I hate how many obstacles microsoft puts in front of you with these installations. there needs to be some more work done on their behalf to at least help the zune software installation not make you want to rip your hair out. I had countless hours of nightmarish circumstances installing the original zune software, so much so that after seeing your video, Im realizing that even with 4.0 they cant make things work seamlessly. The Zune HD looks so incredible, but i care about my sanity, so I'll pass

@magnumgsr I've installed the Zune software on at least eight different computers, and this video is the only time I can think of that I've had any issues. If you have a legitimate copy of Windows that is up to date with Windows Updates, the software goes on very easily.

Go to the Zune Web site and download the Zune desktop software. Install it, then connect your Zune. There was a sticker on the front of your Zune when it was brand new saying to download the software as the first step. :-)

there is an update coming out in the spring that adds native avi support on the zune hd. this really pushed me over the edge for this device. adding this format is a huge deal for me.

Native AVI format? Are you sure? My info says it will add Xvid support only. That's not the save as general AVI support...though I'm not sure why you'd want that anyway, AVI's not compressed with Xvid or another codec are huuuuge. :-)

Hey ThoughtsMedia I just downloaded 4.0 and guess what everyone, I have to say M$ acutally did something right for once. It actually shows all my VIDEO And Movie files from AVI dvxix now you can download into ZUNE and don't have to convert anymore!!

The Zune HD can't play Divx video, so it was converting them when it was pushing them over - I knew the 4.2 update allowed AVI files to display, but I didn't realize it would also convert. Good to know. :-)

Well I purchase my Zune HD day of release thanks to my 10% discount. Today i was trying to download my videos in my ZUNE HD but some how it wouldn't let me. Prob cause of maintenance. Just wish ZUNE HD Could play AVI and FLV files. but I have to convert them which takes too damn long.

I have a 120GB Zune but haven't updated to the 4.0 software yet. Too afraid to brick it! I love my Zune, I really do. It's so disappointing how Microsoft has simply dropped support and we have the same kind of terrible user-experience issues that we would expect from Windows 15 years ago. Bummer.

Yes, the 4.0 software is compatible with the older Zunes. It doesn't give you the new games or other apps though - they're Zune HD only.

I've seen all of your videos about Zune HD. Can you help me with this like for iTouch, when you play music, a song for example, you can add lyrics into it in iTune right? But for Zune HD, can you add lyrics and watch it along as the song's playing? I have a friend in America who i asked to help me buy a Zune HD 16gb, but i'm really concerned about this feature. Unfortunately there's no way to view the lyrics you've added on the Zune HD. I'd really like to see this feature added, but Microsoft so far doesn't seem to care about adding this feature.

with zune pass you dont keep the music. what i do is use my itunes to download my content and then port it to the zune software. it comes up with the album art and alll

Might be a bad USB port. Don't use a hub, connect directly to your PC. Try another PC to rule out the USB port problem. Might even be a bad cable...or a defective Zune. Lots of possibilities.

I own a little Acer Aspire One netbook, so installing this software was a b**ch. But I got it done, and I kind of like it, but I really do feel like it adds nothing to the older generation zunes. I only see updated content for the HD model Zune, which bothers me a bit.

There is no way to use a Zune HD with a Mac, unless you want to use boot camp, or emulator software. There is no native OS X software, and the Zune will not mount as a mass storage device, so you can't even drag and drop content onto it.
