don't get me wrong, I really like Moog products.. but this pedal isn't very musical.. I mean it's cool to create weird sounds (for sci-fi movies maybe)... if I had one I would probably use it on a couple of songs and then I wouldn't know what to do with it.
I think it might be you having a bad sense of humor: it's so easy to put everything down. Have you tried this beast pedal yourself (FreqBox)? I own one, it's not easy to control, and the guys on the video are not doing so bad. Well, it's easy to make it sound like crap...
Funny, you can pretty much get that exact sound using "conventional" gear (distortion and a wah.) Personally, I like the crazier stuff that pedal does.
i just got one of these 3 days ago. i am wondering if it can be hooked to my drum machine with my guitar still as the main audio source, but the frequency being modulated by my drum machine so that my guitar signal would be rhythmically synced. would i want to patch the drum machine signal to the envelope in, osc in, or simply the freq jack?
if you want the frequency being modulated by the drummachine, then you need to plug it into the frequency-amount-control.
but you need a cv-out on your drummachine.
if you dont, you need another freqbox 9or other fooger) and connect the osc-out (or envelope-out) of the one to the freq-amount of the other. and then
If you're telling me that you would instinctively know exactly how much to push the FM amount dial with the waveform set to square, the envelope set at half, the frequency set to 2, with SYNC turned off -- then please tell me where to send the Bob Moog MENSA medal of honor. If shaping the sound of effects like this (or the glorious MURF) were obvious, they wouldn't be any fun.
it's kind of fun to see you guys explore it and being surprised and defloured and stuff, but i think it would be more interesting if we allso saw you use it after, let's say, a week of goofing.
Hell no! What fun would that be? Truth be told, with so many of the parameters dependent on one another, you never really know how the thing is going to sound with each tweak of a knob. That's one of the best things about Moog effects and modular synth gear in general--exploring what's possible, without expectations. Sorry we only showed the tip of the iceberg for this thing. With all the patching possibilities on this pedal, you could spend hours with it and still not exhaust its potential.
- the fun would be to control the device ... to be professional and productive . ... and not to be controlled by the device ... mostly making unstructured noise ...
"...you never really know how the thing is going to sound with each tweak of a knob."
- what? - how can you know? - doesn't this depend on experience, too?!
WUHUUUUUUUUUU
Fuck, you frag my brain with that crazy sound

I've watched this video so many times and just now noticed the name. Is this the same Chachi Jones that remixed Tycho's Send and Receive?

I wonder is muse could exploit a pedal like this in their songs?
djbro16 2 years ago
No. Muse would not know what it is. They would just write another great song and then realize the fooger was in bypass mode.
pacosaidso 2 years ago
Or he could use his crazy-ass Kaoss Pad-oriented Manson guitar. It would do more than the same thing.

Maybe I should try one of these with my MT-68 one of these days.

i guess if you had turned down the drive level and turned up the output level instead the freqbox-input would not be distorted that much !?

That was sweet. I have an MF 105 and i want one of those.

freq jack. through a mixer or attenuator so you could control how much of the audio signal from the drum machine goes to the freq input.

plus, please guys, next time try it out before the shoot.
the "no-clue" knobturning comes across quite unprofessional.
