  • When they crouch down like that is the time to grab them. Approaching with one hand directly down upon them will trigger that reaction.

  • as if you can hypothesis ur chickens LOL

  • she's supposed to be a vet?! you only need to cut the primary flight feathers idiot.

  • We call them "chicken shits" around here...

  • Well, It's painfully slow at first, but the bit at the end about Hypontizing the chicken was well worth it!

  • interesting but my chickens run is a 6 foot high dog kennel with chicken wire over the top so i shouldnt need to clip any wings

  • oh crap, i just cut my birds wings and i cut ablood vessel!!!!

its bleeding like hell in its cage and i dont know what to do!!!!

    heeelllpppp mmmmeeee!!!!!!!!!

  • hi,im glad that ur showing people how to do this and i think its good but it looks like u dont spend much time with ur chickens as u and the chicken were a bit cautious when u picked her up and also that chicken pen was waaay to small, its not fair on the chickens.imagine u living in there all the time even if u do let them out occasionly, they only get a short life so u want to give them a good and happy life.just think of the chickens its a bit cruel

  • This is really Helpfull Because i have three 20 week old chicks, and One called coco, likes to explore everyone elses gardens, we lost her at eight last night, and got the whole neighborhood looking for her, a few houses at the back of us had her in there house, and then she went over there back house, so when we got round to that house He had climbed over to get her, We clipped her last night, but My aunt has done it wrong i think, as she only took a little bit off, thanks for the video !!

  • why would you trim the feathers of chickens? :S they can't fly that high or that much!

  • VET DUSE NOT KNOW HOW TO CUTE BIRDS WINGS DUMBEY

  • Should never use pointed scissors for wing clipping. If the bird struggles it could get injured on the scissors. Always use round ended scissors.

  • you fail dick.

  • She?? Looks like a rooster to me boy I say boy!! A Leghorn no less. Nicely done...

  • @garyianneale I Believe its a East sussex' I Have East sussex cross rhode island reds. :)

  • are yall scared of the birds

    bc yall act like it

  • i cliped the wings, both sides not very much though as i wasn't sure how. she still gets ontop of my 6ft fence so obviosly didn't take. watched this vid so i took more off just one side she still leaps and flys 4 ft my chicken wire is only 2 ft so should i trim both sides cutting down all flight feathers?

  • @assman255 doubt this is any help at all but if you clip the wings, only do one side , it un balances them

  • do you have a Red Star in there? they are like laying......monsters! lol i have 2 of em

  • So this white chicken been beheaded right? because the fox attacked him in episod 39 :(

  • That was brillinat mate. Really good information for beginners! I loved the hypnotism too!!!

    Keep up the good work!

    Sid

  • CANT YOU CUT BOTH WINGS

  • I can't believe how scared those men are of a hen! Stop fannying around and just pick her up! haha.

    Good video though :)

  • I agree. Stupid city folk!

  • @westlondonlion he's not scared of them you idiot he just doesnt want to scare them.

  • @no1horselover

oh fuck off you pathetic cunt

  • @westlondonlion Id rather be pathetic than be a complete brainless idiot like you.

  • Really good video :D

  • See when it got into the squatting position?

It meas she thinks your a rooster and that is the mating position. if you stroke them in a certain way afterwards they will fluff all their feathers up and they think they have just been mated.

  • Yeah my chooks do this too...its weird but at least it means they think you are the boss ^_^

  • I don't clip the wings on my hens. Mine are free range and they need all the lift they can get when trying to run/fly from foxes and hawks.

  • Beautiful hens! We clip wings too. First time we didn't know and cut both sides and they could still fly, had to wait a year for them to grow out and cut just ONE side. LOL We didn't know!

  • We trimmed our hens wing on one side and the old gal is still flying out of the pen. I think she must be cartwheeling all the way.

  • I just got 6 laying hens last month, and we get more than 2 dozen eggs per week, even though only 4 are laying so far. I love your videos. You guys rock.

  • Eating meat is not going to stop...making sure the animal lives a happy healthy humane life before they are humanely killed for food is the only way to go. Ignoring how animals are treated before they are put on our tables is horrible. Back in the day everyone had their own chickens for egg production...now it's against most city laws. Kudos for making an effort to provide for yourselves.

  • i believe strongly that if the chicken has lived a good and hapy life before it is humanely killed that is not murder.people eat meat from the shop that have lived a terrible life yet more people complain about an animal that they have seen before it is killed or got attatched to.yet they dont think about the life of a supermarket broiler bird.

  • nicely done,im gunna clip the feather ends of my flock, they keep flying over the fence.if u clip the feathers on one wing does the chicken fly in a circle?

  • LOL Not a circle just unbalances it.

  • i got pecked by a chicken it hurts

  • Very nicely done.

    Good luck on everthing.

