  • This is so over hyped.....it was a side-angle approach

  • Everyones missing the point of the play...before the game bosworth promised the media he was going to "contain" Jackson...however Jackson rushed for 221 yards and 3 TDs

  • He didnt even get run over he lucked out cus he got a bit lower and you cant make every single play like holy hea not the team

  • Bo got past him, didn't run over him. I'm an Auburn guy, loved Bo, but don't exaggerate the play.

  • @Deadeyerabbit

True, but Bo Jackson still got through him to the endzone

  • This moment defined Bosworth's career, not in a good way.

  • what a joke. ive heard of this play for yrs. i was expecting something awsome on Bo's part. Boz definitely didnt get run over. he made the tackle even when he was in a very bad tacking position. any where else than on the goal line, it woulda been a highlight on bozworths side. alot of hype over nothing.

  • @DeadEyeRabbit boz said he was going to destroy jackson before the game

  • @DeadEyeRabbit I just watched the play. I thought that I would see Jackson run Bosworth over like a run-away tank. It's obviously over-hyped.

  • watch the video close..good tackle, good run...Bo did a halfspin move to fall on his back forward..THAT is how he got in, because he didn't run like a hit or miss. If he had just tried to truck or drag him in, he would have fallen sideways short of the goal-line..this is by no means anything that should embarrass any player

  • bo jackson said he told him "next time have bus fair" LMAO

  • >insidetheredzone, never to take anything away from Bo because he was an outstanding athlete, but if Bo was going to the hall of fame before he got hurt, then would that also mean Boz was going before he got hurt as well...remember his shoulder injury at Oklahoma started his downfall...and kentamitchell, if Boz was just overrated well then that is the fault of his stats, a National Championship, and the NCAA for making him a two time Butkus award recipient

  • they hit at an angle if they both were square or at least the angle didnt appear to show that bo was running away then finally spinning away from bosworth. Nope not a TRUCK-STICK worthy hit.

  • Bo Jackson didn't run him over. Good lord the video is right there. They hit and Bo spun around him for the goal line that he almost didn't make.

  • BO JACKSON WAS LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN he should be in the HALL OF FAME everyone Knew including the NFL he was going to the HALL OF FAME before he got HURT.... i never seen anyone with his POWER, SIZE & SPEED EVER SINCE THEN..... Earl Campbell aka Earl the Pearl Had the Power and Size but didn't have the SPEED.... BO should be in the HALL OF FAME!!! Just for those amazing runs and Knockout BOZWORTH on his ASS

  • @insidetheredzone earl campbell was very fast for his size

  • really??? he hit the guy from the side??? anyone who played football knows how hard it is to tackle someone from leaning back and hitting someones side, im impressed he stuck with him. players today woulda gave up. he got run over like tom brady doesnt need his own set of rules in the NFL

  • 23 people are raiders/texas/oklahoma state fans

  • He got bucked over.

  • Comment removed

  • Ha Ha look at the play he didnt run over boz ,as a matter off fack boz was standing then he tackle the great bo. there is no draging Boz is grabing him at the one. P.S. the next time the raiders got the ball Boz trackle him behind the line. Everybody thought he was a asshole and he was ,look at tape again. P.S. the great Bo Jackson did run over everybody he was a stud.I think hes one of the greats

  • Still think the title of this video needs to be changed, it's incorrect. Bo vs Boz, sure, Bo running over Boz? No.

  • Bo didnt run over shit. Jackson basicly bounced off Boz and ran off to the side for about 4 feet. Big deal? Over hyped faggotry at its worst.

  • So much of Seattle's time and money was wasted on that idiot.

  • Hello Boz, this is how you play football

  • Well, I'm not a big Boz fan, but in his defense there's not a whole lot of guys on this planet that were big enough, strong enough and bad enough to stop Bo when he got going.

  • i wood not call that run over

  • Most overrated play ever. I see this kind of thing week in week out in the NFL.

    Big wup.

  • @redflare221 agreed, this is WAY overrated as a knock on Boz..it was actually a good tackle if you watch close..Bo just made a great effort at getting it into the endzone..it is POSSIBLE to have a good on good matchup

  • lol. I loved watching that Worst Top Draft Picks show that (I think) you got the clip from.

  • Once, an entire country disagreed with Bo Jackson. It's now known as the moon.

  • it kind of breaks my heart a little bit, and i'm a steelers fan. but just think what bo would have been if his hip had cooperated.

  • Any NFL running back is supposed to run over a flat footed linebacker when they have a full head of steam.

