what a joke. ive heard of this play for yrs. i was expecting something awsome on Bo's part. Boz definitely didnt get run over. he made the tackle even when he was in a very bad tacking position. any where else than on the goal line, it woulda been a highlight on bozworths side. alot of hype over nothing.
watch the video close..good tackle, good run...Bo did a halfspin move to fall on his back forward..THAT is how he got in, because he didn't run like a hit or miss. If he had just tried to truck or drag him in, he would have fallen sideways short of the goal-line..this is by no means anything that should embarrass any player
>insidetheredzone, never to take anything away from Bo because he was an outstanding athlete, but if Bo was going to the hall of fame before he got hurt, then would that also mean Boz was going before he got hurt as well...remember his shoulder injury at Oklahoma started his downfall...and kentamitchell, if Boz was just overrated well then that is the fault of his stats, a National Championship, and the NCAA for making him a two time Butkus award recipient

P.S. the great Bo Jackson did run over everybody he was a stud.I think hes one of the greats

@redflare221 agreed, this is WAY overrated as a knock on Boz..it was actually a good tackle if you watch close..Bo just made a great effort at getting it into the endzone..it is POSSIBLE to have a good on good matchup

@johnnycage435 lol. typically, on the goal line, defensive players don't count it as a success when they "get the tackle" in the end zone, after getting plowed over, and having to grab a whole bunch of face mask to even have a chance on the play.

