Autism Speaks, I praise you for raising awareness and helping familys with a child with Autism. But your TV adverts show Autism in general as a scary disease and you even compare it to aids. ASD is a spectrum disorder, so please don't just portray it as low-funtioning, because the ads humiliate higher-functioning Autistics. I also think that your search for a cure is a little too like Hiter searching for an aryan race. I do not hate you, I just do not agree with you. Please speak for yourself.

My daughter has worked with children who have profound symptoms on the ASD. I may not use the correct terminology, and my heart is in the right place. I have observed children, said to be at their peak performance, learn to talk, to sign, and to communicate their needs and wants. She has made such a difference for the families and children she works with and it is amazing what can be done when people know what they are doing.

I don't understand why this charity exist, I've had mild autism since I was 2 and a half years old, and I'm intelligent, know about the art, creative, could read at a forth grade level by the end of kindergarten, And yes I don't socialize much but I don't want to because I just can't relate with people my own age.

You search for a cure that doesn't exist and even if it does, I can't think of anything more ghastly than purging a child of their personality and nature. @AiroskiStudios Its a spectrum disorder, not mere variation, a child which doesn't speak, or has trouble communicating their basic needs, or is still in diapers at age 13 is not mere variation. There are some children which are just odd, but there are some which cannot live and take care of themselves, those need help most, not the geniuses who are autistic.

@golcynski What I was trying to enphasize is the fact that it is not a disease, and variation just seemed the right word at the time. I know it is a spectrum disorder and consider myself very lucky to be high functioning and am able to communicate, ect.

@AiroskiStudios I don't think they're looking to completely speed up the brain's motor skills at say age fifteen. I think if there would be something even similar to a cure, it'd be used at infancy, when the personality hasn't completly developed.

But I do know that science is research stem cells which have alot to do with Autism -and this treatment will be for every human at any age. It will not change who we are -just restore damaged cells in the body.

Autism Speaks does not speak for autistic people they speak for themselves and what they say and advocate for is horrible. In the past they have called us soulless, they say that we are worse than pediatric AIDs, Cancer and Diabetes put together, blame us for our parent's marital and financial problems, they have threatened autistic people with legal action for speaking out against them when those people did nothing wrong and advocate eradicating my people from the world by eliminating autism.