  • ahhah THEY HAD SOME BIG ASS PADS BACK DEN

  • so true turfturbo. i remember watching that play and thinking they were both gonna be legends. bo jackson would've shattered Payton's record . e. smith as well. bo was the best n that cincy game ruined it all. boz was quick to go as well.

  • Bo Jackson probably would have driven prime Ray Lewis into the end zone too.

I am still pissed that Bo Jackson didn't stay with my Buccaneers, but Bo himself isn't the person I am mad at. After the crap the Bucs ownership pulled on Bo, he should have driven to their houses and beat that ass.

  • RIP Bill King

  • In his defense Boz was already dealing with bad shoulder problems at that time. The same problems that ended his career 2 games into the next (89) season. Bo Jackson had to retire a year later with the hip injury. 2 great players cut down in their prime.

  • No dig deal. Bo probably would have bulled through any single defensive player, no slight on Boz.

  • he didn't run him over lmao..if that play was at midfield, nobody would ever have remembered it. the bozzzz wasn't a bad pro player , remember that.

  • Boz never recovered from that game

  • Umm, didn't exactly run him over...

  • hey tstamper26....understand the importance of the play....bosworth was running his mouth the week before about Bo and then they met face to face and Bo won. you dumbass

  • @bmartz5 I couldn't agree more, don't forget though that Bosworth's job and role on the team was to talk smack and draw attention to himself so that the other defenders would be free to move about.

  • hey tstamper26....understand the importance of the play....bosworth was running his mouth the week before about Bo and then they met face to face and Bo won. you dumbass

  • Boz made this a hilight when he opened his fat mouth saying he would "contain" Jackson. Bo never trash talked, but he made Boz eat his wouds.

  • RAIDERS - 33 ...seachickens 3 - ...2010 !! :)

  • Holy facemask neck twist from the Boz.....desperate much

  • Boz even tries a wicked facemask here desperation

  • still got the tackle.......... just cause he scored it's amazing not

  • @johnnycage435 lol. typically, on the goal line, defensive players don't count it as a success when they "get the tackle" in the end zone, after getting plowed over, and having to grab a whole bunch of face mask to even have a chance on the play.

  • bo didnt "blast" him, but he stood him up and fell into the end zone

  • im a sea hawks fan and a BO Jackson fan although this play wasn't anything to talk about, the Boz was the biggest disappointment in sea hawks history. i take that back he was the 2nd biggest disappointment. the # 1 was super bowl 40.

  • I see plays like this every week...who cares!

Out of all of Bo Jackson's highlights, this is one of the most overrated. Hell, he did the same thing to Ronnie Lott too.

  • boz,s career did not go down after this or because of this play. he had good games after this against denver, chicago,kc,and played great 15 tackles against houston in the wildcard playoff game.in 1988 he and the defense started great but then he got hurt. but he still played 6 more games with only one arm. that is why a lot of people say he his a bust because they only remember the end of his career.in 1987 and part of 1988 boz was real good. this play is famous cause he was so famous.

  • Bosworth insulted Los Angeles Raiders rookie running back Bo Jackson and promised in a media event before the game that he would contain the running back. Bo ran for 221 yards this game. THats why its famous

  • Yeah, I've heard far more about this play, then there was to it. He really kind of slipped off of him, and Bos still brought him down (it just happened in the end zone)!

  • boz was awesome in college but he was damaged goods by the time seaducks got him he was smart and made those seaducks and llyods pay. seahawks suck a good place to get easy money and move on

  • @vtrman1962 Whos your favorite team then?

  • everybody got run over by bo jackson

  • I wouldn't call this being "Run Over". Maybe "Run Through" which happens all the time in the NFL.

  • Ahhhh, what OTHER people predicted or forecast what is career is supposed to be in length and of course stat's. I surmise that 7-10 yrs is the average lifespan of a linebacker. Cool.

  • Boz was not 'run-over' here. A bust? Stat's prove he put some great number's. Many, many other player's were a greater 'bust' in that way. Did ANY of you play college football and win the ANY award's? Then go Pro? Yep. Bunch of Playsation/Gameboys couch 'taters.

  • @1961slam and he was still a bust!!

  • @CREGLAS If that man was a bust, sign me up. That career no matter how short beat's driving a truck!

  • @1961slam he had an alright career, but not what he was supposed to have. and im not saying he sucks, because nobody in the NFL sucks, im just saying that he never amounted to what people said he was going to. that is a bust!

  • @CREGLAS Wow you're an idiot.

If Jackson hadn't gotten hurt, he would've been a first-ballot hof.

