  • I saw Billy Eckstine in Glasgow on a few occasions. His presence, style , charisima and that rich voice was absolutely spellbinding. What a talent, and the man himself was an fashion icon[his shirt collar was his trademark].Even Harry Hill sports an updated version of Mr Bs shirt collar.

  • Absolutely magnifican...velvet voice...warms the heart with sweet sounds of music...thank you so much for posting...had never heard this song...my mom sent to me as she knows I adore his voice...so nice to be able to share such beauty with mom and others.

  • All time greats - the music, the poetry of the lyrics EVERYTHING says this man was really a number one in this genre. I love every single note of his work. He is Mr. B - the BEst!

  • I am 64 andas a child I grew up with grandparents who played all these beautiful songs all day long. They had piles of 78's of all the popular songs of that era. Billy has remained a great favourite of mine all my life. How priviliged I feel to have listened to such a wonderful voice and fantastic songs.

  • What a beautiful song. It brings so many memories for me and my wife. we heard this song in Glasgow when we first met there in 1954. These songs are treasures for us and the world. Where did all the music and songs go, we never hear them any more.

  • Where did all those years go, beautiful memories of youth. He was fabulous. whatever happened to romance.

  • Fantastic song from the 50s love the song & Billy Eckstines version what a wonderful voice.

  • This song tugs at the heart strings even after all these years - wonderful.

  • Absolute heaven, words just fail me to describe this truly wonderful rendition.

  • "Personne d'autre que toi"Une vieille histoire!!!

  • One of the most romantic, smooth as velvet voices God ever created.. Sadly, we hardly ever hear his music played anymore. What a cryin' shame! He's perfection. He can still make this 50+ year old woman swoon!

  • What a style, what cotrol, what warmth from Billy and dont forget Nick Brodski he russian jewish composer ( be my love, way to the stars, because your mind) died in 1958. this is a favourite of mine from the 1950's...thanks for posting.

  • My daughter is into 'Buble' at the moment (she's 25) - Buble is a fine singer, keeping the old style alive (I hope he doesn't become 'too' modern).

I will fail in my duty if my daughter never hears the beauty that is Billy Eckstine and other great singers of this era, and also the unforgettable songs, too.

  • Wonderful - thanks.

  • What a classic!sounds every bit as good as when recorded.Class will always show throughdespite the years.

  • That is so romantic .... how I miss quality songs and singers like Mr B ...

  • Thank you for posting this song great great keep the postings coming.

  • Nicolas Brodski composed the theme music to 'The way to the stars' 1945, The score for 'The toast of New Orleans' and 'Because your mine' the latter two with Maria Lanza. A great film composer. I love this song so much and only one person can sing it, guess who! thank you so,so much

  • OUR WEDDING SONG.X

  • about time we had this on u tube. what a great song my Nicholas Brodski, from the film 'The flame and the flesh'. This was No 1 in 1954 in the uk. Not easy to find.I have it on a LP. Iam thrilled to hear Billy who was great singer do this number which reminds me so much of happy days in New cross South London living with my dear mum and sister in a little flat. Thanks again for posting. Pete'Kiwi'Keegan

  • Hello, Pete. I have this on a 45, with 'Seabreeze' on the flip side; another superb job (MGM K11712) by the great Mr. 'B'. I also have it on a 78, but I couldn' t give you any number without an exhaustive search, as I have roughly 800 78's. I was in Korea in 1954 and I never heard the song until I got home. Could you give me some info about the LP, and did you know there has been a 2 CD set (Verve 819 442-2) available for a long time?

  • @ljliljohn I would give a lot to have Eckstine's recording of "Seabreeze." This is a beautiful and haunting piece of music that never got popular and is now utterly forgotten. It reminds me a little of other exotic island songs like "Poinciana" and "Flamingo." Thanks so much for remembering it. --Lloyd Kropp

  • A classic, by the best ballad singer there ever was or will be...and just listen to the mandolins! Wow!

  • Thank you for Posting this song

  • this song is so wonderful..

  • This song was my brother, Ken's party piece ... he sang it until he passed away in Dec 2007 ... Ken, your still in my heart.