    Peace. (misha)

  • OMG!! i lov it!! u got da chicken alredy!! YAY!!♥muhaa♥ =0Þ

  • Guoooooogogoogg.. i like that sound^^

  • The thing at the end was cool. Just remember though guys - With great power comes great responsibility.

  • Since they're taking care of so nicely,

    HOW BIG ARE THEIR EGGS?

  • Interesting! :)

They're coming along quite lovely- do you get eggs now?

  • We have a video about that coming soon...

  • O'tay! ;)

  • Well aren't you cute! I will subscribe since you are so cute! How do I get rid of a wayward rooster?

  • Thanks

  • @GivingItAGo Hey, did you clip all of its wing or just half and once they are clipped how high can they fly?

  • @sparrowhawk72 You get rid of a wayward rooster by having him for dinner. :P

  • The black one is the cutest!!!

  • Yeah I liker her too but she is a bit of a late developer hopefully she will catch up with the other two.

  • yeah don't make any chicken soup or anything lol...xjx

  • i like fried chicken does that help

  • Just to be on the safe side, I'd figure out which of you would be able to do it with the least guilt & have that person not interact w/ the hens at all until D-day. When it comes down to it, it is extremely hard to let go & you'll probably be craving meat. Any thoughts on an aquarium for fish? AWESOME chick trick!

  • i agree with annie. don't you get attached to them? i did! i held a chicken once and felt it's heartbeat and all and haven't eaten meat since!

  • Thanks for the advice. I have held them a lot and I do like them but we have not forgotten the reason we got them, the reason we are doing anything in our garden in fact. For food. I am still looking forward to eating the white one and I don't think I wil get attached. Keep watching though, I might have to eat my words instead of the chicken.

  • Nice vid, poor chicken!

  • I understand your point, I see you give them a great life by comparison, I am not in any way debating that. My question was, don't you get attached to them, is it hard for you to kill them?

  • We will see when the time comes. I like them but at the same time I am looking forward to eating her (we are only eating the white one). Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • I used to breed mice, and feed them to my snakes. And yes it was difficult. Than one time my snake escaped and ate my favorite mouse, and I cried for days. But after a while, you get over the whole thing. Because it's all part of responsibility. The whole cycle of feeding. Sometimes emotions destroy more than do good.

  • I agree. It annoys me when people say things like 'meat is murder'! If we all became vegetarians animals like chickens would get eaten by foxes. They would all have short miserable lives followed by long excruciating deaths.

  • The best thing for the animals is to be cared for, live a good life safe from predators then die quick humane death.

This does not happen for the most part in the meat industry but vegetarianism is not the answer. If people are fussy and don't want to eat meat, fine, but don't claim it is because you care about animals.

  • Animals that are used in meat production live on factory farms. And if you want to eat an animal, who lived in a barred box, and had lesions that turned into rotted black gangreen, than go right ahead. But I frankly would rather eat a freaking pigean, than to eat chicken, that spent it's entire 45 day life in a box, out of sunlight, with feces all over it's body, debeaked as a chick, bones broken during shipping, disease, insanity. That is the reality of meat production.

  • Exactly but it needn't be that way and it will taste a lot better when the animals have had better lives.

  • just to be clear, i didn't mean anything like that. i just wondered.

  • the hypnosis trick, really cool!

  • That's so sad, you're going to kill it? Don't you get attached? Poor chicken!

  • Poor Chicken? Compared to most chickens you buy in the supermarket or KFC it will have a great life and a painless death. Our chickens are lucky that they are kept almost like pets. Put things in perspective.

  • Very nice vid. I like the trick you did at the end. Is that so the chicken will hold still before you chop it's neck? It's just a question, I'm wondering how that trick evolved. Not that you would chop their necks.

  • Actually we are planning to chop the white ones neck. We are planning to eat that one but not the others as they are not such a good breed for eating. I think we will use some more secure technique to hold her down though and we will do it as quickly as possible.

  • Great vid dude!!!!!!!!!

  • well done

  • They're CHICKENS for cris'sake. They fly like boats! The record chicken flight is like 20 feet! You guys act like city folk who've never seen a farm animal before. Oh, right- you are!

  • 20 feet is a long way when your neighbours are 5 feet away. 20 feet is far enough to escape in the city.

  • Great vid!!! :)

  • Thanks! AussieMo. Are you from Australia? Did you notice Kat the vet is from Australia?

  • You look like you are getting attached to your chickens. I'm not sure that you will be able to eat them.

  • We will see when the time comes. I am still looking forward to it, but also looking forward to having them alive a bit longer.

  • Very Cool... I think.

  • Very informative , Thanks . 5 :o)

  • Thanks Dave.

  • Y/W :o)

  • very nice, i`m need to clip my ducks wings so he cant fly away, and get himself into trouble :) good luck with the chickens.

  • five!

Please cut the nail of the ferocious cat of my home!!:0)

  • That chicken is now under you're power!!! it's a great responsibility you have now...