  • @FroobRadio i was talking about Brian Bosworth, buddy! bo jackson is one of my favorite players of all time, and he definately wasnt a bust. boz was a bust.

  • Runs over is a little strong, he just got lower than bosworth did, a run over is what herschel did to the UT safety in his first game, he flattened the guy, this was just textbook running where they teach you to get lower than your attacker.

  • Hey Maven Bosworth was a better player than he's given credit for

  • This play is sooo overrated but Bozo sucks anyway HAHAHAHA

  • I never liked Brian Bosworth and I'm not really defending him here, but why don't people realize that he simply stopped using steroids and wasn't the same after that? If he had continued pumping himself with the stuff like Lyle Alzado did he probably would have been a great NFL defensive player, but he wisely chose his long-term health instead. I saw an interview with the Boz a few years after he retired from football and he looked smaller and much less muscular, more like an ordinary person.

  • i think it was the way he fell on his sholder that injured an already injured boz i am not a fan of seattle but iv seen this play alot his shoulder had been bothering him for a long time i think it was the way he fell that dislocated it the hit was nothing i have seen guys dive into the endzone and pop thier shoulder out well thats my take thanks for posting

  • Bosworth was a huge disappointment in the NFL...probably one of the most over-rated players of all time.

  • @TSM8088 Probably not.

If you think he's one of the top over rated players you don't follow much football.

  • @jorgekluney LOL...an Oklahoma fan.

  • bo and bos were talking alot before the game thats why this clip is of any significance

  • If this is at the 40 yard line it is just another tackle.

  • everybody runs over boz

  • Bozo was a fuckin bust anyway

  • Interesting, I didn't see Bo run over him at all. I saw Boz stand him up, then Bo dip his shoulder, turn away from him and fall sideways into the endzone as Boz goes to strip the ball.

How did he run over him if Bo hits the ground first? You must be watching a different play.

  • I've seen tons of RB' do this in football. Why do all you stupid Raider fans think this is something special...

  • comin from a cowboys fan walter payton was best ever,bo woulda had smith's record if it wasnt for injuries.and emitt smith was third best.

  • @xslash86 Emmitt also has a beefed up O-Line in Dallas, #34 made his own holes to run through

  • @thewho6507 Now that's something I can get behind. WAR EAGLE!!

  • It's amazing how many people think that this SHOULD be a "Highlight", just because Boz talked trash before the game. This is the ONLY highlight ever based off trash-talk. Trash-talk doesn't = highlight. If you want to see someone get run-over, watch John Riggins... in the Superbowl!

  • Bo was awsome. Power, speed... He had it all.

  • But you CAN put the only guy to be voted into an allstar game/probowl in two different sports into the hall.....

  • the Boz was an overrated Bozo

  • @kentamitchell he was a wasted draft pick him and ryan leaf

  • @kentamitchell Overrated? Yea i see linebackers do what he did in college every year. Two time butkus award winners happen all the time. Dude, he played injured his entire pro career basically. Dude was the best raw linebacker i've ever seen.

  • @GO302 Dude. Crack kills.

  • beast

  • I don't have a very good opinion of Bo, but put that aside, this is the most overrated play of that decade. He drug him a couple of yards, didn't get ran over at all. Look at Earl Campbell or John Riggins highlights. They show you how to "run over" somebody.

  • You don't know the history of this game and how much trash talking Bosworth did before the game.

  • I don't know the history? That's funny. Take the trash talking aside, and look at the caption of the vid. I've even seen cartoons drawn of this play with tire tracks on Boz's chest. This is a missed tackle because of a bad angle, nothing more.

  • I agree with you!

  • Brian Bosworth was a lot of talk, but people forget that he was also a pretty good player. He might not been able to cash the checks his mouth wrote, but that didn't really matter on the field. He a solid linebacker. It's a shame he didn't last longer.

  • Hey Realstill he had inury problems during his career while in Seattle.

  • @dal4018

    Yes, that's why I think it's a shame he didn't last longer.

I think many people associate Bosworth the man with the fabricated media image, "The Boz". Bosworth ran his mouth to create this image, for the purpose of hyping himself in the media and cashing in on his career. Many athletes do this.

Bosworth the man is nothing like his media counter-part. All accounts say he's a good person, and he's even helped rescue two people on two independent occasions.

  • Pretty good?? The man was a STARTING inside linebacker right outa college, one of the toughest positions to grasp in the NFL. And if you look at the numbers and his performance over 3 years he played, no doubt about it he was on his way to a really good career. But like Bo, got hurt, and all we can do is speculate.

  • Sure do, Atwater would KNOCK him back 3 yards...