@FroobRadio i was talking about Brian Bosworth, buddy! bo jackson is one of my favorite players of all time, and he definately wasnt a bust. boz was a bust.
Runs over is a little strong, he just got lower than bosworth did, a run over is what herschel did to the UT safety in his first game, he flattened the guy, this was just textbook running where they teach you to get lower than your attacker.
I never liked Brian Bosworth and I'm not really defending him here, but why don't people realize that he simply stopped using steroids and wasn't the same after that? If he had continued pumping himself with the stuff like Lyle Alzado did he probably would have been a great NFL defensive player, but he wisely chose his long-term health instead. I saw an interview with the Boz a few years after he retired from football and he looked smaller and much less muscular, more like an ordinary person.
i think it was the way he fell on his sholder that injured an already injured boz i am not a fan of seattle but iv seen this play alot his shoulder had been bothering him for a long time i think it was the way he fell that dislocated it the hit was nothing i have seen guys dive into the endzone and pop thier shoulder out well thats my take thanks for posting
Interesting, I didn't see Bo run over him at all. I saw Boz stand him up, then Bo dip his shoulder, turn away from him and fall sideways into the endzone as Boz goes to strip the ball.
How did he run over him if Bo hits the ground first? You must be watching a different play.
It's amazing how many people think that this SHOULD be a "Highlight", just because Boz talked trash before the game. This is the ONLY highlight ever based off trash-talk. Trash-talk doesn't = highlight. If you want to see someone get run-over, watch John Riggins... in the Superbowl!
@kentamitchell Overrated? Yea i see linebackers do what he did in college every year. Two time butkus award winners happen all the time. Dude, he played injured his entire pro career basically. Dude was the best raw linebacker i've ever seen.
I don't have a very good opinion of Bo, but put that aside, this is the most overrated play of that decade. He drug him a couple of yards, didn't get ran over at all. Look at Earl Campbell or John Riggins highlights. They show you how to "run over" somebody.
I don't know the history? That's funny. Take the trash talking aside, and look at the caption of the vid. I've even seen cartoons drawn of this play with tire tracks on Boz's chest. This is a missed tackle because of a bad angle, nothing more.
Brian Bosworth was a lot of talk, but people forget that he was also a pretty good player. He might not been able to cash the checks his mouth wrote, but that didn't really matter on the field. He a solid linebacker. It's a shame he didn't last longer.
Yes, that's why I think it's a shame he didn't last longer.
I think many people associate Bosworth the man with the fabricated media image, "The Boz". Bosworth ran his mouth to create this image, for the purpose of hyping himself in the media and cashing in on his career. Many athletes do this.
Bosworth the man is nothing like his media counter-part. All accounts say he's a good person, and he's even helped rescue two people on two independent occasions.
Pretty good?? The man was a STARTING inside linebacker right outa college, one of the toughest positions to grasp in the NFL. And if you look at the numbers and his performance over 3 years he played, no doubt about it he was on his way to a really good career. But like Bo, got hurt, and all we can do is speculate.
LMFAO!! Actually I've seen Bo knock Atwater back about 5 yards on a few occasions, not to mention Ronnie Lott (who was a harder hitter than Atwater) LOL
Great run by Bo but this tackle (or no-tackle) must be the most overrated (or overdiscussed) event in the NFL. Still, if Steve Atwater had been there, BO would NOT KNOW what the hell just hit him
Agreed Mark this was said about him if he had not gotten injured he would have been the second coming of Jim Brown. Those words were said Paul Hornung.
Hey Maven Bo ran over Ronnie Lott the precursor to Atwater if he can run over a HOF guy like Lott what do you think he would have done with your guy?????
Bo was awesome no doubt but I think we can both agree that having this horrendous Bosworth fuck up as a measuring stick is wrong. Bo was a HOF running back, lott a HOF safety and Bosworth is packing groceries in Seattle.
The main reason people remember this play is that Bosworth ran his fool mouth off before the game, insulting Jackson and vowing to contain him. Jackson ran for over 200 yards and 3 TDs that day; Bosworth barely recorded a tackle. Jackson was a god on the football field; Bosworth was a loudmouth punk. The video crystallizes this basic equation. Hence its notoriety.
It's just too bad the rest of the story isn't here; the video of Bosworth limping up the sidelines and looking back in disbelief, as though trying to find the license plate on the truck that just ran over him...it was "welcome to the big leagues!"
Bo had a few yards momentum. Boz was mving laterally and squared up. It was more of a sloppy tackle by Boz. His head should have been on Bo's left side for LEVERAGE. Bo had momentum Boz no leverage any strong back should be able to win that encounter. Overrated
@dirkdiggler1966 Thats not true at all , dude. Ive seen great linebackers, like Jack Lambert, Lawrance Taylor, would greet the RB going up the middle, and would stick em.... Type those names and youll get a rude awakening. Steve Atwater S.S. tackeling Christian Okoye 255lbs!!!! yea.
