  • Ah yes, interesting video, watching it 7 mo. after it was recorded. How wrong Schakowsky & the reporter were in their predictions. As it turned out, it was the public that rejected not only Public Option, but Obamacare in general. And even with a Dem-controlled Congress & White House. And it's Dems who are worried about upcoming elections, not Reps.

Keep up the good work, "this is not a principled fight" & "we want to run private insurance out of business" Schakowsky.

  • Health care should NOT be provided by the for profit insurance companies.

Get rid of the greedy insurance companies with their extravagant CEO salaries and preexisting condition. Every American deserves the peace of mind of health care.

Support the public option NOW !!!!!!!!

  • don't vote for her cuz she is one of the chicago gangs machine. as been knowen. she used support rad makovich the illinoise cover and she still supporting corruption in chicago

  • Vote them all out but buy more ammo and cling to your guns, bibles and Constitution just in case. Who are these handful of rogue politicians. What makes them think they are going to steal our liberty ..bribing each other

with our nations treasure to force oppressive laws for 300 million so they can stay in power. They are supposed to govern not rule. This is no longer a democratic republic when "public servants" think they hold the power

The constitution protects the individual F*ck Marxists

  • It's all about power and control of our physical being. They will control whether we are worth the cost of living when we incur a serious illness.

  • Republicans are losing their Credibility as they take on 46 Million Americans without Health Insurance, yet most work and cannot get the same price as a corporation ,,, yeah go figure...

more ripping off from corporations and kicking back those who allowed or made provisions to allow it at tax payers expense, while they only pay 5% of the taxes.

Go to FactCheckorg and find out where the facts lie, and what party is on the take spewing fear propaganda.

    Go Gop Flip Flop Party.

  • who stands the most to lose?

    the insurance companies...

    the pharmacy drug makers...

the right winged party who is funded by both

    or all the above.

and then if the single payer cant get insurance is that fair the unregulated price gouging insurance companies rip off the tax payers, while profiting at the working class tax payers expense,

while the right winged on the take nut jobs in cahoots with corporations pay only 5% of taxes and want to spend the profits and ensure we all suffer?

  • lets see here right winged nut jobs.

one hammer cost the tax payers about 5000.00

    for the military.

and one teeth cleaning cost the tax payers about 400.00

and they only use tooth polish to polish the teeth, they dont scrape and clean, yet charge the insurance companies the highest rate possibly on the charge sheet.

Nothing for the single payer, because the Insurance and Drug makers are able to charge what ever they want , and the majority of the tax payers have to pay what ever the corps want

  • Keep your current plan if you like it, right.

Listen, if your employer finds the the Government Plan is cheaper, which it will be because they have the ability to set payment rates for Drs., Hospitals and Drug Companies AND will receive tax subsidy so that premiums will not have to cover outlays, then employers will dump traditional PPO plans and offer what they want.

Employees don't have a say in what they are offered wrt benefits. Don't be fooled, this is covert single payer legislation.

  • Just bought a policy for my son from Kaiser. Cost $90. This about what a cell phone coverage or cable TV costs.

  • Franken is now the Senator in MN...the Dems have the votes they need and they NEED to deliverr...Change we can BELIEVE in.....not a give away to the health insurance giants that is a "Mitt Romney" bogus solution

  • This entire health care reform will tie in perfectly with the plan to microchip the population.

I'm pretty sure that the final outcome will be something like, if you want full medical coverage no matter what, then you'll have to submit to letting them implant a chip in your body. So that they can store all your "medical" information on it.

I can only strongly advise people to get out of the USA and move to Europe or Asia while you still can.

It won't be long now. Maybe a year. Maybe less...

  • Ok, forget this Health Care Plan I don't think that most Americans want the tax increases that this would require at a time where our government has made no plan to live within it's means (see our never ending war policy). How about we bring back the Freedom of Speech to health care, the FDA has cracked down on all alternative medicine treatments whenever they are shown to work better than Western Modern Medicine, our health care is a joke (and a monopoly) and no one is laughing.

  • The USA needs to swallow its pride and learn from its betters, countries like Norway, Sweden, and other socialist countries where the standard of living for most citizens - not the top 5% - is the highest in the world. We are NOT #1. Get it through your thick heads, morons.

  • Did I hear her correctly?

She said, "Poll shows that the majority of people are against single payer coverage." and that "They want to keep what they have now.", that's why it's off the table?

Where did she get this "Poll" from?

  • it's a shame that a country that is supposed to be the worlds greatest democracy would leave vulnerable people in the hands of big insurance to cover health care. these are the same people that destroyed the world economy, so are they well placed to take care of the needy of your great contry. the NHS in britian isn't foolproof but at least any person is able to get medical care, whenever they need it.

  • Health Care Industry:

    "its unfair, We ADMIT that

We are so insufficient, and costly that we can't compete with a public system on a level playing field"

  • I do agree with most of what you have to say, please keep in mind that there are people out there like my disabled mother who is too young to qualify for Medicare.

She can barely stand up for more than 20 minutes, much less work. She has consistently been denied coverage for having a 'Pre-Existing' conditon. She has

been through much of her savings just to be able to visit the doctor and purchase medication.

  • I will admit that is a case where my heart goes out to you and your mother.

Reminder to everyone that true sacrafice is no phone,no cell phone,no fun gagets, no cute knick knacks, no movies, you dont get to do other things unfortunately.Mayb you will get lucky and catch a break and get to do something fun once in awhile. But before you ask for things like help paying for your fifth kid,or money for your health insurance.Fight against the crooked system not for MORE of my hard earned money.WORK

  • Everyone has the right to health care. I agree with either a single or multi-payer system. For those that have health care through their job the company pays the bill. For those that are not covered the government pays for their health insurance put gives them choice over doctors, treatment, etc. We will either have to reduce costs or increase taxes to pay for the system. When companies drop their health car plans, then we have a one-payer system :)/

  • Can you please insurance companies and have a public plan at the same time?

    A. YES, that's called Medicare, AND the insurance companies were able to lobby congress to pass law PREVENTING (outlawing) the government to collectively negotiate for better drug deals.

  • I really appreciate this video. It makes me feel better about health reform. The news has been grim lately, and I was wondering if anything was really going to happen with the public option. This has given me a lot of hope. Thank you.

  • Trust me, with a compromise like this, the public option will be anything but "robust". Remember that America is global capitalism's heartland and that what generally passes for "fairness" in such a country is often considerably unfair.

  • Why should it be acceptable to Insurance companies? They do not speak for CONSUMERS.

  • oh, usually "these people" refers to multiple people, silly me

  • Lots of ifs Jan, if the ifs go bad for the public option, the insurance companies are still in control of the market. And as with any good idea they will be working hard to jinx the public plan to keep it from expanding and improving. Great plan.....for the insurance companies. Another "pig in poke" program.

  • Where does Paul Jay get his funds? Big Business pays everyone's salaries including so called liberals on General Electric owned MSNBC. Paul Jay is making all about the President instead of about the ruthless insurance companies. It's all about "why isn't P Obama doing more?" Why didn't P Obama do this? Paul Jay should be spending his time slamming Republicans and insurance companies. They are the ones trying to stop ALL reform.

  • who

  • I already heard the list of drugs that won't be available to Medicare patience . If your over 65 they want you dead. You will be punished for living so long unless of course you have money. And nobody cares where you got that money either. If your wearing a suit you may steal.
