i watched the movie today it was the best movie i have ever seen some bits made me cry..... haha i will reconmend people to go see it cause its really good and i wouldnt change any castings cause the peopel who play made the movie seem real
Rob is great for Jacob, Alexis Bedel for Marlena, Christian Bale for August, and I love the idea of Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Uncle Al. Peter Dinklage is great for Kinko, but I could almost see a crazy haired Michael Cera for him too (weird, I know).
Peter Dinklege has to be Kinko, the mini me guy is a possibility too. Remember the height challanged Linda Hunt got her start playing a GUY! (The year of living dangerously) I go Keifer as August (killed by the Elephant, not Jacob) the right mix of evil and charm, as written. I urge all to read the book. Easy read, and not long.
I wouldn't mind seeing Emile Hersch as young Jacob....Zooey Deschanel as Marlena.....Daniel Day Lewis as Uncle Al....Christopher Waltz as August....Steve Buscemi as Walter and as the older Jacob I would pick Jeff Bridges
AHH! Patrick Wilson and Rachel McAdams would be perfect, I think! I hate who is really playing them. Except, I heard Christof Waltz is August and that made me happy.
my favorite book of all time. i thought it would be boring i kept reading and couldnt stop. i read all of it a couple days ago and wonder about that book. i think that book has a very powerful story. i just cant wait til the movie comes out. i am a big fa of this book.
Rumors are said to have Robert Pattinson, Reese Weatherspoon, Sean Penn and few other actors...Please let this be true, it would be the perfect cast for this film.
love these choices! i finished the book about 30 seconds and cried. definitely the best book i've ever read. i was thinking the entire time i was reading how it would make such a good movie and a so glad to find out it will be! i like rachel mcasams for marlena.
I agree with some of your choices... expecially Marlena, I really want Rachel McAdams to make this movie....When I was reading the book, I always thought about her being Marlena!
I loved the book and think it would be a great movie if done right--Toby McGuire as Jacob; Jennifer Love-Hewitt as Marlena, Kevin Kline as August; John C. Reilly as Uncle Al and Christopher Walken as Old Jacob. Hmmmm....
I agree with your ideas!!!! Creating a realisitic movie would be hard with the sex secenes, and barabra and her antics. It would be nice if the movie would be able to made without them so younger audiences could enjoy it too.
I totatly agree! I found the sex scenes kinda unnesseccary, besides the one between Jacob and Marlena, cause it actually affects, but they could defiently make PG13.
I agree with a few of your choices. Definitely Kiefer for August, I can imagine him being perfect. And Rachel McAdams for Marlena would be great too. I don't think any of the actors you picked for Jacob were quite right though. But I can't think of anyone else either, lol! :)
I would personally like a nobody actor (with really good acting skills) play jacob, that way they dont play the character with too much confidence, cause Jacob is sorta akward and shy at times. Also it would be nice to see a new face on the big screen!
Except for the scene in the hotel near the conclusion of the story...Bet they can cover things up with that though...Wouldn't be so pornographic with sheets and stuff covering Marlena and Jacob...
i kinda hope they take out some of the gross stuff that happened in the book. Like barabara, i really hope they take her character out.. in my opinion she wasent needed. and if you take her you pretty much take out all most of the sexual content.
I just FINISHED Water for Elephants today...It's one of the greatest if not the greatest novel I've ever read...And HAHA!, good picks for the characters, that's mostly how I pictured them...Except for Uncle Al...I pictured him a bit more hefty and fat...But the face of the actor definetely fits the description in my mind...And are you SERIOUS?! about the movie?...Is it going to be quietly released on DVD or LOUDLY released through the movie theatres?...I hope for the latter, but I doubt it...
Ok I totally agree that Rachel McAdams should be Marlena! Jude Law maybe 4 Jacob. but just an idea, what about Johnny Depp like how he appeared in "Finding Neverland?" IDK, just an idea. :) Water For Elephants is one of my favorite books! lemme know what u think!
I agree with a lot of your choices, especially the Marlena's, but it seems like you're casting very old. Jacob is in college, almost done with a degree, so he's probably 24-25 at the oldest, and I always pictured August as in his 30's. So, any of the Jacobs you have on the vid could be Augusts, especially Jude Law. They're all charming men, and I think there has to be something charming about August, because otherwise it wouldn't make sense for anyone to like him at all (marlena specifically)
I thought the same about August, that's why i chose Ryan Gosling- he's charming and 'handsome', but has a dark side. i think he would play that very well.
Jacob was really hard to cast, cause there's not a lot very talented young actors, that havent been nominated for Teen choice awards- if you know what i mean. It would be so annoying for 12 year girls to go see the movie cause of zac efron or somebody.i totatly get what you're saying!
Yeah, I love Patrick Wilson, but let's be honest: the audience has to accept that Jacob can't just kill August right off the bat, and Patrick Wilson is a beefcake.
I agree. Jude Law would be a great Augut. Marlena could be more... I don't know, exotic. Maybe Marlena and Jacob could be young not-famous actors. Uncle Al needs to be olders, that kind of circus manager, with moustache and stuff
if you go on IMDB and look up Water for Elephants it says they are in 2010 (also other websites too), but sadly there's no info on the cast, directors or anything yet. I just can't wait!

Rob Pattinson will be perfect for Jacob Jankowski. This young British actor will do justice to the well beloved character in the book.

I think Hoffman would make a great Uncle Al. And Rachel McAdams def a good chocie for Marlena.
For Young Jacob, I think Jude Law, Matt Damon and Patrick Wilson are all too old since Jacob is only 23 and they are in their (late) 30s.
What about Jake Gylenhaal for Jacob. He's got that innocent look about him that I picture Jacob having...
Fun video!!
