I think posture is pretty good. It does look like it is forced but that's how adaptation is created. What may looked forced now will look very relaxed, smooth and effortless in a week or so. Remember that for rowers the erg is somewhere to really focus on technique and strengthening postural muscles. You do not want a relaxed "core" or mid section as that is the area of transfer of power from legs to the hands/handle-blade in water and therefore you do want a pole up the back.
its good but, ur leaning back too much. that used alot of energy to recover, so its wasted movement. i dunno, maybe thats how they do in england, kind of different from rowing in japan. nice muscle tho.
hands dip at backstops (as they are meant to) so clearly he is trying to row as if on the water (good), problem is why does he then raise his hands again almost instantly instead of at the catch?
@novicerower2010 well i guess it's less prominent in the hard strokes towards the end, but his hands seem to rise to the catch more than just go straight up. Maybe his coach gets him to lift his hands early on the slide due to an underlying problem with skying?
Too much energy wasted on posture. Maybe its good for picking up the girls, but its a waste of energy to have a pole up your butt. You continue to lean too far at the finish of the drive, particularly during increase transitions of power output. You do over reach, by a lot. And your knee bending timing is off during the recovery. The roboto comment is right on, and the comments about relaxing are as well. You will get a LOT more output/speed by relaxing/enjoying the erg.
@spitboi7 I don't know/care if he is better or faster than me. This is about form at this point, and he needs to relax and enjoy rowing more. The pole in ass form is just not going to work on water, or even in indoor comps.
just relax !! ^^ you try to have a good technique, but here we can think that u have a broom in the ass ! relax your body and YOUR ARMS ! faster at the catch and then maybe it will be pretty good :P
I have an old VITAMASTER RM-6 rower that works perfect for me. It has 3 adjustment levels. This machine on these videos is ok for the high-tech crowd, but after 25 years mine it still works.
when you focus too much on you technique, you won't be able to relax in the recover, which is very inportant. So a little bit fewer technique is better.
You studied your books very well. But i think at this point, you should wonder what's the use of a perfect technique?
I think a lot of energy is wasted in trying to achieve such a straight back and keeping your arms straight. I do not believe this is the most energy effiecient technique.
But it sure is an acomplishment to be able to row like this. A good exercise for anyone.
I like it, you clearly know what good technique is, but this video is 1.07 long, and even before you start the burst you being losing the technique, and in the burst you start letting your legs come up too early, I can row this well for 1 minute no problem, easy peasy, but on my 18k ergs, nah, no chance.
the ratio it the thing that sticks out to me. its perfect! haha, exactly 1:3! but it does look a little forced... your lower back is gonna have some serious problems after a while if you poke it up so straight like that.
i advise you to go look at zac purchase or mark hunter (quite a few videos of them on here). They aint exactly living in a cathedral with the hunch backs. As you can see my back has a soft lower lumbar curve. The main fault is my over reaching at the catch. But im working on that
If you go to 0:24 you can actually see the resistance is on 7/8, however resistance level has nothing to do with it as it is totally dependent on bungee stiffness.

you look like your really trying to row well but it looks forced and energy consuming. Loosen up a bit and you will be more efficient

@HaikuAutomation This guy has abnormally good posture, its not his fault...trust me...although, he is most likely a faster rower than you...

Knees come up way too early in the burst. Pivot and get your hands away quicker, and yes, relax! Enjoy it! If it's possible to enjoy ergs.

nice. until you go high rate and forget to hold the knees down. get away with it on an erg, you wouldn't in a boat on choppy water