Bosworth was on Monday Night Football a few years ago, and said something like he and Bo would have had many memorable encounters if they had played longer.
Now let's see. Bo's career ended because of a hip injury. Bosworth's career ended because he couldn't make it in the NFL. So what's Bosworth trying to say? "I would have been great, if I hadn't sucked?"
The reason for the popularity of this play is the insulting by Boz beforehand. However, Boz had the opportunity to stop Bo and keep him out of the endzone and he failed to do that. I think it just further shows Jackson's strength. As already noted, he had many more skillful plays, this one just exemplifies an all around "good" play, not spectacular, just "good."
The best athlete ever to play in the NFL or MLB. Just insane this guy not becuase of boz and this td run .HE has better highlights. But this guy after playing baseball would play in the NFL about 7 games and still holds the best YPC 5.4 ever. 225 ran a 4.12 forty still holds the record for a combine{verifiable not hand timed}. And strong as a ox yeah this guy was a better 2 sport athlete than deon. Hell he couldve went to the olympics for sprinting but there was less m0neY in it.
yeah this is like the plays where bo knocks would be tacklers of their ass. people won't admit how great Bo was. remember, he never played a full season. Football was a passtime to him. averaging 8 or 9 games played his 4 season and he still manage to become the most dominant back during that time in a sport that he never played at 100 % thats insane. he would've become the next jim brown. but much faster and much stronger.
brandon jacobs running over leron landry tops this x100000 the boz didnt even get ran over he held on and actually took bo down but unfortunately he fell right in to the endzone...
It's a famous highlight because of the fact that Brian Bosworth was hailed as some juggernaut-type Super Linebacker who ultimately had an unmemorable career in Seattle.
Just an FYI, most Seahawks fans do not hold Brian Bosworth in very high regards. The people who think this play is unremarkable and have commented I assume are looking at it with no bias.
What's really striking about this is how incredibly ORDINARY it is. RB sweeps, LB doesn't pick him up in time, TD. Compare any of the amazing football plays on this website to this...The Play, Trinity's 15 Laterals, Wrong Ball, Cromarite's 109-yard return, heck, even "Crazy Tecmo Super Bowl Run".
That's why this site is so great, it really helsp separate the wheat from the chaff and ensures that overbown "ownages" like this collapse dead.
Sheesh, the comment below contains the second syllable of the word "jackass", and "h", "e", double toothpick. when did youtube start the censorship crap?
This is the terrific play by Jackson I've been hearing about all these years? This is Jackson "knocking Bosworth on his ass"? Hell, if it had been at midfield, no one would remember it
Thats because he got his ass dragged into that endzone bottom line is that Bo Jackson tore up Brian Bosworth he could not hold him! And for the record its not overrated get over it!!!
You weren't alive to put this play in context. Bosworth was regarded as super human coming into the draft. Like Tony Mandrich or Michael Vick. Hype, hype, hype. Bosworth was talking smack that Bo Jackson would never get by him. The anticipation was high, like a boxing match. The play itself isn't spectacular, but Bo got by and dragged him as he fell into the end zone. That wasn't supposed to happen. People flipped out. Bo knows linebackers.
@tstamper26 Bosworth is not overated. What you expect from 3 years playing with injuries? Look at his first season and after the injuries he'll allways be known for this one play. Only mistake he made is trying to tackle Bo Jackson straight up instead of hitting the knees hard and paid for it. The Boz is still one of the best to lace them up at college. injury promo in the NFL yes
im disapointed in this highlight... yea he drags him into the endzone. but i could think of a gang of other bo jackson highlights that arent even from foootball that are better than this
FACTS: Field position is the only reason why this clip is ever shown. The play itself is absolutely not a highlight. It's just an urban legend. Bo hits the turf slightly before Boz. Bo actually ran a 4.12 40. No one could stop him on an angle at full speed from gaining 2 yards. It's just physics! BTW, this TD meant NOTHING in this game or the season. The Raiders went 5-10 and missed the play-offs!
Maybe it is a highlight because Boz was had the advantage but Bo Jackson made him his bitch and damn near carried him into the endzone with him. Maybe that is Y it's a highlight. Why don't both of you think before you fucking talk or actually look at the video, DUMBSHITS!
"Blasted and dragged him into the end zone"? Give me a break. Like you, I have never understood why this is such a great play. Boz did tackle him, so what's the big deal? No RB has ever scored after being hit on the one yard line?
I like Bo, and had Raiders tickets at this time. But I never understood why this is a highlight. This kind of play happens in every game. That was a 2-yard run. True it was a TD, but no one coming off a block can stop a 235lb TB - who runs a 4.2 40 and is at full speed - for NO GAIN! People who think this is a highlight have never played football. People only like this bc they HATE Boz. If it's not on the goaline, its' a BOZWORTH highlight!
This is so over hyped.....it was a side-angle approach

