Thanks for posting. This isnt of my DVD. How come there are so many negative comments about he movie. Every movie made about sombodys life are bound to be nowhere near to how it really was. I think it was good, compared to other movies about real life bands and artists.
I enjoyed the movie. It was a terrible, over-the-top, unrealistic depiction of events that were (mostly) fabricated by Oliver Stone, but parts of the movie were truly magical. This was a scene I remember from the DVD and it was, in my humble opinion, the best scene of the whole movie. It was sweet. Ray probably wishes he had had this experience with his friend, Jim.
@DerekTheComic Not at all. In this scene Ray got his mind in a fantasy. He thinks The Doors still are in the magician summer of 67', like him. And he had had that experience with Jim, but in 1970 Jimbo was mentally gone of The Doors.
Jim, when you really break through there's no drugs, no alcohol, no chicks, no desperate hedonism. You don't break through by living a dream of the lowest common denominator.
La película está basada en el libro de John Densmore "Riders on the storm", que dice que "Ray Manzarek vive en el pasado". Esta escena demustra que Ray ancló su mente en un pasado que, para Jim, se fue.
Thanks for the addition. It reminds what a stupid asshole Oliver Stone is. This scene attempts to mash together famous rock n roll song lyrics and a the title of a book by a famous philosopher. Is that how you write lines for an anti-drug drug-fueled movie? Rubbish...
@thew19 actually thew19, that's how Jim Morrison spoke. If you watch interviews with the guy and listen to the other band members talk about him, you would see that he spoke just like he wrote his poetry.
Does anyone know what the song is that plays right at the very, very end. It sounds really beautiful. Thanks and please reply to my post directly. Thanks
No, I don't think the conversation happened. But it was kind of an archetypal thing between them, something unspoken. Ray's been saying this about Jim--in one way or another--for 38 years. That Venice energy in the beginning, all the things he thought Jim and the Doors could do. And the way JM answers here seems apt--no Ray, you're off, as usual.
This film missed the mark in so many ways. This scene at least had a glimpse into their real feelings.
Damn. If there were more scenes like this in the movie to make Jim seem 3 dimensional the movie might have been good.

This is a wonderful scene that captures so much. Why did Oliver Stone cut the best scenes he filmed?
seedofvision 2 years ago
honestly you realyl think ray and jim ever had a conversation like that before he left with that much self awareness?

It begins pretty good, then the dialogue gets corny as hell. Probably improvising their brains out.
