Don't get me wrong I really like Foals, but everyone thinks Foals are really different when they're not, they're just one of the only math rock bands that have vocals that have gotten particularly mainstream...

Bands like Maths Class and Tubelord are all quite similar to Foals musically.

You're right to some extent. Foals are probably the most mainstream math-influenced band. The edmund fitzgerald used to be more math and even Foals with andrew on vocals, was more math. But on the other hand, Foals' dance-orientated rhytms and odd harmonies have made me like them more than the average totally-underground math band. You can't really say that they are not distinguishable from the rest of the indie rock chart music, can you?

No offense but what do you expect. There playing a gig in New York. Believe it or not Foals arent as successful over there as they are here. It must have been a very small gig.

In New York, exactly. The crowd was better in Belfast lol, and there's probably more people living in Brooklyn than the whole of Northern Ireland so..

Anyway, it was a good performance, Foals are always so consistent, just not the best crowd.

as a guitarist (wow that sounded douchy), its much easier to play guitar like that. especially with what they are doing.

sure green day can stroke their penises, but thats only because they play 3 chords, not a billion notes on the 19 fret.

Yeah, it's a load easyier to play it that way. May look goofy at times, but some people can pull it off. In the end though, it's not how you look, it's about the music :)