Bozo was a fuckin bust anyway
UltimateWarrior808 1 year ago 3
Interesting, I didn't see Bo run over him at all. I saw Boz stand him up, then Bo dip his shoulder, turn away from him and fall sideways into the endzone as Boz goes to strip the ball.
How did he run over him if Bo hits the ground first? You must be watching a different play.
tstamper26 1 year ago
I've seen tons of RB' do this in football. Why do all you stupid Raider fans think this is something special...

Bo was awsome. Power, speed... He had it all.

I don't have a very good opinion of Bo, but put that aside, this is the most overrated play of that decade. He drug him a couple of yards, didn't get ran over at all. Look at Earl Campbell or John Riggins highlights. They show you how to "run over" somebody.
bisquik3006 2 years ago
You don't know the history of this game and how much trash talking Bosworth did before the game.
kklol7 2 years ago
I don't know the history? That's funny. Take the trash talking aside, and look at the caption of the vid. I've even seen cartoons drawn of this play with tire tracks on Boz's chest. This is a missed tackle because of a bad angle, nothing more.
bisquik3006 2 years ago
I agree with you!
TheMavenFrankeus 2 years ago
Brian Bosworth was a lot of talk, but people forget that he was also a pretty good player. He might not been able to cash the checks his mouth wrote, but that didn't really matter on the field. He a solid linebacker. It's a shame he didn't last longer.
etherealstill 2 years ago
Hey Realstill he had inury problems during his career while in Seattle.
dal4018 2 years ago
@dal4018
All accounts say he's a good person, and he's even helped rescue two people on two independent occasions.
etherealstill 2 years ago
Pretty good?? The man was a STARTING inside linebacker right outa college, one of the toughest positions to grasp in the NFL. And if you look at the numbers and his performance over 3 years he played, no doubt about it he was on his way to a really good career. But like Bo, got hurt, and all we can do is speculate.
takedown998 2 years ago
Sure do, Atwater would KNOCK him back 3 yards...
TheMavenFrankeus 2 years ago
LMFAO!! Actually I've seen Bo knock Atwater back about 5 yards on a few occasions, not to mention Ronnie Lott (who was a harder hitter than Atwater) LOL
takedown998 2 years ago
Great run by Bo but this tackle (or no-tackle) must be the most overrated (or overdiscussed) event in the NFL. Still, if Steve Atwater had been there, BO would NOT KNOW what the hell just hit him
TheMavenFrankeus 2 years ago
did you see it live, in real time? Do you have any idea what you are talking about?
Gusbuster811 2 years ago
atwater was amazing but BO was out of this world . he stood out, amongst a great generation of superstars ...
markdrew3535 2 years ago
Agreed Mark this was said about him if he had not gotten injured he would have been the second coming of Jim Brown. Those words were said Paul Hornung.
dal4018 2 years ago
Hey Maven Bo ran over Ronnie Lott the precursor to Atwater if he can run over a HOF guy like Lott what do you think he would have done with your guy?????
dal4018 2 years ago
Bo was awesome no doubt but I think we can both agree that having this horrendous Bosworth fuck up as a measuring stick is wrong. Bo was a HOF running back, lott a HOF safety and Bosworth is packing groceries in Seattle.
TheMavenFrankeus 2 years ago
Bo was a freak, but you just can't but a guy in the hall that never put up a thousand yard season.
bisquik3006 2 years ago
He is in the College Football HoF
kklol7 2 years ago
And rightfully so, but he has no business in the NFL hall.
bisquik3006 2 years ago
The main reason people remember this play is that Bosworth ran his fool mouth off before the game, insulting Jackson and vowing to contain him. Jackson ran for over 200 yards and 3 TDs that day; Bosworth barely recorded a tackle. Jackson was a god on the football field; Bosworth was a loudmouth punk. The video crystallizes this basic equation. Hence its notoriety.
ArkilokusJames 2 years ago
It's just too bad the rest of the story isn't here; the video of Bosworth limping up the sidelines and looking back in disbelief, as though trying to find the license plate on the truck that just ran over him...it was "welcome to the big leagues!"
ripstaur 2 years ago 2
BO KNOWS !
WilllieMaysHays 2 years ago
Bo had a few yards momentum. Boz was mving laterally and squared up. It was more of a sloppy tackle by Boz. His head should have been on Bo's left side for LEVERAGE. Bo had momentum Boz no leverage any strong back should be able to win that encounter. Overrated
dirkdiggler1966 2 years ago
@dirkdiggler1966 Thats not true at all , dude. Ive seen great linebackers, like Jack Lambert, Lawrance Taylor, would greet the RB going up the middle, and would stick em.... Type those names and youll get a rude awakening. Steve Atwater S.S. tackeling Christian Okoye 255lbs!!!! yea.
rmrooster01 2 years ago
Bosworth was on Monday Night Football a few years ago, and said something like he and Bo would have had many memorable encounters if they had played longer.
Now let's see. Bo's career ended because of a hip injury. Bosworth's career ended because he couldn't make it in the NFL. So what's Bosworth trying to say? "I would have been great, if I hadn't sucked?"
AFatGuyNamedPete 2 years ago
Boz also had 22 surgeries on his shoulders, BOTH of which were replaced. That MIGHT have had something to do with why he retired early.
madjohne 2 years ago 2
damn... his uses "head" soap because "head & shoulders" is not up to par.
livardo 1 year ago
@livardo NOT witty.
djfakt 1 year ago
The reason for the popularity of this play is the insulting by Boz beforehand. However, Boz had the opportunity to stop Bo and keep him out of the endzone and he failed to do that. I think it just further shows Jackson's strength. As already noted, he had many more skillful plays, this one just exemplifies an all around "good" play, not spectacular, just "good."
orbiter5166 2 years ago
This play is overrated.
JAMMYbeast 2 years ago
The best athlete ever to play in the NFL or MLB. Just insane this guy not becuase of boz and this td run .HE has better highlights. But this guy after playing baseball would play in the NFL about 7 games and still holds the best YPC 5.4 ever. 225 ran a 4.12 forty still holds the record for a combine{verifiable not hand timed}. And strong as a ox yeah this guy was a better 2 sport athlete than deon. Hell he couldve went to the olympics for sprinting but there was less m0neY in it.

