Back in this time there was absolutely zilch tolerance of old hairy rockers in chart music, so I lked The Mission because they permitted a guitarist who looked like Steve Hilage if you squinted your eyes. Of course, looking back they were dreadful. In any case, they gave me a couple of fun evenings.
Saw them on this tour. Barras in Glasgow and Julianne Regan stood beside me for the first few songs.
I was in a daze. Still am. Don't know why I didn't just lift her up and take her home with me! Gorgeous and stunning woman. And The MIssion were great that night.
The Tube was a fantastic show for me ..... Friday night after a long week at work .... totally kna**ered and treated to live music from great bands like The Mission .... Over 20 years later I still love the Mission :-)
What great times, decadence and hair what happened to our hair my kids will never beleive I used to have long hair and dress up like the legend Mr Hussey. Where's the bloody tardis I want to go back in time.
Many faces I used to gig with on this one! Stoko, Ramone, Jenny, John O'Hare, my namesake Steve Bradley and bro Chris and my good mate from here in York, Carl!
love a lot of bands from the 80s but to my ears New Model Army are the only ones I listen to since 15 years and I never find them boring Mission I like few songs but an whole album already is too much
I have to agree. I followed the Mission from 1986 to end of 1990 (140 gigs), but to be honest, even by the end of that period I was listening to other stuff. Can't listen to them at all now. Oddly, I still listen to New Model Army. I think New Model Army didn't date so badly, because they were never 'in'. They still make some good records. The same can't be said for the Mission.
Definitely not the best rock band in the world, but there were a few years there where they encapsulated the art of rock'n'roll. I can't listen to them now, but they definitely changed my life and damn nearly killed me in the process. My liver will never be the same.
brazz44? *this* band? The Mission. (in the states called the Mission UK) Shepherds Bush in late Feb. (yes I have tickets, and yes, I have to hop the 'pond'.
the blonde he from gisbough. l just can,t remember the bands name. they use to play in the skipers pub. they were prity good. they sang this song just as goog.wonder if there still on the go.if so good look lads
Watching this on the tube back then made me drop my dull existence and go out get a life and follow them on tour and discover the joy and tribe of music !!

I can remember being at a gig in Brum when they changed their name from the Sisterhood to The Mission.
Saw this band every time they played the Midlands in their early years - then I met my ex-wife....lol.
I can still remember Wayne saying, "This is for the impatient one" when I kept shouting for 1969 at the Odeon in Birmingham......good old memories.

I think to say they were "dreadful" is a bit over the top. Certainly they produced plenty of "lemons", but this song is f*cking great !

the intro guitar part sounds A LOT like Sisters of Mercy "Marian"...c'mon Wayne Hussey...I still like this song though!

I've got a feeling Wayne wrote the music for 'Marian' when he was in the Sisters, so he obviously felt it was good enough to use again
Criddington 2 years ago 6
Actually he wrote Marian with Gary Marx
