christian and layla are such good supporative friends and i'm happy for oliver now thats he decided to be out of the closet, he seems more relaxed like a big weight has been lifted off his shoulders and kyle and oliver looked so cute sitting there in their very sexy uniforms having a chat, it was so adorable, they have such great chemistry together, i love it, kish forever

No psionycx... Oliver did exactly what I hoped he would do... He finally grew some balls and stood up to that asshole I was actually proud of him. My problem was with the way you were whining about how coming out to your mother damaged your relationship for 15 years. I never said that Oliver should cut his parents out of his life. I just said that if they can't accept him for who he is losing them would be no great loss and I stand by that. Nobody should have to beg to be accepted...

The way Oliver came out to his parents (suddenly "dropping a bombshell") was probably the only way it could be done...with beliefs that set in stone he could not have warmed them up to the idea. It's SO good that he did...you can see how much more relaxed he is, now that he can be himself.

BUT you can't say that his parents pretty much walking out of his life is "no big loss".

It was the right decision, but still it included a BIG loss (even if the benefits outweigh that loss.)

I think Oliver really did just want to talk to Kyle when he said "Can I call you later?" He must feel an incredible need to talk to someone who not only supports him (as do Layla and Chris) but also knows what he's going through. They have a history of more than passion...it seems they were very close...and Oliver needs the support of a good friend who really knows him well.

My mother is a bible thumping southern baptist and it was hard for her when I told her I am gay. The thing she said to me that I will always remember is- "This is something I have to deal with. You are my son and I love you". And eventhough she would still (25 years later) like me to marry a woman she supports me and my partner. Everything doesn't have to be perfect. We have a wonderful relationship.

It is already obvious to me that Oliver's mother is going to come around. she may not completely understand why he is gay (just because he is) but she loves her son and will support him. This may prompt her to learn more about homosexuality- outside her narrow world view. You can't please everyone. This is what I think is one of the morals of this story. You have to be true to yourself. Oliver will survive without his parents but hopefully he won't have to.

While you are correct and this is a soap opera let's not minimize it's possible impact. It can be just a little bit of an education for the herd of bible thumping sheep that still treat their chldren this way and it can also provide support for gay people in Oliver's position if done correctly...

Just like me, Oliver's homosexuality is at the very core of who he is. if his parents can't accept that part of him they don't really know or love him at all. They love what they want him to be...

So psionycx, are you saying that if you knew it would damage your relationship you would not have come out to your mother? If so, that isn't something to be proud of. It is something to be embarrassed of; that you would have lived a lie for 15 years to spare the feelings of a person that is not deserving of your sacrifice because she can't love you for who you are. It's also too soon to know how Oliver's parents will ultimately behave. They need time to process. I still think his mother will come around. You never know with the fathers- if the ego is too fragile he may not be able to cope (he may think this says something about his masculinity).

Oliver's coming out was not for his parents but for himself. It would be great if every parent would become a Pflag member but we're not all so fortunate. Being true to yourself is the most important thing. Parents who won't find a way to understand don't really want to know their children. It's their loss. Live your life as a proud gay person. It's the only way. BTW, Chriatian & Layla are the best kind of friends- they care unconditionally.

I have NEVER liked Jared and Natalie since I have been watching this soap. There's just something aout Jared that turns me off. I wonder what John's suspicions of Jared will amount to? I love seeing Oliver finally relaxed a little now that he is out of the closet. Kyle looks very hot in the scrubs. Will the next few days show Kyle returning home to Nick after his shift or will that be passed over? Will Kyle and Nick grow closer now that Kyle sees Oliver more comfortable in his own skin?
