There'd be no benefit whatsoever to the average person because any government with members self-interested enough to legalise sucession would be very unlikely to spend the extra wealth on public works to ensure everyone had a better standard of living.

It would be a very sad thing for Australia if WA seceded from the Commonwealth. We are all Australians and should stick together. The time difference this guy mentions several times would be a petty reason to break up a country. There's a couple of hours difference between California and New York but I've never heard of Californians wanting to secede from the Union. I hope this secession movement dies a thorough death before any damage is done to our wonderful country.