  • LMFAO!! Actually I've seen Bo knock Atwater back about 5 yards on a few occasions, not to mention Ronnie Lott (who was a harder hitter than Atwater) LOL

  • Great run by Bo but this tackle (or no-tackle) must be the most overrated (or overdiscussed) event in the NFL. Still, if Steve Atwater had been there, BO would NOT KNOW what the hell just hit him

  • did you see it live, in real time? Do you have any idea what you are talking about?

  • atwater was amazing but BO was out of this world . he stood out, amongst a great generation of superstars ...

  • Agreed Mark this was said about him if he had not gotten injured he would have been the second coming of Jim Brown. Those words were said Paul Hornung.

  • Hey Maven Bo ran over Ronnie Lott the precursor to Atwater if he can run over a HOF guy like Lott what do you think he would have done with your guy?????

  • Bo was awesome no doubt but I think we can both agree that having this horrendous Bosworth fuck up as a measuring stick is wrong. Bo was a HOF running back, lott a HOF safety and Bosworth is packing groceries in Seattle.

  • Bo was a freak, but you just can't but a guy in the hall that never put up a thousand yard season.

  • He is in the College Football HoF

  • And rightfully so, but he has no business in the NFL hall.

  • The main reason people remember this play is that Bosworth ran his fool mouth off before the game, insulting Jackson and vowing to contain him. Jackson ran for over 200 yards and 3 TDs that day; Bosworth barely recorded a tackle. Jackson was a god on the football field; Bosworth was a loudmouth punk. The video crystallizes this basic equation. Hence its notoriety.

  • It's just too bad the rest of the story isn't here; the video of Bosworth limping up the sidelines and looking back in disbelief, as though trying to find the license plate on the truck that just ran over him...it was "welcome to the big leagues!"

  • BO KNOWS !

  • Bo had a few yards momentum. Boz was mving laterally and squared up. It was more of a sloppy tackle by Boz. His head should have been on Bo's left side for LEVERAGE. Bo had momentum Boz no leverage any strong back should be able to win that encounter. Overrated

  • @dirkdiggler1966 Thats not true at all , dude. Ive seen great linebackers, like Jack Lambert, Lawrance Taylor, would greet the RB going up the middle, and would stick em.... Type those names and youll get a rude awakening. Steve Atwater S.S. tackeling Christian Okoye 255lbs!!!! yea.

  • Bosworth was on Monday Night Football a few years ago, and said something like he and Bo would have had many memorable encounters if they had played longer.

Now let's see. Bo's career ended because of a hip injury. Bosworth's career ended because he couldn't make it in the NFL. So what's Bosworth trying to say? "I would have been great, if I hadn't sucked?"

  • Boz also had 22 surgeries on his shoulders, BOTH of which were replaced. That MIGHT have had something to do with why he retired early.

  • damn... his uses "head" soap because "head & shoulders" is not up to par.

  • @livardo NOT witty.

  • The reason for the popularity of this play is the insulting by Boz beforehand. However, Boz had the opportunity to stop Bo and keep him out of the endzone and he failed to do that. I think it just further shows Jackson's strength. As already noted, he had many more skillful plays, this one just exemplifies an all around "good" play, not spectacular, just "good."

  • This play is overrated.

  • The best athlete ever to play in the NFL or MLB. Just insane this guy not becuase of boz and this td run .HE has better highlights. But this guy after playing baseball would play in the NFL about 7 games and still holds the best YPC 5.4 ever. 225 ran a 4.12 forty still holds the record for a combine{verifiable not hand timed}. And strong as a ox yeah this guy was a better 2 sport athlete than deon. Hell he couldve went to the olympics for sprinting but there was less m0neY in it.

  • he was on all sorts of roids. calm down.

    and it's "could've gone", not "could've went"

  • According to Jackson, "he (Bosworth) was standing in the way of progress."

  • Class vs. Ass

  • Bo never ran for 1k yards..case closed

  • Bo also never played a full season in the NFL either.

  • Bo never played a full season because he was playing baseball.

  • yeah this is like the plays where bo knocks would be tacklers of their ass. people won't admit how great Bo was. remember, he never played a full season. Football was a passtime to him. averaging 8 or 9 games played his 4 season and he still manage to become the most dominant back during that time in a sport that he never played at 100 % thats insane. he would've become the next jim brown. but much faster and much stronger.

  • Bo Diddley was the fuckin man... he didn't flatline Boz but, he dragged his ass into the endzone and said" Ha ha-HA, GET OFF ME PUNK!"

