You can argue the pier is the symbol of colonization, but is it possible to wipe the whole history out? The whole world knows HK was a British colony. Our children are going to read about the colonial history anyway. If what you are saying is logical, why didn't the Germans destroy all the Jewish concenration camps in e.g. Auschwitz after WWII? These are not disgrace, they are live history lessons for our children and grandchildren.
