  • Fuck them!!!! No more US dollars!!!!

  • The biggest problem in Haiti is the overpopulation; the fertility rate is around 4 children per woman... about double the US and maybe 3x Japan's. Thats insane, they need to stop having babies that they cant support. Haiti is about the size of Massachusetts with 9 million people... and no way to even grow enough food for themselves.

  • Haitians have deforested 97% of their forests. Haitians are idiots.

  • @RandomWalkTheory look you son of a bitch it is easy to say that Haitian people are idiots when you are not going to the same thing. Try living in a society that only caters to the fucking wealthy. Before you say shit first open your eyes to the fucking issues that they are facing. You have never been there and you dont know what the fuck its like living from day to day!!!!!!!! Since you live in a nation that doesnt endure political and econmic issue you will never understand what it takes

Sorry, my English isn't best, I hope someone can explain me easily, what the article is about.

Is it right, that before the earthquake, many forests were cutted and because of this(?) some places become flood?

  • Since trees' roots absorb the water, whenever it rains heavily, the trees may prevent the flooding to a great degree. Deforestation eliminates this helpful natural aid in preventing heavy precipitation to turn a major disaster.

The earthquake is relevant to the flooding issue only to underline that even before the devastating earthquake of Jan 12, there were a lot of issues to deal with in Haiti - including poverty, famine, deforestation and therefore, floodings.

  • @Btomme

"before the earthquake, many forests were cutted and because of this(?) some places become flood?"

Yes, that is what the article was saying, in part. It would seem it was also pointing out a lack of infrastructure &, to a great extent, a lack of awareness on the part of the common people. 90% of their trees, these people have been on the brink of extinction for some time now. Sad.

    Peace.

  • see how luck we are to be here

  • why would jews in NYtimes care about Haiti ?

just let sheeples public to donate money and fraud money after...

Haiti is doom to failure..,too many refugees..will die in the waters.ecological crisis there..

  • this is a sample of overpopulation madness, the same crowding happens in Sao-Paulo, Jakarta, Bogota, Shanghai, new york, etc, the fact that those other cities do have electricity, does not mean that we're not f*&ing this planet in those places as well. let's stop this madness for earth's sake!

  • please ppls, bevor u write u comments...study first the US politics history against Haiti

  • @MsExato agreed.

the USA aint interested in helping Haiti. They never were. They used to enslave the Haitians in the past, they controlled the government therere and now they take the opportunity to return there with its military. haiti is a perfect base for future agressions against latin-amerika. US-Welfare for Haiti? Come on, wake up, dont be naive ! They`ve send SOLDIERS, not doctors, they send CARRIERS, not first-aid-ships. This is a Conquest, not a Rescue Mission, realize it !

  • well, i think, it is a reqonquest!

  • @faraskan

Simple question, not being argumentative; how long do you think their government will hold their civilization from becoming completely suicidal? What of the Dominican Republic? How many refugees do you think they can handle on their portion of that island?

These people need assistance with nearly every aspect of governance. America is the most diverse land on this planet, why would one want a less diverse land to act as interim government aid?

  • @faraskan Stupid, slavery was back when the EUROPEANS thought the african americans were were inferior. So dont be spewing your America is bad crap, because every country has its faults.

  • @faraskan

Haiti is a black country. You cant help black countries. They are fucked by default. Try to name 1 black country that isnt fucked beyond belief. You can "help" them all you like but the reality is that aid to black countries will always fail aslong as we have to help them from themselves. Blacks across the world simply dont have the organisational skills to establish governments or viable societies. Simple as that.

  • mich fuckts ab, das immer erst irgendwas passieren muss, damit menschen menschen helfen !

  • Too many people on Haiti. 10 kids, that's not good. Reality may conflict with the Vatican but reality always wins.

  • What a shame, all those people and not enough with common sense.

  • as ReliableInsider says *The Vatican doesn't believe in birth control or family planning. (Haiti is a Catholic country.) *. I would write to the Vatican and ask that this is thought about as the children of the world are dying because of age old beliefs that are not supporting this earth right now. It is thoughtless and some of these poor people may belief that they are a gift from god. I would put it in the water yet we can't do that. I would do it in the south of the USA too!

  • They should stop having 10 to 15 children per family. selfish

  • Comment removed

  • no matter how you manage your money. it is tough to be in poverty. money itself is not enough. people in Haiti need basic items to survive everyday. nobody can avoid the tragic disaster in Haiti from the earthquake. it is terrible.

  • why do these people have so many kids???? they need help with birth control

  • Oh! You is very intelligent! Course a needy country need of this. And of various others things: social policy, investments in different sectors...

  • Haiti is the poorest country in the west so they probably don't have birth control. You could make yourself useful by donating a quarter or even a dime instead of making a pointless statement.

  • so it pointless.... so the people of Haiti will keep having up too 15 kids per female,,, that will only lead to a disaster, it will the the fault of jerks like you, who keep running their lips off.... but I think you really like to see people suffer. when the Island get on it feet again I will send them a suitcase full of condoms..that will also help their Aids problem

  • I'm sure the church could provide birth control! Oh wait... their the ones telling them to be fruitful and multiply. Haiti is a nightmare because no one will tell them to stop having kids. Its not only Haiti, its almost every country on the planet that is overpopulated, including the US. Its time to wake up and start implementing birth restrictions worldwide so our numbers can fall naturally. Many countries will be Haiti in 10 years.

  • The Vatican doesn't believe in birth control or family planning. (Haiti is a Catholic country.)

  • @ReliableInsider care to explain why is the vatican important in any way to haiti?
