i know i was there last saw andy at the royal tottenham in the late sixties a great performer try looking at him now youll all see time takes its toll

  • Still the best version. But they could have tried to mime better.

  • that was odd. did they all have facial plastic surgery?

  • They do have a "Battle Of Britain" era plastic surgery look about them don't they? Creepy. Is Andy Fairweather Low so lifeless in every You Tube A.M. clip?

  • @Wilthomer66 (and trainluvr): not a one of them was aged over 21 at the time, so the "unnatural" youthful look was actually for real!

  • I prefer the English version...class

  • Scooby dooby doo where are you?

  • Wonderful performance,

    such élan and joie-de-vivre!

  • Interesting to see this, but I prefer the American Breed version.