  • u guys are all right. there is nothing special about this play. he stood boz up, big deal.

it wasn't like other plays he made where he knocked defenders back and flat onto their asses.

but Boz talked trash about Bo and said he was gonna take him down. that is why people bring this play up all the time.

  • He was awewome!!! He had more yards than most of the other halfbacks and he only played half a season!!

  • Just a ho-hum football play.

    What's the big deal here?

  • brandon jacobs running over leron landry tops this x100000 the boz didnt even get ran over he held on and actually took bo down but unfortunately he fell right in to the endzone...

  • Go Raiders!!!

  • It's a famous highlight because of the fact that Brian Bosworth was hailed as some juggernaut-type Super Linebacker who ultimately had an unmemorable career in Seattle.

But hell, I guess you all are Seahawks fans.

  • Just an FYI, most Seahawks fans do not hold Brian Bosworth in very high regards. The people who think this play is unremarkable and have commented I assume are looking at it with no bias.

  • What's really striking about this is how incredibly ORDINARY it is. RB sweeps, LB doesn't pick him up in time, TD. Compare any of the amazing football plays on this website to this...The Play, Trinity's 15 Laterals, Wrong Ball, Cromarite's 109-yard return, heck, even "Crazy Tecmo Super Bowl Run".

That's why this site is so great, it really helsp separate the wheat from the chaff and ensures that overbown "ownages" like this collapse dead.

  • Sheesh, the comment below contains the second syllable of the word "jackass", and "h", "e", double toothpick. when did youtube start the censorship crap?

  • This is the terrific play by Jackson I've been hearing about all these years? This is Jackson "knocking Bosworth on his ass"? Hell, if it had been at midfield, no one would remember it

  • I'm sorry, I didn't see anyone being run over. Were you watching the same video?

If anything Bo turns his back and falls into the endzone. Weak overrated play. /yawn

  • Thats because he got his ass dragged into that endzone bottom line is that Bo Jackson tore up Brian Bosworth he could not hold him! And for the record its not overrated get over it!!!

  • Play is overrated, it's pedestrian. Boring. You see tackles like that on every series. Can we please let this 'urban myth' play die?

If you want to celebrate Bo Jackson, go right ahead, he was an amazing athlete, but this play is commonplace.

  • You weren't alive to put this play in context. Bosworth was regarded as super human coming into the draft. Like Tony Mandrich or Michael Vick. Hype, hype, hype. Bosworth was talking smack that Bo Jackson would never get by him. The anticipation was high, like a boxing match. The play itself isn't spectacular, but Bo got by and dragged him as he fell into the end zone. That wasn't supposed to happen. People flipped out. Bo knows linebackers.

  • @tstamper26 Bosworth is not overated. What you expect from 3 years playing with injuries? Look at his first season and after the injuries he'll allways be known for this one play. Only mistake he made is trying to tackle Bo Jackson straight up instead of hitting the knees hard and paid for it. The Boz is still one of the best to lace them up at college. injury promo in the NFL yes

  • @tstamper26 - Yeah it's a pretty common play. Bettis ran over Urlacher harder than that..

  • @tstamper26 the reoson this play is famous is because boz's NFL carrer really went down after this play

  • im disapointed in this highlight... yea he drags him into the endzone. but i could think of a gang of other bo jackson highlights that arent even from foootball that are better than this

  • "2rad008" - Wow, you're a complete idiot! Nice diction & rage!

FACTS: Field position is the only reason why this clip is ever shown. The play itself is absolutely not a highlight. It's just an urban legend. Bo hits the turf slightly before Boz. Bo actually ran a 4.12 40. No one could stop him on an angle at full speed from gaining 2 yards. It's just physics! BTW, this TD meant NOTHING in this game or the season. The Raiders went 5-10 and missed the play-offs!

  • Maybe it is a highlight because Boz was had the advantage but Bo Jackson made him his bitch and damn near carried him into the endzone with him. Maybe that is Y it's a highlight. Why don't both of you think before you fucking talk or actually look at the video, DUMBSHITS!

  • "Blasted and dragged him into the end zone"? Give me a break. Like you, I have never understood why this is such a great play. Boz did tackle him, so what's the big deal? No RB has ever scored after being hit on the one yard line?

  • I like Bo, and had Raiders tickets at this time. But I never understood why this is a highlight. This kind of play happens in every game. That was a 2-yard run. True it was a TD, but no one coming off a block can stop a 235lb TB - who runs a 4.2 40 and is at full speed - for NO GAIN! People who think this is a highlight have never played football. People only like this bc they HATE Boz. If it's not on the goaline, its' a BOZWORTH highlight!