Bo never played a full season because he was playing baseball.
tallsmile28 2 years ago
yeah this is like the plays where bo knocks would be tacklers of their ass. people won't admit how great Bo was. remember, he never played a full season. Football was a passtime to him. averaging 8 or 9 games played his 4 season and he still manage to become the most dominant back during that time in a sport that he never played at 100 % thats insane. he would've become the next jim brown. but much faster and much stronger.
OscarJMarroquin 2 years ago 2
Bo Diddley was the fuckin man... he didn't flatline Boz but, he dragged his ass into the endzone and said" Ha ha-HA, GET OFF ME PUNK!"
trainedmaniac 2 years ago
u guys are all right. there is nothing special about this play. he stood boz up, big deal.
it wasn't like other plays he made where he knocked defenders back and flat onto their asses.
but Boz talked trash about Bo and said he was gonna take him down. that is why people bring this play up all the time.
mattingly17 2 years ago
He was awewome!!! He had more yards than most of the other halfbacks and he only played half a season!!

It's a famous highlight because of the fact that Brian Bosworth was hailed as some juggernaut-type Super Linebacker who ultimately had an unmemorable career in Seattle.
But hell, I guess you all are Seahawks fans.
StraightOuttaDC 2 years ago
Just an FYI, most Seahawks fans do not hold Brian Bosworth in very high regards. The people who think this play is unremarkable and have commented I assume are looking at it with no bias.
tstamper26 2 years ago
What's really striking about this is how incredibly ORDINARY it is. RB sweeps, LB doesn't pick him up in time, TD. Compare any of the amazing football plays on this website to this...The Play, Trinity's 15 Laterals, Wrong Ball, Cromarite's 109-yard return, heck, even "Crazy Tecmo Super Bowl Run".
That's why this site is so great, it really helsp separate the wheat from the chaff and ensures that overbown "ownages" like this collapse dead.

This is the terrific play by Jackson I've been hearing about all these years? This is Jackson "knocking Bosworth on his ass"? Hell, if it had been at midfield, no one would remember it
Jesse8501 2 years ago
I'm sorry, I didn't see anyone being run over. Were you watching the same video?
If anything Bo turns his back and falls into the endzone. Weak overrated play. /yawn
tstamper26 2 years ago
Thats because he got his ass dragged into that endzone bottom line is that Bo Jackson tore up Brian Bosworth he could not hold him! And for the record its not overrated get over it!!!
superhyphy900 2 years ago
Play is overrated, it's pedestrian. Boring. You see tackles like that on every series. Can we please let this 'urban myth' play die?
If you want to celebrate Bo Jackson, go right ahead, he was an amazing athlete, but this play is commonplace.
tstamper26 2 years ago 10
You weren't alive to put this play in context. Bosworth was regarded as super human coming into the draft. Like Tony Mandrich or Michael Vick. Hype, hype, hype. Bosworth was talking smack that Bo Jackson would never get by him. The anticipation was high, like a boxing match. The play itself isn't spectacular, but Bo got by and dragged him as he fell into the end zone. That wasn't supposed to happen. People flipped out. Bo knows linebackers.
deadzeppelin 2 years ago
@tstamper26 Bosworth is not overated. What you expect from 3 years playing with injuries? Look at his first season and after the injuries he'll allways be known for this one play. Only mistake he made is trying to tackle Bo Jackson straight up instead of hitting the knees hard and paid for it. The Boz is still one of the best to lace them up at college. injury promo in the NFL yes
Crabman2186 1 year ago
@tstamper26 - Yeah it's a pretty common play. Bettis ran over Urlacher harder than that..
WJJ1968 1 year ago
@tstamper26 the reoson this play is famous is because boz's NFL carrer really went down after this play
pats4lifebb 1 year ago
im disapointed in this highlight... yea he drags him into the endzone. but i could think of a gang of other bo jackson highlights that arent even from foootball that are better than this
doughboy8907 2 years ago
"2rad008" - Wow, you're a complete idiot! Nice diction & rage!
The Raiders went 5-10 and missed the play-offs!
madjohne 2 years ago
Maybe it is a highlight because Boz was had the advantage but Bo Jackson made him his bitch and damn near carried him into the endzone with him. Maybe that is Y it's a highlight. Why don't both of you think before you fucking talk or actually look at the video, DUMBSHITS!
2rad008 2 years ago
"Blasted and dragged him into the end zone"? Give me a break. Like you, I have never understood why this is such a great play. Boz did tackle him, so what's the big deal? No RB has ever scored after being hit on the one yard line?
moonlizard2 2 years ago 3
I like Bo, and had Raiders tickets at this time. But I never understood why this is a highlight. This kind of play happens in every game. That was a 2-yard run. True it was a TD, but no one coming off a block can stop a 235lb TB - who runs a 4.2 40 and is at full speed - for NO GAIN! People who think this is a highlight have never played football. People only like this bc they HATE Boz. If it's not on the goaline, its' a BOZWORTH highlight!
