  • That G chord is a variation of G6. The top e is the 6th note in the G scale hence G6. The fact that the d on the second string is in close harmony with the top gives it an unusual voicing plus there is no 3rd i.e. b in the G chord, a voicing more associated with power chords in rock (G5) Nice stuff.
