Matt Jones got his life together back then, and still continued to developed like we saw he was on his last year with the Jags. And he was still on the team, and now with a TRUE Quarterback throwing him the ball, Blaine Gabbert.
We would be like the Lions are with Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson.
because He definately had the potential to be that good.
goddamn it this guy's combine numbers were serious shit, only c. johnson has been able to match jones abilities not even a 5'10 180 pounder can match such numbers
I wish he still played for us in jacksonville. matt jones, mercedes lewis, mike sim walker, and mike thomas would be unstoppable. plus jones drew in the running game. I'm really mad that matt jones let drugs ruin his career in jacksonville. jaguars cut him right after he got caught with cocaine. That one bad decision he made is the reason why he is a free agent.
@dlw322113220 Not to nitpick, but he got cut after violating his parole, which he did by drinking a beer at a golf game. I think that is ridiculous. Yeah he did coke, and got punished for it.. But to cut him for violating his parole in such a harmless way. I dont get it.
@TerrorWarrior5000 Haha yeah, hes slow and only runs a 4.3. Im deleting your anti white comment. If you post it again, ill delete it again. Take care!
@Tomkat53 Maybe youre right, i dont really give a shit though, I only like Matt Jones on the Jags, the rest of the team doesnt interest me. Maybe Jones drew, who is an undersized tank, hes great to watch. Rest of the team sucks dick though.
look at what Matt Jones looks like when a quarterback can actually throw down the field. Garrard was a dink and dunker and couldn't hit jones in stride and had him running possession receiver routes. Look at the vid i posted with Leftwich throwing to Jones
Boy you've given a real intelligent response. We were talking about Matt Jones ability, not who won or lost the game. I guess when you loose an argument, all you can say is expletives. I assume you know what that means?
Apparently he ran a 4.37 40 a few years ago. He may be able to run some go routes on occasion. On the down side, he doesn't seem very quick or exceptionally agile, but the 6'6" frame makes up for that somewhat. He's a big target. Seems to have a decent knack for finding soft spots in coverage and getting open enough to take advantage of his height. Hopefully he comes in motivated. If so, we may have a good number 3 WR. I say the need at WR is still there, and a rookie WR won't cut it.
long strides makes anyone look not quick. Unfortunately the Jaguars never utilized his deep speed, I don't think the qb could make the throws consistently.. Seems like a dink and dunk control the clock type offense. People say hes a bust, but I think he did a good job. Just because hes an athlete doesn't mean hes gonna light it up at a position he never played before, it took him a few years but he seemed to finally grasp the position his last season and was on pace for 1k being misused
look at Moss when he played w Cassel who struggled to hit him deep at first, Moss looked awkward at times and put up his second lowest stats for a full season, only registering 3 more yards than when he played a full season healthy in Oakland. If they put Jones at slot receiver it would be stupid, it would be like asking Moss to run Welker's routes. They need to use him in a Robert Meachem role (who took 3 years to learn to be an nfl wr and played the position in college)
He only got thrown to on hitches and comebacks, because thats all Garrard can throw. Hes a real deep threat, he will kick ass with Palmer throwing him the ball!

Matt Jones, Chad Ochocinco, Antonio Bryant, Andre Caldwell, and Quan Cosby? Sounds like a return of the 2005 Bengals passing game to me!!

Did you bother to look further down and see how he dominated the Bengals with those fades, slants, and come backs?

Im sure youve seen is college highlights, he just plain outruns entire SEC defenses. And does it damn often.
Theres also a lot of plays (not in this video) he made for the Jags over the years where he showed his deep speed.
He could be very useful, but needs to play outside. At 6'6 he cant play slot WR.
