I´m reading in your description that you are using a G Major. Can you switch the channels of the amp with it and use effects at the same time like you can with MIDI or not? And if yes, how?
HEY MAN! ME AND YOU HAVE THE SAME KRANK! White tolex and chrome grille. Now all we have to do is find the matching cab in white tolex. hahah thats gunna be a B%#$!
they actually used mesa mark iv's re-wired to be purely pre amps, which where when then fed into mesa 100w power amps, and played through speakers in specialised sound coffins. bit too complicated for me!

ah, i wouldn't really go that far. i've owned randalls, fenders, marshalls, engls, h&ks, and to be honest, i'd say the tone of orange and vox amps are probably the best-sounding and most versatile
..... m8 u either aint played a krank or have been brainwashed by media hype over marshall .... they used to be gd .... now they suck ... krank RULE!!
On Kill 'Em All, they used James' modified Marshall amplifier. On Ride the Lightning they also used Marshall amps. On Master of Puppets and ...And Justice For All they used Mesa/Boogie Mark IIc + amplifiers with a Marshall poweramp, on 'Metallica', they used Mark IVs with Mesa/Boogie poweramps, on Load and Reload, they used Mesa/Boogie Triaxis preamps and Mesa/Boogie poweramps.
Their rig is pretty crazy. Certain songs had mesa studio/quad preamp, ada preamps...kirk used a bradshaw power amp and marshalls for one album. Hetfield even gigs with two diezel vh4s these days
@425V8 The studio and quad preamps were only used on AJFA and after. Prior to AJFA they had used Mesa/Boogies slaved into Marshall amps (to use the power section) and just straight up Marshalls like I mentioned in my prior post. I don't really remember all too well (I'm not that big into Metallica anymore that post was from 3 years ago LOL) but I believe those preamps (Including the ADA MP-1) were mostly used for lead tones.
AFTER AJFA & the black album they went really CRAZY with gear! haha
neither. triamp cant be messed with and herbert is almost as good as triamp. the herbert has a constant scooped sound tho....its just what it does lol. but the triamp is def the best amplifier you can buy. i play a 6505+ and thats just me. I waited 6 months totry my revolution....i already told you what i play so i neednot fill you in.
Awesome!

well ofcourse new marshall sucks, but if you listen to the godly old metallica albums; those are original marshall combos and heads
Relayer1968 4 years ago
but didnt they have to get em modded before they sounded good
wazzawazza 4 years ago
no
they always sounded good
everyone has a different distinct tone and if they had to get their amps modded to do that then they would
pgallagher61592 4 years ago
You're actually wrong. From the first album and sense then on they've used modified Marshalls.
CoC350 4 years ago
if your going to tell me a 1960's marshall sounds bad without any mods then you obviously dont know much about them
pgallagher61592 4 years ago 3
Metallica? They've played Mesa Boogie for forever.

Krank is a PART of his tone. He still uses Mesa rectifiers, Mark IIC+ and all that...he just uses the krankenstein in his mix sometimes.
