Add 50 inches to that, and what do you get? 10 feet 8 inches, which means michaels head would have to be close to the top of the square. Look at his feet is the dumbest way to measure. I was watching ESPN last night after Kobe became the highest scoring Laker,and Avery Johnson was actually trying to say with a straight face that if KOBE continues at this pace for a few more years he'll be considered better than MJ. We will probably never see moves like this again unfortunately. 2 other clips that aren't shown often is when he goes from almost the FTL with his cradle dunk like the one he did at UNC, and against the Knicks at MSG. I believe it was against the Bucks or MAVS. The other shot is the one against Vinny Johnson on the baseline where he just jumps straight up from behind the backboard and double pumps and hits a tough shot. MJ. GOAT. NUFF SAID!

Did you even watch the video? Mike has the highest ppg in league history post reg season and playoffs while shooting basically 50%, a mark Kobe cant even come close to. He put up unbelievable finals stats and never lost while Kobe puts up terrible numbers in the finals and is only 4/7.

it is true jordan has been the best so far, though magic comes close. but it is really stupid to say "The Greatest There Ever Will Be". he wasn't so spectacular that it is impossible for another like him to come along. "ever" is a long time. sure he often made amazing plays & that's all anyone will think about when watching a highlight video but he had his off-nights just like anyone. he was mortal. When Jordan was in his 7th year in the league (age 28) he won his first championship, Kobe got his first at age 22 during his fourth year in the league. At the same age that MJ was learning the game in college, Kobe was on his way to building an NBA dynasty.
Also as far as individual performances, despite his best attempts MJ could never have scored 81 or the 60 that Kobe dropped on the Knicks this year.

Let's talk about meaningful games. Jordan still holds the NBA record for most points in a playoff game with 63. He holds the record for the highest career scoring average in the playoffs. He holds the record for the highest career scoring average in the NBA Finals. He holds the record for most points in one half of an NBA Finals game. He once averaged 41 ppg for an entire Finals series.

As a western conference fan, you saw how hard it was to come out of the west then and now. Kobe has reached the finals in seven of the last ten years in the only real conference. Jordan's teams always met an exhausted Western conference foe in the finals. (see utah)
It's not that I don't respect MJ--just that I understand that he was helped by phantom calls (ie Lebron) and a soft conference sched.

The Knicks never won because they had no offense. John Starks? Charles Oakley? Doc Rivers? Greg Anthony? They couldn't score. But their field goal percentage defense was the best of the modern era.
Zeke's Pistons had scorers. So did Hakeem's Rockets. Kobe's Lakers are not great defensively, I don't know why you brought them up.
The point is: Jordan didn't have it easy in the East. He not only faced the Knicks, but the Pistons, a 57 win Cavs team, and later the Pacers.

Kobe is way better than MJ because he doesn't have to get out of control and hit circus shots. He's deadly from everywhere, not just inside eight feet. Sure later in his career MJ developed a reasonable jumper, but mostly it was attack the rim. Kobe is overall a more effective scorer and way better facilitator. Hmmm. Now that you've presumably watched this video, do yourself a favor and look up Game 1 of the 1992 Finals. Just watch the first half. Even the highlights will do. And remember that MJ was doing what you see him do against the runner up MVP that year, a Hall of Famer who was just as athletic as him. Then look up Game 5 of the same series.
After that, look up MJ in Game 4 in 93 against the Knicks. Then games 1 and 5 of the 97 Finals.
Then tell me his jumper was "reasonable."

Kobe is just now barely top 10. Tex Winter says Jordan shot the jumper as well as Kobe. Educate yourself. Kobe has to make more crazy jumpers than anyone because he has far more trouble getting open than Jordan. Kobe is simply a poor man's Jordan.

What in the fucking hell are YOU talking about? It's simple math dumbass. Michael stands 6' 6". Add 50 inches to that, and what do you get? 10 feet 8 inches, which means michaels head would have to be close to the top of the square. Look at his feet is the dumbest way to measure. Look at where his head is to the rim and add up the difference. If michael's head was level with the rim, he would be 42 inches off the ground. When was the last time you saw his chin over the rim? That's right, NEVER

Others talk about how much determination they have, Jordan produced.
Not to mention he ran the 40 yard dash in 4.2
and had a vertical of 48".. Finally MJ brought a magical aura with him to the game and was a very inspirational and motivational player. Definitely the best player & Role-model the NBA has ever produced.

I agree with you on everything other than running a 4.2 and having a 48" vertical jump. If he had a 48" vertical, he would be able to get his head 6 inches above the rim from a STAND STILL jump. His *REAL* vertical was measured at UNC to be 35 inches from a stand still, meaning he could probably jump from a running start to about 40 inches.

The greatest of all time, he could put the flash and moves on anyone, MJ was there to get the job done every night, he didnt accept failure. The results speak for themselves.

through acclamation,accumulation of stats, individual achievements, and being the undisputed leader of 6 championship teams all make michael jordan the greatest player ever. not to mention that he was the most dominant player in the nba for more than a decade! and he was a 2 guard. you must have just got into watching basketball huh? i feel sorry for people that enjoy the game but missed mj in his prime. he wasnt human on the court!

Combo of many things. Statwise, he is almost untouchable. In terms of accomplishments, he is also almost untouchable. His impact in the game is also undeniable. But it's his game that makes him special. He is probably the most gifted and talented offensive and defensive player ever. Pound for pound, his skills, talent, accomplishments, and impact on the game make him the greatest to have ever played the game.
