sir, do you happen to have Weird War Tales #1? I would buy it off you. i'm a huge fan of Death and, historically, Weird War Tales #1 is the first appearance of Death. Of course, I'm an even bigger fan of the female Death from Sandman. gee, i wonder why. :P
@TimTheReaper yeah I have one but i'm afraid it's staying here with me. they are on e-Bay and I was able to reel mine in for about $35 with postage using a Buy It Now. It took about two weeks of monitoring listings (use the option which lets you sort by newest listings first) for one to show up with a Buy It Now. The hard one to find was actually #2, not sure why. That took a couple months before I won one in an auction battle.
You know, you could try either two-sided tape and hope that it sticks to the back of the bag, or I'm pretty sure they make higher-end bags that have an adhesive on the bag. If someone already posted these ideas, just disregard, but good luck! I'm thinking of just switching over to the heavy mylar and just leaving it open. Let me know if you've found something that works. I've shredded a comic on the tape before so now I'm super careful.
Have you heard of ComicCollector? It's a bit of software that I use on my PC. You don't have to scan the comic as the software as all of the covers for you! You just type in the name of the comic and it brings up a list of titles, you just click on the title you want, and it saves the comic in a folder for you! I've done it with my collection and it tells you how many you have - nearly 4,000 in my case! Hope this helps!
if you use them, you can catalog your entire collection and they'll tell you how much you spent overall, how much they're worth overall, and how much profit you made. they also give you individual series breakdowns with the same information.
You don't have to remove the tape. If you're careful you can just roll the flap back and stick the tape to the cover of the bag. then carefully pull your comic out- which you'd want to do anyway. Keeping the tape on may help prevent dust getting into your bags and it will of course keep the comic from falling out should the box turn over. Though you should replace your tape every few years as it becomes too sticky and starts to pull on and damage the bag rather than simply coming off.
Hi Ratty! I've since come around to tape and getting new bags for everything helped. Nothing is nastier than somebody's old gunky bag like smoke residue & schyme all over it, with old gunky tape waiting to snag that cover. Replacing them all made me realize you have to fix that back flap down in order to store them carefully and the only way to do it with the bags I chose was tape. Live & learn!
@sqTake2 Indeed. You'll want to get acid free bags and boards and conventional wisdom says it's usually a good idea to replace them every 3 - 5 years or so. You can also get mylar bags for your more expensive comics/if you can afford it.
You have some nice books there. Tape is always tricky but if you use "scotch magic tape" it always seems to come off the easiest if you need it off. Most people develop their own system for that stuff. I know a guy that tucks, instead of tapes, doesn't seem like a good ideal to me but he's ok with it.
i was thinking about trying to clip off the corners of the flaps to tuck them but figured that would be one more element coming in contact with the comics. can't wait to get my drawer box, headed to the local shop tomorrow to see if they got one. i'm totally hooked!
